8 Reaching Level 10

"Player Stats," Chen voiced out.

It was time to check if his EXP had increased.

----------------------

<Player stats>

Player Name: CR5

Title: none

Class: Ad-Mage (Assassin + Warrior)

Level: 8

HP: 400/400

MP: 38/50

EXP: 22,500/64,000

---------------------

"Yes," Chen voiced out as he tightened his fist with a look of excitement.

A sense of relief washed over him as he stared at the current EXP readings. Finally, the level-up issue had been solved.

Now that the main issue had been resolved it was time to move into the next phase of things. Currently, worldwide, the highest leveled players had reached 45. Averagely, players were around level 30 - 40 so he had a lot of catching up to do.

Despite that, he also needed to find a means of generating income from here that would help him in the real world.

All these would be impossible to try and achieve if he hadn't resolved the level-up issue. Now there was room for a lot of possibilities.

Chen stood in place for some time, generating plans and arranging how he would take action to achieve the goals Pete set.

'Even if the barrier doesn't restrict me from leaving Brether Mist, it would be unwise to leave here before reaching level 10 first... I need to increase in strength as much as I can to be able to handle challenges from future quests,' Chen thought lengthily.

The first thing Chen thought of that he could sell in the outside world was 'The Apple Of Reset' since it was valuable in the real world. However, even after acquiring and selling it, that still wouldn't be enough to settle his debt with Chief Enzo.

Chief Enzo had given him a month to acquire the money and the tree that bore 'The Apple Of Reset' only appeared once a month with a single fruit before withering after a day of staying up.

Time flowed two times faster in Overworld which meant two months here would be one month in the real world so Chen would be able to acquire one Apple Of Reset before the one-month time limit for payment was up if he came back to the area outside the barrier.

However, since selling it wouldn't be enough to pay the debt he had with Chief Enzo he would need to find something else to make up for it.

At least there was hope now, Chen just needed to be very hardworking and lucky for the next one month, both in Overworld and the real world.

With this thought in mind, he headed deeper into the Brether Mist forest to hunt more creatures.

-

Shing! Shing! Shing!

Slicing sounds rang through a part of the forest as Chen hunted down another group of creatures called the Boarvoids.

These creatures were giant boars with dark-colored fur, reddish eyes, and tusks half the size of a full-grown adult. Even though they were supposed to be low-level creatures, they looked quite intimidating.

It had been hours already and Chen had spent all this time grinding. He already hunted down three sets of creatures lurking in the forest at this point, all ranging from level 3 - to 5 creatures.

Not only had Chen picked up on Pete's gaming skills due to memory and reflex action but these creatures were quite weak as well so even though they were in groups, Chen found it easy to slaughter them.

The cry of another one of these beasts rang out again as the last one fell to the ground after Chen's dagger stabbed into its head.

-6000HP

<Player has killed a level 5 Boarvoid>

<+2000 EXP>

<Player has leveled up>

Chen sheathed his dagger at this point and squatted to pick up the loot of the creatures he had just slaughtered.

<Player has picked up Boarvoid horn(3/5)>

(Acquire two more to unlock a one time use Boarvoid lord summoning card)

Chen stared at the notification as he picked up this particular loot. He had seen this earlier but not all Boarvoids dropped a horn so it was quite difficult to acquire five even though he had already managed to kill more than twelve of them.

<Player has reached level 10>

<New skill unlocked for Enchanter Class>

(Wind Arrows: fires five wind Arrows at designated enemies increasing damage by 300 points on every successful strike.)

«Cost 5MP for each activation with a cooldown of thirty seconds»

<New skill unlocked for Assassin Class>

(Crucial strike: Sneak attack an opponent and successfully strike them from a blind point, increasing damage by 1000 points.)

«Cost 10MP for each activation with a cooldown of three minutes»

<New skill unlocked for Warrior class>

(Crescent division: A crescent-shaped slash from a sword that increases attack damage by 500 points.)

«Cost 3MP for each activation»

<+10 Attributes points>

Chen stared at the notifications one after the other, glad that he had finally achieved level 10.

'I still need a sword for the Warrior Class,' Chen thought. The Warrior skills couldn't be utilized properly without a sword.

Skills for each class were not unlocked at every new level. Only at specific levels would new skills be unlocked except a player decided to use Attributes points to unlock new skills or got them from a quest.

Chen decided he would get a sword when he left this village since he hadn't found any sword from the loot dropped by the creatures he had killed so far.

<Player can now head to a city of their choice>

<Move to a designated teleportation station to be transported to your desired city>

A map appeared after this notification popped up and Chen checked it out before keeping it away.

"Before I leave I need to get these five Boarvoid horns," Chen voiced out with a look of resolve.

He had been in Overworld now for up to twelve hours, which was only six hours in the real world. It would be around noon and he should be logging out to have breakfast but he wasn't ready to leave here just yet.

He decided that even if he didn't head to a city before logging out, he would at least get the summoning card for the Boarvoid lord as that would add to his current strength.

Thinking about it now, Chen realized since he was now at level ten, his real-world strength must have increased.

He could choose an ability to bring into the real world but there was only one problem with that. Bringing a game ability or skills from your stats into the real world would make you incapable of using it in the game.

It was like trade and right now Chen didn't think he had enough skills and abilities in the game to make such a trade. There was none he was willing to lose here in the game just yet.

He decided to put this aside for now and went on to hunt more Boarvoids.

-

Hours later, Chen had finally managed to get the fifth Boarvoid horn. He held a yellow card in his hand with the emblem of a boar head on it.

"Not only is it a one-time use but it also lasts for ten minutes... level 15 Boarvoid lord," Chen muttered as he stared at the information the summoning card displayed.

He was currently at level 11 so he was wondering if this summoning card was worth it since it was just level 15.

However recalling how the game worked from Pete's memories, Chen knew that a level 15 Boarvoid Lord would be more powerful than a regular level 15 Boarvoid. Besides that, there would be other perks not present in a normal Boarvoid.

Chen decided to check his stats once more.

Spare Attribute Points: 16

-------------------------

Chen was satisfied with the progress so far and he currently had 16 spare attribute points.

"Intelligence will improve magic points and speed will help me be a better assassin so I should focus on these two more," Chen thought out loud.

The attributes would always increase whenever he leveled up and he felt the warrior class should only be used in suiting situations so he wanted to focus more on the Assassin and Enchanter Class.

Chen decided to add five attribute points each to speed and intelligence.

<5 points successfully added to speed>

<5 points successfully added to intelligence>

Chen saw the difference almost immediately after increasing his intelligence by 5 points. Magic points went up by a little like it was waiting for the boost.

After the speed boost as well, his body felt a little lighter.

He decided to add one point each to defense, agility, and endurance as well.

<1 point successfully added to Defense>

<1 point successfully added to Agility>

<1 point successfully added to Endurance>

Right now Chen wanted to log out of the game as he had been here for close to twenty-four hours already. He decided he would move to a city the next time he logged into the game.

He couldn't keep grinding here anyways, the EXP he got from killing the creatures was becoming too small for him so leveling up would become an arduous process if he decided to stay.

"Log out," Chen voiced out.
