Chapter 2 - Abandoned Building

"As I mentioned earlier, my father married my mother at a very late age. However, he was very violent and never failed to either beat me or my mother up. Well.....we moved away after that and I never really saw him again until my mother recently passed away. She told me to look for my father and when I did, I actually found out that he was missing. That's about the situation up till now."

Takashi hearkened to Akane's words as he tried to absorb and formulate every available piece of information. "Hmm....seems like your father was rather abusive to you when you were younger. Why would you even want to find him?"

The expression on Akane's face turned somber as she replied, "It's my mother's last wish....I only wish to fulfill that. Even if it means finding my father."

Takashi then started writing the word "Akane's father" on a piece of paper and proceeded to stick it up on the board beside him.

"OK, let's work with what we have so far....which is precious little I suspect. Firstly, the neighbor called the police to inform them that your father went missing after he got a job which required him to clean this abandoned building. Well, obviously, one information that is weird here is the fact that who would call someone to clean up an abandoned house? According to the file given to me, the police could not trace the Caller ID of the person who contacted your father. Now, this abandoned Building, which is called '13', has exactly thirteen levels. No one knows which floor your father was supposed to clean or which floor he actually got off at. I doubt there would be any CCTV there and even if there was, there would be no footage."

As Akane glanced at the board, she nodded her head in agreement.

Takashi glimpsed at her for a moment before he continued, "According to Detective Yamato, the people who once worked in that building a few years ago described the place as being haunted, and that the lifts actually led to another dimension. That is the reason why it was soon abandoned and no developer dared to demolish this building."

"Well....I'm going out to find this abandoned building, which was where you father was last seen. There is really nothing much we can do without heading to the crime scene itself. You can follow me if you wish to but the police already searched through the place and ended up with nothing so....don't get your hopes up Akane."

Takashi stood up as he gestured for Akane to follow him, who obediently followed.

Very soon, after giving directions to the cab driver, the two were soon standing outside the building.

Takashi squinted his eyes as he surveyed the building.

"Wow, this place really looks abandoned...it gives off a very weird vibe." Akane exclaimed like a child as though she was captivated by it.

"This building really has 13 levels. Well, lets risk it and go in then...." Takashi pulled Akane's hand, who struggled for a while as her face turned red, and the both of them soon entered the building.
