CHAPTER ONE

"Huuueehhhhh!"

I woke up taking a huge breath of fresh air. I quickly realized I was laying on a couch that couldn't quite fit me. I was hanging off on both sides by about half a foot. I sit up and hear something coming from in front on me. I quickly look up to see a silvery white screen.

*Ding*

At first I was surprised by the sudden sound and words forming in front of me. I looked at it closely and saw silver letters that seemed to shimmer slightly. The moment I stopped concentrating on the words they seemed to shimmer away leaving the clear shapes of the words, allowing me to see past them. I selected the left yes, wondering why there where only yes options.

[Hey, Cupid! I decided to leave you a small last message in your system. Thanks for the name by the way! All my friends seem to like it. Anyway, I should explain the parts of your system. The first part is the "status" option. It includes your name, age, race, class, health, stamina, regeneration, strength, agility, durability, intelligence, DNA, and your system points. Next part is the "store" option. In it you can purchase items, weapons, abilities, bloodlines, etcetera from fiction in your previous world. You can buy all these things with system points, or SP. You can get this SP from two ways. First way is to exchange real money for SP. The system can convert any currency, and the exchange rate it 100 USD is equal to 1 SP. The world you are currently in doesn't use USD though, they use things called credits. There are five types of credits. The first is regular credits, which are actually almost the same as one USD. The second form of credits is World credits. They are equivalent to 100 credits. The third form of credits is Solar credits. They are equivalent to 1,000 credits. The fourth form of credits is Galaxy credits. They are equivalent to 100,000 credits. The last form of credits is Universe credits. They are equivalent to 1,000,000 credits. Anyway, the second way to get SP is the next part of your system, the "quest" function. This can be various things from working out to killing beasts. Everything you come across has a certain amount of SP you get from killing it based off its strength. You can get half the amount for killing a creature by just defeating it, but every time you defeat it, it gives you half the amount from the time before. Now the final component of the system is the "inventory" function. This allows you to store and bring out anything that isn't bigger than your body. This is also where you will get any rewards you get from the system. It is also where your other four wishes currently are. Now, you should probably go receive your gifts. Oh, by the way, I left you some identification in the safe in your closet to the right of you. You'll probably need it. Well, I suppose this is a farewell. You may not die for a long wile after all. I could see you before then, but that won't be anytime soon. I hope you die painlessly. Goodbye.]

I look to my right and see a hallway with three doors in it. I get up and open the one on the left. It was a cupboard with blankets and pillows. It also had a small safe at the bottom. The safe didn't have any form of keypad or dial on it, so I tried just opening it. As I put my hand on the handle, I heard a clicking sound and the safe opened. Inside was what looked like a drivers license. It had a picture of me and had "Cupid Styll" next to it. Guess my new last name is Styll. Sounds odd, but cool at the same time. Under my name, the card had "Age: 17". I'm seventeen now too? Two years older than my former body was. As I held the card, I accidentally moved my finger a bit not the surface of it and saw it start to swipe to the right. Is this thing electronic? It doesn't look or feel like a screen? Seems this new world I'm in is probably highly advanced compared to my old world. I'll have to learn how this works later. Anyway, this new screen on the card has all the types of credits with a zero by all of them as well as the words "DNA Number: 145825" on it. Do they classify a person by their DNA? I'll need to learn about this later too. It shouldn't be to hard with my intellect. Oh right, I need to collect my wishes! I head back over to the couch and think 'inventory' in my head. What pops up looks like 10 black squares with one of them having a cardboard box in it. I also see some sort of slider on the side. I try to touch it to go down, but my finger goes right trough it. Next I try thinking 'down' and the 10 boxes scroll up to show 10 more. I think 'up' and then concentrate on the box with my package in it. It zooms in on it to show a new screen.

DNA? I would get another strand of DNA? Wouldn't that give me a genetic disorder? I click yes anyway trusting the system and the screen goes away only to be replaced by another screen a second later.

*Ding*

[Opening BEGINNERS PACKAGE]

Then the screen zoomed back out and I saw the boxes again. I saw that the package icon disappear and in its place appeared a DNA strand. Or I would have seen that if I could pay attention to that right now. At the moment, there where a few changes in my body taking place that where more important at the moment. The first thing I realized was that I could feel my body and felt like I could make changes to it. With just a thought, my hand became heavier and thicker. It didn't look any different, but it had a lot more strength behind it. The next thing I noticed was vary similar to the first feeling, but instead of changing the mass of my hand, it changed into the couch I'm sitting on. Then I change it to the metal the safe is made of, then back to normal. Next thing that happened was that I could see in the dark. I walked over to the corner of the room and reached out with my hand. Instead of hitting the wall, my hand shifted into the shadow. Before I could experiment more, I got a small headache and I could suddenly remember everything I've ever seen, heard, or felt. I also got some memories that I don't know where they came from. They were memories of my current body. Apparently his parents died when he was fifteen. He now goes to an academy called "Inter-solar Gene Highschool" where teenagers learn to use some sort of genetic manipulation to become stronger so they can join something called a Galactic collage. At Galactic collage, they start fighting any threats to society that roam the universe. Apparently, my first guess was correct. In this world, humans and other intelligent races roam the universe to become stronger. They change their DNA to do things like breath fire, turn into creatures, and read minds. My wishes will probably look like a gene too. I then finally notice the DNA strand in my inventory. I focus on it, and it shows a giant gambling wheel with hundreds of words on it. I see a few like water breathing and metal skin. Bellow the wheel was a button labeled "[SPIN]". I decide to press it and the wheel starts spinning so fast it just looks like a blur of colors. After half a minute I can finally separate the different sections. After another minute I can see the words again. They seem to be slowly stoping changing. After thirty more seconds the words stop changing and now I just need to wait on the wheel to stop. It finally stops and the wheel disappears entirely other than the segment it landed on. The segment goes closer to the screen until I can make out the words.
