Chapter 41: Scarlet Rage

"So now what?" asked Jun

Elder Lili hurried to them "Yes, now that you have joined my peak, naturally you're qualified to practice our Scarlet Rage technique"

Jun hearing this knew the deal with these techniques, although it was powerful, it always led the user to become weak afterwards.

"but maybe... maybe I can negate that effect if I move a few things here and there" Jun thought. If possible, wouldn't he be able to gain 5x his normal strength without any drawbacks if he improved this technique? Imagine being tied with your opponent and all of a sudden you roar and gain 5x your strength.

"reminds me of a certain show" mused Jun.

"When can we get started" asked Yinling intrigued by this technique. She herself has never heard of a technique that can improve your combat power by 5x in a short period of time. Such a technique is naturally very valuable but why is it in the hands of a 6-star sect? Could Jun be correct on this being a hidden 10-star sect?

"Follow me," Elder Lili motioned, leading them up the mansion's grand staircase. Their ascent was light and swift, but this wasn't the same situation for Elder Lili's other disciples so they decided to go around it.

They traversed a grand corridor, passing numerous rooms before arriving at a spacious living area. Elder Lili reached for a slim volume on a vast bookshelf.

"Here, take this," she said, handing the book to Jun with a gesture that seemed almost ceremonial.

"This is it?" Jun looked at a red 2-paged book on the so-called Scarlet Rage technique.

"Just read it, then complain to me afterward" Elder Lili retorted with a hint of irritation, settling into the plush couch with an expectant gaze fixed on Jun.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Jun asked warily to the Elder Lili who was eyeing him intensely, her arms crossed under her bountiful chest.

"Read it" She raised her chin provokingly "Then tell me again if it's just a simple 2-page book" She smiled deviously, ready to see him embarrass himself.

Jun raised an eyebrow upon hearing this.

"Oh... and if I read it and manage to gain an understanding, what then Elder Lili" Jun responds confidently.

Elder Lili scrunched her eyebrows in confusion, she didn't know why Jun sounded so confident but ignored it, after all, it took her 10 days just to gain a simple understanding of this technique, even the current patriarch took 7 days to learn it.

"If you win, I Elder Lili will owe you a favor" She smiled causing gasps of shock amongst her disciples. Yu Zhu couldn't believe the words coming out her mouth, but yet, he could understand why after seeing them easily pass the test.

Elder Lili is known as one of the only female Gold Core powerhouses in Scarlet Sect. The amount of resources and manpower she has can cause mountains to be moved and can pile gold as high as mountains.

Yet here she is, promising a little foundation establishment expert her favor if he wins a bet with her? Who would believe that?

Jun saw her intense stare and wouldn't be lying if he hadn't noticed something just a little down from her head. He felt his attention waver but caught himself before his gaze could wander too far.

Although he had Yinling, no man could not stare at something he likes.

"And if I lose..."

Elder Lili leaned back on the couch, her hands spread apart on the couch showing off her big chest unintentionally.

"if you lose..." Elder Lili touched her chin in thought "You owe me a favor, seems fair right?" she proposed, a sly smile curving her lips.

Elder Lili wasn't dumb, these two kids are capable of leapfrogging an entire realm, and if you look at the bigger picture, they are bound to soar to the sky and become absolute powerhouses. Right now she has a chance to form a relationship and perhaps even a favor before they get to the stage where she could only look up at them.

That being the case, she still didn't think he could understand the Scarlet Rage Technique that easily.

Now Jun was feeling the heat, beads of sweat formed on his forehead as he tried to stare at only her face. Does she seriously not know what she is doing?

"Ummm... okay?"

Elder Lili heard the uncertain tone and felt excited, she could see the hesitation on his face and knew he was starting to roll back so she quickly took action.

"You have 5 days to gain an understanding, your time starts now"

Jun turned around and sat on the couch, relieved that he didn't have to look in her direction. "That was close" Jun whispered under his breath in relief.

"What was close" Yinling asked, her lips mere inches away from his ear as she looked down to look at the technique.

Jun jumped, her proximity catching him off guard. "Yinling!" he exclaimed, a mix of admonishment and surprise in his tone.

Yinling looked at Jun innocently, not understanding what was wrong.

"Nevermind, just let me start, this won't take long" Jun said opening the book to start.

Yinling heard their little bet and kind of pitied Elder Lili, is she knew the true genius of Jun, would her spirit and pride as a cultivator be crushed? Her worldview definitely was, Yinling felt fortunate Jun is now her Dao companion, after all... what his is mine.

Jun turned on his epiphany phase and soon felt the characters in the book fly past him at light speed. Insights about the technique flooded his mind.

Elementary Understanding...

Jun felt like his mind moving at thousands of miles per second, his thoughts were crystal clear. Connections were being made that others would never discover, references that would be obscure to others were like the alphabet in his eyes.

Intermediate Understanding...

Advanced Understanding...

Jun turned the page and felt his mind going faster and faster, the feeling of learning at such speed became addicting. Jun connected the knowledge he learned from the earlier pages and started adding the second page to it.

Mastered...

BOOM

Jun closed the book shut, causing a loud sound to echo in the silent room. Not even a minute had passed since he started.

Yinling smiled in anticipation knowing what was to come, Yinling could already imagine Elders Lili's face and the others when they saw Jun not just gained a simple understanding, but mastered the whole technique.

Elder Lili, momentarily thrown off by the abrupt end to Jun's reading, waited for him to admit defeat. But instead, she heard two words that changed everything.

"I'm done"
