Chapter 21: Cravings

My hands shake as I walk through the darkened streets, my fists clenched into tight fists. I shouldn’t have gone to see her, but I couldn’t help myself. It’s like I’m an addict, and she’s the drug that’s taken me over.
I hadn’t expected this to happen…the bonding. I have been with many women, and none have given me even the slightest notion they might be a possible mate. But Kait…she’s different. She’s the one jewel in a chest of gold.
She’s been in his bed, and that thought makes me want to crumble, a feeling I’ve never experienced.
But now, other matters need my attention.
I enter a back alley, wet and cold, wind tunneling down the damp bricks. The moon’s reflection in a pool of dirty water is disturbed by my footfalls. My boots are soaked with water, but I don’t care.
