Chapter 27: Safe?

"Of course! the answer is light!"

Jun quickly absorbed the nearest light attribute, integrating it with the energy being used to keep him afloat.

Although at the beginning, the light attribute only passively increases his reflexes and heals certain injuries faster than normal. Once he had reached an energy control of 20%, he had neglected the fact that the way he manipulated his attributes had also improved immensely.

Focusing, he noticed as soon as his light attribute had entered his energy, it took on the properties of light, becoming super flexible and light yet filled with an unprecedented speed unlike before.

[Ding! Energy Control +1%]

[Ding! Energy Control +1%]

As quickly as it became integrated, it flowed out of his body pushing him forward with such speed that even his surroundings became nothing but a blur.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

Zooming past trees, if one were to look from under the tree line in the forest, they would only notice a fleeting beam of light flicker in and out of existence leaving them wondering what the heck they just saw.

Too fast! - too fast! Jun could barely hear himself or see, his mouth quickly becoming overwhelmed by the air in his way. Shooting just above the tree line, a ravine of devastation was being imprinted on the land, yet even such destruction could barely keep up at the speed they were going.

"Shit! Dial it back! Dial it back!

Urging his light attribute, he quickly pulled back his light attribute, reducing the integration of light attribute coming into his energy. He realized now that perhaps he had put too much light attribute into his energy.

"First my fire attribute and now this!"

Now flying at a more steady but breakneck pace, he felt himself going 10x faster than his fastest speed, but this was just the beginning. If he could get used to the speed he just experienced, couldn't he just throw a rock at someone at light speed ending their existence?

Feeling something wiggling in his arms, he turned down to see what it was.

"Well... I sincerely hope she remembers why I did this"

In a not-so-healthy state, she seemed to be asleep in his arms. "Maybe she's just tired... I hope" he thought, trying to comfort himself.

Continuing to fly, he turned his head and saw he had made considerable progress, enough so that he couldn't see the mushroom cloud or the blue energy thing "But... Is that a good thing or no..."

This could mean one of two things, one he had flown away enough so he put a considerable distance between whatever that thing was, or two...

"Nope! Nope! don't think about that"

Just about to increase the output of his light attribute, in the distance, he noticed a multitude of strange objects on the ground.

"Wait... is that a sect?!"

Upon flying closer to it, he observed a large piece of land occupied by various traditional buildings, people could be seen coming in and out of their houses. Some were practicing their martial arts in an open area while others on their sword skills.

"Yeah... no"

Flying around, he quickly flew past while vaguely hearing various voices prick his ears from afar.

"Foolish Junior! Dare to trespass!"

"Who dares invade this seat's sect!"

"I am the 5th ancestor! Come and become my cauldron as your punishment, boy!"

"Must be a low-level sect, what kind of 5th-generation ancestor is only at the spiritual pillar realm?" Jun thought, trying his best to ignore the last thing he heard.

He considered warning them but quickly discarded the idea. What if his good intentions were met with hostility?

Pushing his light attribute slowly up, he felt himself go faster and faster.

10x faster...

15x faster...

20x faster...

Faster! - Faster! Jun kept increasing his speed while trying to balance his energy reserve which proved to be successful. His mind was racing at thousands of times faster than normal, allowing him to quickly find ways that were deemed impossible to improve his new technique.

But even with his constantly improving energy control and almost mastered technique, some things could not be changed.

"I... I can't go on much longer!" Feeling his energy close to zero, Jun slowed to a halt, the world around him coming back into focus.

"Is that a city?"

Knowing this was his chance, he flew down first to the ground, never before so happy to be on the ground.

I mean, who could blame him, who wants to drop their energy to zero while dozens of miles in the sky?

Landing a mile or two away outside of the city, he gently placed down the unconscious Yinling, leaning her on a tree.

Flopping to the ground himself next to her, he felt his mind crash back, his epiphany fading away.

"That... was too close"

Closing his eyes, scenes of the explosion flashed through his mind unwelcomed, the memory of the emotions he experienced were rampaging inside. Lifting his right arm, he opened his eyes and noticed it trembling uncontrollably.

"I guess... I was more afraid than I thought"

Putting his arm down, he kept his eyes open, he didn't want to relive that moment. Previously, he had been too busy cultivating or running away to notice how this world had started to affect him.

"And here I was, lecturing her... what a joke I am"

Jun clenched his hand.

He wasn't like those protagonists in novels, always ready to face the next challenge without being fazed. Unlike them, he felt the weight of his fears and doubts, did that make him a coward?

Having enough of those thoughts, he focused on recovering his energy, it wasn't wise to be near humans without being able to defend yourself.

Running the Azure Sword Cultivation technique, the energy from his surroundings was quickly being swallowed by him greedily.

Within minutes, his energy reserves had been filled by 20% allowing him to use his techniques.

"Lets first start with her"

Turning his body to face hers, he didn't know what to heal. "Should I try the head?" He wasn't a doctor by any means... but let's be reasonable here, the head sounded logical.

Putting his hand on her forehead, he adjusted the frequency of his energy like before to accelerate the healing process, making it soothing and calm. Finishing up, he tried his best to heal every part of her body just in case she had any hidden injuries.

But in vain, she did not wake up.
