Chapter 14: Mysterious Tournament?

Looking at the beautiful mountain peaks that were not too big and not too small made him question if God personally carved these himself.

Turning to view his backside, he saw a perfect hourglass figure with beautiful plump buns drawing his every attention.

"Damn... I have become the very thing I feared if any young master comes across me..." He could already imagine the troubles that came with being this beautiful.

Looking at his mask and cloak, he knew buying such clothing was the best decision he had recently made. "Sometimes my genius... it's almost frightening". Putting on the skintight clothes given by Yinling, his body soon brought out the best of this dress.

It was a pure white dress with gold trimming that fit seamlessly along his curves.

Having enough, he grabbed his cloak and mask and left the bathroom. Upon walking out he saw Yinling waiting for him, although it felt slightly uncomfortable walking in such tight clothing, he felt an odd sense of pleasure getting attention from people.

Seeing her jaw wide open made this worth it already "Is ther-" abruptly stopping, he realized his voice changed to a more feminine hero voice which sounded pretty good.

Yinling didn't know what to say at this point, should she feel envious? shocked? or both. Why did he look better than her in her own dress??

Just as she was about to speak, she heard a loud bell ringing twice through the city alerting everyone. Knowing what this meant, she got serious and spoke "Get ready, the event is going to start in 10 minutes, we should get going"

Hearing this mentally startled him "Damn already? At least give me a minute to adjust mentally to this" he said while putting on his cloak and mask while also telling Yinling to do it as well.

"So where exactly is this place? I've seen the surrounding area and inside of the city, there didn't seem to be a giant arena" he questioned.

"just follow me and shut up" Perhaps she was feeling a bit jealous when answering but they seriously needed to start moving.

Opening the balcony door she left at her top speed toward the center of the city with Jun closely following.

Upon arriving, they discovered a giant line of people being processed going into the trunk of the giant tree "Is there an arena inside the tree trunk" If that's the case, how is this tree still alive?

While they were getting in line, he had so many questions but realized if he didn't enter this tournament, he wasn't going to get any rewards. Although he may cause a lot of attention to fall on him, who wouldn't want to recruit him into their forces after he shows off his genius.

"Hypothetically speaking here... if you wanted to join this tournament where would you go?" he asked Yinling.

Hearing this question, she grew a little suspicious, from the little time they had gotten to know each other, Jun doesn't seem like the type who wants trouble coming his way but she answered either way.

"If I remember correctly, if you want to join this tournament, you just have to ask while you are being processed that you want to join and they will tell you what to do" she said.

Nodding, he sighed in relief, with that out of the way he could focus on what was truly important, hearing the gossip.

"Gosh I'm so lonely" said a random person.

"This damn city lord, I have better things to do than coming here to his boring event"

"Cant this line go any faster"

"Am I still a man after what my dao companion di-"

Okay... maybe that's not the type of gossip he wants to hear, moving his hearing around he heard some shocking news.

"Did you hear, an outer elder of Sky Palace arrived here during the night"

"Seriously? Why would he come here"

"There been rumors that the Young patriarch is hunting for his 12th wife"

"Really? I heard he's is trying to conquer his fear of women"

"Both of you are wrong, I heard he's out to earn experience to become the next patriarch"

Hearing this gossip brought a solemn expression to his face. These rumors may all have falsehood in them but they all share one thing, a wild young master has approached but this time it's the final boss.

Shouldn't he appear at the final stage, what is he doing here in the starter village??

Slowly but surely, his turn to be processed arrived. While waiting in line, he had prepared what voice to use, although with his figure they could already tell he was a girl but that was underneath his cloak. After hearing his voice, would they even want to associate with him?

The voice he chose was that of a 60-year-old lifelong tobacco user which should scare even some kids.

Approaching the person, he was about to ask if he could join the tournament when he was interrupted by the worker "Do you two have any weapons of mass destruction or any intentions to interrupt this event"

"???"

Is this the best the city lord could do on security? The person looked miserable and exhausted. Hearing his question he answered in his new voice "No, me and my partner have no malice intentions"

Subconsciously, the worker widened his eyes and took a step back but quickly regained his composure "Cough... okay you two can enter"

"..."

"Wait... what if you want to enter the tournament?" questioned Jun.

"sigh... If you want to enter the tournament, there are going to be two hallways once you enter, if you want to be a spectator just take the left one, the other one should be the one you want"

"Thank you"

Waving her off, he continued his job. Back with Jun and Yinling "Is that seriously the best they could do on security" asked Jun as he and Yinling walked towards the entrance.

