Chapter 56: Invisible

"I think we should stop now" Jun suggested weirded out by what he senced.

Yinling nodded and got off of Jun and put on her bra and top. Although they both hated that their intimate time was interrupted, they knew whatever they senced couldn't be any good.

"We should focus on cultivating tonight," Jun proposed, his voice steady despite the underlying tension. "Let's aim to increase our body tempering level to 100 if possible."

Yinling's brow furrowed slightly as she absorbed Jun's suggestion, a sense of apprehension tightening in her chest. "But what do you think that was?" she asked, her voice tinged with a hint of uncertainty as she glanced back at Jun, seeking reassurance in his gaze.

As Jun slid his arms through the sleeves of his shirt, he voiced his uncertainty. "I don't know... It felt like something shifted, but then again, it's hard to pinpoint."

Yinling furrowed her brow, her arms instinctively crossing beneath her plump chest as she pondered their situation.

Settling down next to Jun, Yinling suggested "We should consider asking the others if they sensed anything unusual,".

Jun nodded in agreement, his gaze drifting across the expanse of the room. "But we don't even know where they are in the huge home," he reminded her, a hint of frustration creeping into his tone.

"How about we use our divine sence? We can retract it fast so that even Elder Lili wont sence it" Yinling suggested.

"Not a bad idea," Jun acknowledged, his tone reflecting a sense of urgency. "But you'll have to be quick about it."

Nodding resolutely, Yinling closed her eyes, her focus shifting inward as she prepared to execute her plan. With a swift motion, she expanded her divine sense around the house, her mind racing to process the information flooding in.

As Yinling's senses swept through the rooms, she noted the activities of their fellow disciples. Some were engaged in focused weapon practice, their movements precise and purposeful. Others... well, let's just say their right hand was getting more exercise than their left.

Meanwhile, Jun observed Yinling's efforts with a mixture of anticipation and concern, his eyes tracking her movements with unwavering attention. It was a risky move, but right now wasn't a good time to approach Elder Lili about this.

Yinling withdrew her divine sense, a furrow forming between her brows as she glanced over at Jun, her expression reflecting her confusion.

"Something feels off," she admitted, her voice tinged with uncertainty.

Jun's concern deepened as he noticed her puzzled look. "What do you mean?" he asked, his tone gentle but filled with worry.

Yinling hesitated for a moment before responding. "It's strange... nobody seemed to notice when I used my divine sense, not even Elder Lili," she explained, her voice trailing off with uncertainty.

Jun's eyes widened in disbelief. "Not even her?" he echoed, his confusion mirroring Yinling's own.

It is a well known fact on Eternal continent and even the novels Jun has read that cultivators of equal or similar footing can sense each others divine sence when they are covered by it. Yet why didn't Elder Lili at least something when she was enveloped by it.

"Let me give it a shot," Jun closed his eyes, activating his epiphany system to enhance his reaction speed. Swiftly, he expanded his divine sense, surpassing Yinling's speed, and meticulously cataloged every detail of the mansion—locations, fellow disciples, and even the whereabouts of the bathrooms.

Elder Lili remained in her office on the 4th floor, and despite Jun's expectations, her lack of reaction to his divine sense puzzled him. Shouldn't this be the moment where she erupts with indignation, screaming, "Who dares spy on this old woman!"?

Jun lingered a moment longer, observing her demeanor. To his astonishment, she carried on with her day as if his divine sense didn't exist, leaving him bewildered. Why couldn't she detect his energy when peeking?

Retracting his divine sence, Jun opened his eyes.

"You're correct, but it's bizarre... I mean, I get why Elder Lili's disciples didn't sense it, but for Elder Lili herself not to detect anything?" Jun expressed, his astonishment evident in his tone.

But why was that the case? With his epiphany system on, Juns cognitive processes accelerated to a breakneck speed, churning through thousands of potential explanations in a matter of seconds. Ideas flickered like fleeting stars in the vast expanse of his mind, each one considered and discarded in the relentless pursuit of clarity, Jun realized what could be the problem.

Then, in a sudden flash of insight, he felt the pieces of the puzzle aligning.

The only real difference between him and those cultivators who use Divine Sence is their cultivation system or in this case, his and Yinlings new energy they are cultivating. Could no one really sense this energy or is it something else.

But how should he test it, he cant really use any of his techniques since he's only in the body tempering realm and isn't able to utilize his energy.

"We cant really test it now so lets first try asking around if they senced something" Jun stood up.

Agreeing, both Jun and Yinling headed outside, navigating the halls of the mansion perhaps even better that some of those disciples who have stayed here for years.

Going towards a large area within the home, they approached Yu Zhu if Jun remembered correctly. He was currently laying down, staring at the ceiling mindlessly, probably recovering from the blow of his fallen family.

As they neared him, their shadows engulfed Yu Zhu's form, casting a looming presence over him.

"Excuse me but... this might sound strang—" Jun began, but before he could finish, Yu Zhu let out a startled squeal, his reaction akin to that of a frightened child.

Covering their ears, they saw him look up at them realizing it was just his masters new disciples.

"Don't sneak up on me like that," Yu Zhu managed to say, his voice still carrying traces of surprise. "Also... how the heck did you two manage to sneak up on me?!" he demanded, his incredulity evident.

Jun offered a sheepish smile in response. "We didn't intend to sneak up on you," he explained. "We just walked over. I guess we're just naturally stealthy."

"I'm not buying it," Yu Zhu interjected, hastily brushing away traces of dry tears from his cheeks. "Anyway, what do you two want?"

Glancing at Yinling, who mirrored his intense gaze, Jun leaned in slightly. "It's just... while we were in our room, we sensed something change in the sky," he explained, his voice tinged with uncertainty. "We were wondering if you felt it too."

Yu Zhu let out an exasperated sigh, his frustration evident. "You came to interrupt my time for this?" he groaned. "No, I didn't sense anything. Maybe you just imagined it. Now, please, go away and leave me be," he replied, flipping over to face the other direction, effectively dismissing them.

Realizing there was no point in pressing further, Jun and Yinling silently leftt, though not without gaining some insights.

Firstly, Yu Zhu's assertion that he hadn't sensed anything left them to ponder whether their experience had been merely a product of their imagination or if there was something more profound at play. Secondly, they couldn't help but wonder about Yu Zhu's apparent obliviousness to their arrival—did it hold any connection to Elder Lili's failure to detect their divine sense as well?
