Jack turned his head slowly towards the person that seemed to want his attention.

When his eyes finally fixated themselves on the person as well he could see a girl with blue eyes, which were framed by a tinge of dark eyeshadow, looking back at him.

But what caught his attention right after her shadowy eyes was the fact that she had deep-colored blue hair that was dyed in that color to hide her natural blonde one underneath.

Why did he know that she was a natural blond?

It was easy to discern with her slightly longer than shoulder-length hair still having her natural color at their ends. Meaning the deep blue color did not cover all of her hair.

The person in question raised a brow questioningly when she saw him eyeballing her.

"Yes?" Jack asked with a quick question to get the conversation going.

"Who are you? You are sitting on someone else's seat by the way." The girl answered and from that alone, Jack could guess now what this is all about.

Taking a quick look around the classroom he couldn't see any other free desks.

"Looks like I have to sortie that out later. Not going to enjoy the visit to that woman's office again. Well, the person that normally sits here doesn't seem to be present, so I guess today I'll be the one sitting here. Thanks for the heads up, though." He just shrugged his shoulders and even smiled a little bit mischievously.

The girl kept looking at him. Now with a slightly raised brow. "You seem to have met our principal from the sound of it. Not a happy meeting, huh?"

"Not in the slightest. From your words, I can also guess that she got a reputation. Oh, and the name's Jack by the way. I'm new here in town. So that is why you probably didn't see me before." Jack was quite happy to find out he was not the only one that was targeted by that old crow. "What's your name?" he added.

But then again, who really likes their principal if that person is not some saintly cool person. And mostly, they aren't.

"I'm Eve. Welcome to Summerville. But why transfer to some remote and boring town like this?"

It looked like Jack got her interest.

"...I wonder about that, too." he shrugged his shoulders again. "Though it's mainly so I get some distance from a few family matters. Boring stuff, really, and I would rather not bore you with that."

He smiled lightly at the end and one could clearly see him hesitate to answer truthfully at first.

When Eve heard his answer she seemed to realize something. "Oh, sorry that I asked something unpleasant."

"Not your fault, you couldn't have known. I am actually thankful that you engaged me in a conversation. I think otherwise I would have died of boredom. I nearly went back to sleep as well." Jack chuckled a little and Eve smiled in response.

Just when Eve wanted to say something again, the door to the classroom opened again and a loud voice could be heard that interrupted them.

"Good morning, everyone! I hope you are all well at this joli day." A woman with long cinnamon‐brown hair, some light facial freckles on her cheeks, and dark green eyes was the source of said loud voice.

If Jack was remembering right this should be Ms. Bissette, his french lecturer.

Ms. Bissette walked over to the front of her desk and looked around if all people were present like she always does.

But the very moment her eyes landed on Jack she clearly widened her smile. With a used movement she picked up a book from her desk.

'Oh, no...' Jack could already figure out what was coming at him now.

"It seems we have a new face among our little group. You must be Jackson Cole Frost, right?" She was literally glancing over the student list in her hands where his name was written in full to not say anything wrong.

Right, did he already mention that he had a ridiculously long name? His status only showed him the short version that most people would refer to him, but some people tend to go all out.

Well, ridiculous may be exaggerating it a little, but at least he was not yet used to having his middle name called out and therefore was a little bit annoyed by it.

Did people feel this way about their middle names as well? He wondered a little.

"Just Jack is fine, Ms. Bissette..." He only sighed a little.

"Hmm, it is quite a mouth full, isn't it? But why be shy about it? Now, why don't you come to the front and introduce yourself to your fellow classmates, yes?"

"Do I really have to do that?" Jack was clearly not happy about this. Not one bit.

"Oui (Yes)." She gestures a hand towards the front after answering in French.

"Eh bien soit (Very well then)..." Good thing he understood some basic French by now and could reply in that language.

Though he may have misunderstood the actual order that he received.

He was just supposed to introduce himself in English, yet he went on in French as best as he could after walking to the front and starting his introduction.

That got a surprised look from Ms. Bissette and mostly confused looks from the others. Barely a few even understood what he was saying.

At least after he was done he could just sit back down and relax. He even pushed aside the awkward notification that his French had leveled up to the next level.

It clearly didn't help with his reddening cheeks after finding out that it would have been alright to just introduce himself normally.

'Ugh...I hate school. It's somehow worse than just standing on a stage and singing to people.' He actually had more problems with this than performing his music to a larger crowd.

Well, he was clearly mostly focused on singing than anything so that could be the reason why he didn't feel so conscious about the gazes at him.

He wondered if it also could be his new body that started to feel somewhat twitchy when he had to stand at the front.

Anyway, all that aside it probably got him some extra points for showcasing that he was not a complete beginner.

At the very least now he understood that he was not behind in this course. - Hopefully. But delusions always started grand.

Glancing at his French skill it showed a 1.5/5. It made his eyebrow twitch. He didn't even know there were point values. Why did he feel rather insulted also...