"You have to understand Jun, in this world, any random person could be an old monster in disguise or have a powerful force behind them, they aren't willing to take that risk"

"huh... who would have thought they would use their brains" he mused.

Arriving at the entrance, they saw two hallways that led to different paths, looking at Yinling, he realized he hadn't asked her if she wanted to participate.

Just as he was going to ask, he saw her march strongly towards the right hallway and look back with a smile "Well... what are you waiting for, let's go" Turning around she continued walking with a little sway in her hips.

Seeing the confidence in her, it seemed she was eager to try out her newfound energy control. They had both previously agreed to not use their attributes until they have a solid background to support them so they would have to make use of their leapfrogging abilities.

Smiling, he followed her and they were greeted by a worker who told them to walk down the path.

"Geez talk about self-centered" thought Jun and Yinling as they walked further down the corridor full of pictures of the city lord.

After walking for a few minutes they soon saw light at the end, approaching it, they were shocked to discover an enormous room that spanned endlessly. The ceiling alone looked to have no end.

The room was bustling with people getting on elevators heading underground, some were drinking, others were chatting and some were just asleep.

"Since when does the immortal world have elevators?" Jun wondered silently in awe, observing their primitive operation, with a man manually lowering and raising the cart. "Still, it's quite impressive."

"Maybe I could invent machinery that runs on spiritual energy and monopolize it" mused Jun.

Looking at the crowd, he had no idea there were going to be so many competitors, how long would this tournament last?

Getting in one of the many lines that had elevators going underground, no one seemed to notice two inconspicuous people in cloaks. In fact, It was very common to see people hiding their identities in such events.

While waiting in line, Jun couldn't help but think "Is it a good idea to go underground where they could easily trap you?"

Suddenly, a giant hologram appeared and the room instantly went quiet. Looking at the person in the hologram, he couldn't recognize who It was so he asked Yinling.

"Hey, who is that middle-aged man" whispered Jun.

In a whisper-like angry tone, she responded "Keep your voice down! That's the city lord"

Immediately Jun lowered his head, not daring to attract attention for fear of being blasted into a blood mist.

In a mosquito-like voice, he asked "How powerful is this guy?"

"Last I've heard, he's at the True Core Realm Peak so don't mess around" said Yinling in a serious tone.

Looking back at the hologram-like projection, he seemed to be ready to speak.

In a commanding tone, the city lord announced, "Ladies and Gentlemen, for those unaware, I am the city lord of Skybound Gardens, a city with a history spanning hundreds of thousands of years."

Looking around, no one dared to meet his eyes directly, even Jun since he wasn't stupid enough to provoke such a character at the moment.

"Today marks a grand event in the history of Skybound Gardens, today has been meticulously planned for months and the time has finally arrived"

"In one hour, the rules will be disclosed. Give your utmost effort, for the prizes could alter the trajectory of your lives," he declared, his laughter echoing eerily as he vanished.

Seeing the city lord laugh crazily as he disappeared made Jun worry for his life. Looking at Yinling, he saw her expression normal which should mean this type of behavior is typical.

Just as he was thinking about how he would show off his might, he felt a hand touch his shoulder which made him shudder, instantly putting some distance between them, he saw an average handsome-looking youth with worn-out clothing looking at him.

Seeing him not have any malice he spoke "Dont you know it is impolite to randomly touch a lady"

The youth upon hearing Jun's voice almost lost his composure but quickly responded "Sorry, it's just I kept trying to get your attention but you seemed to not hear me"

Feeling a little relieved he wasn't here to cause trouble, Jun responded "I was just thinking about something, so what did you want to know"

A little embarrassed he continued "Sorry if I scared you, but you wouldn't happen to know how long this tournament is going to last right?"

Shaking his head, Jun admitted, "I'm in the same boat as you buddy, Sorry if you were expecting an answer".

Grateful for the response, the youth introduced himself. "I see... thank you anyways, my name is Li Chen. You wouldn't mind if I stick with you two?"

Hearing him introduce himself, he realized he had forgotten the most important part of his disguise, his name. "W- well nice to meet you Li Chen... I can't exactly disclose my name but you can call me Boss, as for you being with us, you can join us for now".

"Nice to meet you Boss, I hope we get along" Turning around he also greeted Yinliing as well. As for him calling him boss, he just used the word "boss" from the English language which he shouldn't know.

Turning to peek at this guy's status, he realized something...
