Chapter 14

Making his choice, Corven presses the button.

After he does, he feels a large sinking feeling in himself, almost as if his being is being slowly drained as he watches the stars fly by him.

Mesmerized by the beauty, he doesn't notice his notifications coming in.

After what feels like an hour of watching the stars flying past at high speeds, with the sinking feeling increasing greatly, Corven is suddenly stopped, in the middle of a pitch black space, with all thats visible are what appears to be many universes, spinning with different colors around eachother, almost like different galaxies, but on a much large scale.

Without having much time to admire the view, Corven is suddenly pulled straight to what appears to be a large reddish colored universe spinning in on itself.

As he quickly smashes into it, he starts feeling pain all over and the sinking feeling is becoming much more apparent.

Not being able to handle the pressure of what he assumes is lightspeed, or maybe something faster, he quickly passes out.

An unknown amount of time later--

Waking up in a pile of garbage, Corven grabs hold of what appears to be the side of a dumpster, struggling due to a strong sinking feeling still lingering in his stomach.

Pulling himself out of it, he tries to stand up on the ground, but falls, feeling far too weak and sickly.

Struggling, he manages to crawl out of what seems like an alley, holding himself up against the wall, looking at the crowds of people passing by, before falling to the ground, passing out once more.

Seeing the strangely dressed, large man, laying on the ground passed out, many assume hes homeless and walk past him, ignoring his very existence.

But luckily for him, a little girl notices him.

"Daddy.. he smells weird.. I think he needs help..." says the little girl worriedly.

"You might be right Hinami.., Honey help me with him, ill be taking him back to the clinic." says the father as he picks up Corven, quickly realizing he's heavier than he looks.

With the help of his wife, they manage to get Corven to the clinic, where they lay him down in a bed.

Watching from the side as her father takes Corven's temperature while trying to cool his rising temperature.

"120.2° How has this man not died yet!?, Honey bring me some wet towels and ice quick!" yells out the doctor to his wife, as she rushed out of the room.

"Daddy he smells strange.. like wood, ash...and blood... Is he human?" says a curious Hinami.

"I dont know sweetheart, he doesn't smell like a ghoul, but he doesn't smell like a normal human either...We'll just have to talk with him if he manages to wake up." says Hinami's father as his wife rushes back in with wet towels and ice.

Though they try to help his fever, it never goes down. Worried for his safety and heavily rising temperature, The doctor rushes to prepare a temporary ice bath, but when he's managed to rest Corvens body inside, the ice quickly starts melting, and it doesn't take long for the water to begin boiling as well.

Sweating from the radiating heat, The doctor debates on calling 110 for Corven, but not wanting to put his family endanger, he decides against that, just hoping he finds a way to stop the rising heat before he dies.

As The doctor is rushing to fill the tub with more ice, the heat starts rising quickly, before slowly receding.

Noticing his fever has finally broke, The doctor pulls him out of the tub, back into a bed.

Worried about what happened, he tries to take blood from Corven to see if he can find anything wrong.

As he stabs the needle in his arm, it breaks, shocked at it breaking, he changes his syringe to a new one, and after trying again, he still needs to use much more force required for an ordinary human.

"Daddy whats wrong?.." asks Hinami seeing her father struggling.

"Its his skin.. its as tough as a ghouls..?" ponders the doctor.

"Doesn't that mean he's a ghoul like us then?" asks the mother.

"Im not sure.. if he is he certainly isn't like any ghoul I've seen before." says the doctor, increasing the worries and curiosity in his family's minds.

Examining Corvens DNA, he sees strands of..things that hes never even seen before, the very structure of his cells, though hold many similarities, seem changed and completely different from not only a human, but a ghouls as well.

Not knowing what he can do for the man, the doctor wipes the sweat away from his head, and rests, leaving the man to rest his body, hoping he'll wake up soon to answer some questions he has.

Bringing him next door into his family's home, he lays the man down in an unfoldable couch, letting him rest as he cleans up and prepares to take care of patients for the rest of the day.

"You have a good day Mrs. Itamara, if your neck is still causing troubles you should come back when you're able to." Says the doctor with a kind smile.

"Thank you Dr. Fueguchi, ill be sure to-" says Mrs. Itamara as she's interrupted after opening the door.

*CRACK*

Holding her up, a large blonde haired man, with a white suit and a gecko looking face walks in the door.

"Thank you mam, and they say kindness is dead." Says the large man with a sick grin, as he walks over to the doctor while dragging the body of the lady.

"J-Ja-ason, W-What are you doing here?" asks the Doctor as his body starts shaking.

"Dont worry Doc. I just need your help with something." says Jason as he towers over the sitting doctor.

"Im finally gonna capture that bitch Rize, and have my fun with her~. But I came looking for some new toys to use on her~.Seeing as you're a doctor for both humans and ghouls, i figured you'd have something for me." says Jason as he browses some of the doctors equipment.

*Sniff* *Sniff*

"Did you light a fire around here Doc, it smells like this place just caught on fire.*Chuckles*" Ponders Jason as he comes across some pliers.

"Hey Doc, you mind if I have these?" says Jason in a sinister tone, almost demanding for them.

"S-Sure Jason, they're all y-yours." says The doctor fearfully.

"Thanks Doc, I'll be on my way now, I got some business to take care of, say high to your family for me~~*Chuckles *, and thanks for the snack~." says Jason as he closes the door, leaving the doctors clinic.

Feeling his heart beating fast, The doctor wipes away the cold sweat on the back of his neck, and closes the clinic for the rest of the day, going to discuss what to do next with his wife, and check up on the mysterious man on his couch.

(Tokyo ghoul was the quite obvious winner so I hope everyone enjoyed it so far :))
