1 The Whispers of The Devil

“Jason, Mr. Adrian require your presence in his office” She told Jason at his office door

“Yes, Aurielle. Wonder what’s happened this time” he chuckled as he walked to her

“I didn’t know, Mr. Adrian didn’t tell me the details. He just asked me to brought you to him”

“I’m I in trouble, no?”

“Looks like he's stressed today, I didn’t know why though. Just don’t ruin his mood or he will explode” she said explain as they walked side by side

“You pay attention to him very detail, do you care about him, aurie?”

“No ─ I mean yes, but only to the extent of professional relationship between the boss and his secretary. Nothing more than that” It is true, she can’t have those feelings even though they’re a best friends and also she knows he ─ Adrian Rhodes has feelings for her.

“We’ll see then!” he gave her a wink.

She stopped, knock Adrian office doors and came in when he gave them permission.

“I’ve brought Jason, Mr. Adrian”

“Thank you, Aurie. Can you please wait outside and come in when I’m done with Jason?”

“Yes, Mr. Adrian” She walked out from his office and stood outside the door.

She wonder what’s happening, Adrian never keep things from her. But now that he was so strict. She wondered though.

After a few minutes, she heard broken glass from his room. she was surprised and rushed to enter the room ─ only to find Adrian sitting on the floor with a battered face and blood flowing from his mouth. Shards of glass scattered near him, she gasped─surprised to see her boss in such a state.

She quickly helped him to stand up “How impudent, you can't punch your boss in the face, Jason!” she barked at him

“Oh dear, why don't you ask your dear boss what happened?" Jason screamed and he stormed out of the room leaving him stunned where he was.

She was getting more and more curious about what was going on, should she ask him?

No.

She had to give Adrian space. But still, for now she had to sit in front of Adrian to help him treat his wound, then she could go back to his room.

"I'm sorry," he whispered softly, looking at the woman who was caring for his wound.

"Why are you apologizing to me? That's Jason who mad at you"

Aurielle knew him too well. The three of them ─ her, Adrian and Jason have been friends since middle school. So she could tell right away if something was wrong between them. It's weird how Adrian keeps things from her and Jason's anger bothers her, because he has perfect self-control between them all.

"Aren't you curious and will ask me what happened?" Indeed, she was curious. But she was afraid that if her curiosity bothered Adrian, so for now she would let Adrian go home and rest.

“Yeah, but I can save my curiosity for later. Now you should go home and rest.”

“No, I will sleep here. Can you handle all my work and meetings today?” He stroked her cheek gently

"Of course I can"

He smiled proudly "Then I'll leave everything in your hands" his big hand patted her head and she replied with a gentle hum.

It was a hectic day ─ she’d handled three meetings and doing all of Adrian jobs, while he sleep safe and sound in his office.

She’s tired but she can’t rest right now. She must opened her email and scheduled Adrian activity for tomorrow. Gezz, how she missed her bed already.

It's getting late and probably Adrian was already come back home ─ that’s mean she was the last person in the office. She skipped lunch, even dinner and thinks a cup of coffee and a light snack will keep her hunger ─ but it is not, she starving right now.

She could have brought her work home, but she didn't want to. Right now she just wanted to finish her work, go home, take a shower and rest ─ that's sound so heavenly to her.

The clock kept ticking and it was almost midnight. Some of the lights outside her office were turned off by Jacob, the office security guard. During the day, the constant ringing of the telephone, the sound of typing on the keyboard, and even the laughter of gossiping girls would fill the office space. But now only silence accompanied her. She’s alone, but she can feel another presence here ─ with her. As if there’s someone who watching her every move. She sighed, maybe she was a little paranoid.

That’s ridiculous.

Nothing is gonna happen here, she was safe.

After she’s done, she cleaned her desk, turned off her laptop and hurried out of her office to the parking lot in the basement. She walked confidently and bravely, thinking positively nothing would happen to her.

But she felt something strange, usually Jacob and Silas would be in the basement post if there were employees who hadn't come home, but this time they both disappeared. Then she saw Adrian's car still parked near her car in the executive parking ─ he hasn't come back home yet. But if so, Adrian will approach her when she’s still in her office. Something feels off, is Adrian all right?

She faintly heard a pain moaning voice in the basement, she got goosebumps. There couldn't be a ghost right?

She followed the voice, slowly entering the basement parking lot further. The further she walked, the darker it got. She’s afraid but she kept walking and then found Jacob and Silas with their backs to each other and bound - their mouths covered with tape. Both of their bodies were bruised and there were bloody scratches.

As she walked over to the two, they both groaned hysterically ─ as if they give her warning to not come any closer. She didn't understand what they meant, though. The dim light made her vision blurry, so she turned on the light from her cell phone and the light shone in front of where she was standing ─ only to find Adrian in a pool of his own blood.

Her body shaking, her eyes widened and her jaw dropped in terror ─ but before she could scream, a large hand covered her mouth and the other wrapped around her waist. She could feel her petite body pressed against big and sturdy hard body ─ he caged her.

How came she didn’t realize there’s another person in the basement ─ even near her in the office.

The man behind her brought his lips to her ear "curiousity can kill you, kitten" his baritone voice was thick with an aura of dominance. As if his voice screams power he owns. She shivered.

The thought of Adrian dying made her sad, her body shaking uncontrollably as she sobbed.

"Shh, my darling" he whispered softly in her ear, her eyes went blurry and everything went black.
