56 Scent Of Freedom

The elders had now accepted Favian's death completely. There was no doubt left in their mind after hearing Sylvia. The man was indeed unfortunate to face such fate, they believed.

Corbin's aunt now stood beside Sylvia, running her hand over her head with utmost care.

"What are you planning to do now, Sylvia? Are you planning to go back your home town?" She then addressed the important issue which others had not thought about yet.

Sylvia looked up at the elderly woman before her eyes shifted to Corbin for a fleeting second.

"I... I can't go back. There is nothing left for me, Mrs Addis." Sylvia told softly, fidgeting with her fingers. "But now I don't know where should I go. I mean... I am again an orphan and..." Her tears welled up again.

Corbin realised that was not a part of her act. She was genuinely concerned about her future and didn't know what to do.

He glanced at Sigerten for help, and his friend picked up on that silent plea.
