1 Arrival

What's more terrifying than knowing you'll be dying soon? Having no choice but to wait for young last breath. Seeing the clock of your life counting down.

That's the life of Raveil Gray. Suffering from a curse that would result in instant death the moment the clock runs out. Despite how prestigious his family was, or how gifted he was, he would not be able to escape death.

"What kind of sick joke is this?!" I yelled as I read my character description.

I'm nothing more than an average salary worker, but somehow, I found myself in the body of some dying side character in the fantasy novel I used to read.

I just went to sleep and the next thing I knew I was in a luxurious looking room that was probably big enough to be an apartment. With a difference face and a floating panel right in front of me. A body that felt a lot stronger than my original one.

"You have a broken ass ability but dying in two days!" A screamed in frustration. "Is there anyone unluckier than you!"

Thinking about it, Raveil was probably both the luckiest and unluckiest man alive, for now. He was handsome with beautiful long silver hair and golden eyes. The ladies admired him, but his eyes were only set on the love of his life. Raveil Gray was engaged to a woman named Scarlet, and it was a relationship built on love.

He's from a prestigious family of sword masters and was born with a powerful gift to support it. He had everything going for him, but the curse ruined everything. After his family found out that there was no way to get rid of the curse, they turned their backs on him. His fiancé had avoided him, as well as his comrades, leaving him isolated in the world.

"What's the point in making such a character?" I grumbled.

I don't know why I was sent to this world, but what can I do with two days left to live?

"At least tell me what to do," I muttered.

Thankfully, whoever it was who put me here decided to respond.

Task: Go to the temple of lament

Reward: Gift ???

"That doesn't help much, but it's better than waiting to die," I grabbed a coat hanging from a chair and left the room.

I passed by the family servants who avoided making eye contact with me. I guess getting involved with the abandoned son of the house was the last thing they wanted.

"Young master, where are you going dressed like that?" A maid dressed like a butler stopped me.

This is Esther, the head servant of the Gray family.

"Pardon?" I looked down to see that I was still wearing my sleep wear with only a coat on top.

"Have the maids dress yo-" "There's no need," I interrupted her. "I'm only going to the temple."

Thanks to the memories left behind by Raveil, I knew where the location of the temple was. In the back garden where Raveil's mother used to always go.

"Even so, yo-" I didn't let Esther finish and rushed to the temple. Unlike everyone else, I didn't have the luxury to waste time.

My life literally has a countdown, and I'm not planning on just watching it. Arriving at the temple, I found that it looked no different than ruins now. The walls were mossy, and the entrance was a mess of rubble.

"I'm here. Now what?"

Task: Go to the temple of lament

Task: Search for the gem of recognition

Reward: Gift???

"The what?" I stared at the panel in confusion.

There was no such item mentioned in the novel. Although the novel was cancelled, an item like that was never mentioned, even in the data books provided by the unknown author.

Receiving no reply, I begrudgingly began looking for anything that was considered to be a shiny rock. I found a few coins, broken glass, actual shiny rocks, and other useless things, but still no sign of anything that could be a gem of recognition.

Look up dumbass

I jumped at the sudden message, then looked up to the ceiling. I only saw a broken chandelier, but something caught my eye. In the center of the chandelier was a glowing gem. "Is that it?"

No shit sherlock

"You have no room to be sassy with me. I didn't want to be here!" I yelled at the panel.

Grabbing some rock from the ground, I began pelting them at the chandelier until it collapsed and fell to the ground. Carefully stepping over the broken glass, I picked up the white gem.

Task: Go to the temple of lament

Task: Search for the gem of recognition

Task: Go to the lake of serenity

Reward: Gift???

"So, we aren't done yet huh..."

Going through Raveil's memory once again, I went to the lake at the far corner of the estate. Not a lot of people went there considering there wasn't anything worthwhile in the lake. The only reason it was called lake of serenity was because it was peaceful.

"I'm here," I spread my arms dramatically.

Task: Go to the temple of lament

Task: Search for the gem of recognition

Task: Go to the lake of serenity

Task: Go to the center of the lake

Reward: Gift???

"You're joking, right?" I received no reply. "Prick."

I took off my shoes and began making my way to the middle of the lake. The water only reached to my waist, so the journey was more of an annoyance than a challenge. Once I was near the center, I noticed a black pearl in the water.

"Let me guess..."
