Guardian Ron.

Dean was trailing behind Blank and the rest as they led him to the gates.

Dean took a deep breath as he looked at the city around him.

The buildings were tall, and the space between them varied; some were tiny, and others were wide. The roads were wide to accommodate hundreds of people, and many alleys of different sizes led to different parts of the city.

When Dean saw the buildings, alleys, and all the people walking through them, he was reminded of his home on earth.

Specifically the time before he got rich and was just a shut-in who loved watching animes and playing games.

Those were the times Dean really experienced such a state of a city.

Later on, he found his way to become rich and distanced himself from all these tiny things and low-quality cities.

He didn't want that, but he had to since his brand and name held a lot of power and influence that he couldn't risk being seen in such places and living there.

He sacrificed that life to be the richest man on earth to find a way to become Immortal and get back to the life of those fantasy novels he was reading where people lived for millions of years.

He wanted that, and at last, he was met with that chance.

What surprised Dean about the city was its liveliness.

Even though it wasn't night yet and people still hadn't gone back to their houses which made it expected that the streets would be crowded, he was still surprised by the packed street and full of noisy atmosphere.

It was like the marketplaces on Earth where it was so crowded that you would even have difficulty seeing an inch in front of you without a person being right there.

He also spotted a lot of guards walking around maintaining peace in the city.

The streets were crowded with people and Dean honestly didn't mind that.

He in fact liked it.

He was also astonished after he found out that the braziers on top of the towers illuminated the city enough that everyone could see clearly.

Even though the different buildings also had smaller orbs that helped Illuminate the streets.

Dean could easily notice that their lighting was way lower than the gigantic orbs on top of the towers.

It was like comparing an elephant with a deer in terms of size; the same held true for the intensity of light radiating out of those orbs.

Dean was currently facing the south as he trailed behind the group of five.

'It is obvious where they will head, but will they go through the alleys or continue forward?'  Dean thought as he scratched his thin.

The alleys were both on his left and right.

Dean had lived enough in cities to know that even though the alleyways could take them to their destination, the main road was still faster.

' As expected, they are not interested in wasting time by showing me the city.' Dean concluded as he followed the group that chose to keep heading south.

He knew that if Blank and the others wanted a better relationship with him, they would have probably chosen the alleys since the journey would take longer and Dean would be able to see more things inside the city.

Nevertheless, he didn't mind such development since he knew that these people were tired and just wanted to finish their mission in peace after taking him to the gates and reporting what happened to their higher-ups.

The group of six soon reached a big intersection in the middle of the city. There were big roads leading to all cardinal directions.

' So fast?' He was surprised to see they already reached the marketplace if his deductions didn't betray him.

Since just from the intersection, he could tell that this was a huge marketplace during the day.

And when he saw the crowds of people storming the shops and stalls, Dean knew that this was the business district.

But as he expected, Blank didn't stop moving and continued walking towards the south.

They kept following the big road for half an hour until they finally reached the city's edge.

' As expected,' Dean wryly smiled when he saw the huge fence made of shiny black metal in front of him.

A door, way fancier and thicker than the gate of the city was situated in the middle of the fence.

In front of it stood a middle-aged man who looked to be around forty years old, his simple attire consisting of a white shirt and pants plus shoes would make everyone drop their guards the moment they saw him.

Dean wasn't an exception to such a misleading aura but given his long years of reading novels, he could more or less deduce that this middle-aged man wasn't simple.

The middle-aged man was standing in front of the door like a guard, his eyes closed as he seemed to be in some meditation state.

Alas, eyes more often deceived people since the moment the group of six was in the range of the middle-aged man's eyesight, Dean noticed that Kerin's hands began to shake uncontrollably.

' Interesting,' Dean mused secretly as he watched the reactions of the divers around him.

He could more or less notice that almost everyone had some kind of fearful reaction the moment they saw the middle-aged man.

The only two that didn't budge were Blank and Alex.

Dean couldn't tell if Blank really had no reaction on her face since she was wholly covered with the white robe, but that didn't matter since Blank was supposed to be the leader and not some weakling, so he could more or less deduce that much.

On the other hand, what shocked Dean the most was Alex.

The guy seemed unaffected by the middle-aged man's presence which didn't make sense given the other divers reaction.

' Maybe he is stronger than them? Or maybe Alex is a close person to him?' Dean was uncertain.

He didn't know whether their reaction was based on his aura or his identity, but it didn't matter since both things were linked together.

This is the reason why Dean didn't feel anything.

He was neither a diver nor knew who the middle-aged man was.

" A newborn diver without being chosen by the gates nor stealing the cards from other divers, isn't this interesting." The gentle voice of the middle-aged man sounded in everyone's ears taking everyone's full attention.

The moment his words came to an end the floor shook for a split of a second.

Bang!

Diver Blank instantly dropped to one knee as her palms touched the stony floor.

From the sound generated by her movements alone, Dean couldn't help but feel that no ordinary human would find his bones intact after that.

Following the loud sound and Blank's sudden reaction, her cold loud voice reverberated throughout the area.

" I salute Guardian Ron and politely ask for permission to let this newborn take his first real dive inside the gates!"
