49 Chapter 49, Awakening

After the crowd dismissed, Boss Lan stood at the window on the third floor of the Joyous Restaurant rubbing his beard slowly and seemed to be in deep thought. The sun was setting outside, and shadows were creeping across the ground. He sighed heavily before he turned around. "What a beautiful sight to behold. Treasures are sometimes found in the most unexpected places. Even this old restaurant wasn't left out." He spoke as if he was reminiscing about an exciting memory while walking to the other side of the room.

The young assistant looked at his master with a puzzling gaze. It was not his place to speak up and ask questions to his master. But then again, his master always told him he had the most curious mind and could see things others couldn't. So it was only logical that he'd want to know what he saw. "Master, that was Mr. Jain son fighting with others, shouldn't you have stepped in and saved him to leave a good impression on the Spiritual Tavern?" He asked tentatively, but his question was met by silence. When Boss Lan didn't reply immediately he spoke up again, "I'm sorry, Master. Maybe I saw it wrong." With a guilty face the young man looked down at the dusty floor.

Boss Lan shook his head slowly and let out a chuckle while scratching his head. It took several moments before he spoke. "Don't be sorry, young one. You might be right, that was indeed Li Jain's youngest son. But..." His eyes seemed to look through his thoughts and into another memory. "Did you see the technique he used to increase his strength?"

"The Iron fist he yelled out? Wasn't that a talisman?" The young assistant replied confusedly. The technique he used was a special kind of talisman that allowed the user to use their fists to increase their power without using any weapon.Although he couldn't tell how much Li Juanxin strength increased, he was sure of the effect.

"Close, but not quite," Boss Lan said, his eyes still looking far away. "That was an inscription technique. To be more precise, it's symbol inscription which is found in the category of Body Inscription."

"Body Inscription?" The young assistant repeated in confusion and raised both eyebrows. This wasn't something people commonly practiced and studied. Especially since the technique was rare.

"There are four types of inscriptions categories.Object inscriptions, Medicinal inscriptions, Body inscriptions and Soul inscriptions." At that point, Boss Lan explained everything.

Object inscription refers to the practice of inscribing specific symbols or words on objects. These inscriptions are believed to enhance the energy or power of the object, making it more effective in cultivation practices. Medicinal inscriptions, on the other hand, involve inscribing symbols or mantras on medicinal herbs, plants, etc. The inscriptions are believed to impart special healing properties or enhance the medicinal effects of the herbs or medicines.

Body inscriptions involve the practice of inscribing symbols or mantras directly on the body of a cultivator. These inscriptions are believed to strengthen the body, improve durability, or provide protection against external attacks during cultivation. Soul inscriptions are inscriptions done on the soul or spirit of a cultivator. These inscriptions are believed to help in cultivating the soul, refining spiritual energy, or enhancing spiritual abilities.

"I understand.... but master, that kid's inscription technique wasn't engraved on his body like you said it should." The assistant pointed out with a thoughtful expression.

"You're right, I'll need to ask Xiao Jain about it."

....

Li Resident

After Li Juanxin and Liu Xiong came back, Liu Xiong told Li Jain about what happened during the day . Li Jain wasn't mad at Juanxin, he was only worried that he might hurt himself. "You're not hurt, are you?"

"No daddy, I'm fine, don't worry!" Juanxin smiled widely while trying to convince his father that he was unharmed.

"Good to hear." Li Jain took out a qi replenishing pill and sent it to his brothers.

"What's wrong?" Li Jain asked Liu Xiong who seemed like he had something he wanted to talk about.

Liu Xiong was quiet for some time before speaking, "It's about the air in this town."

Li Jain's frown after hearing those words made it evident that the subject was serious. "I noticed it earlier today too, but I thought nothing of it."

"There are monsters lurking around this town. And among them …" Li Jain paused a bit before continuing, "among them are very powerful demons. The thing is, I can't tell their location at the moment. "

"Demons?!" Li Jain was surprised by the information. There weren't many monsters roaming around this part of the town, at least they hadn't encountered any before. If there were demons then that would mean trouble for everyone including themselves.

"Since they're already here, it's just a matter of time before they show up," Li Jain replied solemnly. "No need to track them down. Let's observe the situation for the time being. "

"Yes, Master." Liu Xiong nodded understandingly and walked away.

"Tell Bai Lian to announce that the restaurant will open at 10:00am tomorrow. Also, tell him to write a poster and hang it on the gate in case of inconvenience." Li Jain instructed Liu Xiong after thinking for a moment.

...

It was night time, the streets were empty, and the buildings and shops were closed. Many customers were also gone. After cleaning up, the Li family also got ready to sleep.

"Xiao Xin, are you asleep?" Li Jain lightly whispered towards his son's ear, Li Juanxin open his sleepy and look at his father.

"Go to sleep if you're sleepy." Li Jain sighing softly as he patted his youngest son's head affectionately.

"What's wrong daddy?" Li Juanxin asked while sitting up in bed.

Now that he has woken up, there's no way he'll go back to sleep without understanding the situation. Li Jain knew this so he just got to the point: "Do you think you can go call your two eldest brothers for me?"

"Sure," Li Juanxin smiled brightly as if he was not sleeping a moment ago. He hopped from the bed, and walked towards the door.

Li Jain shook his head helplessly with a smile, he really couldn't understand this child. Li Juanxin was born with a weak constitution unable to handle strenuous activities. Li Jain decided that it'll be best for him to refrain from engaging in strenuous work until he's fully recovered. However, Li Juanxin couldn't help but feel the sense of longing. He yearned to be helpful to his father, to contribute in any way possible. The thought of being left out was just unbearable for him. That's why when Li Jain asked for the smallest favor, Li Juanxin's small face would light up with a radiant smile, and he would eagerly run to fulfill his father's request. Li Jain couldn't comprehend why his seven-year-old son was so eager to be of use to him.

Moments later, Li Juanxin came back with his elder brothers.

"Daddy, here they are." Li Juanxin announced while pointing towards the entrance.

"Good job, Xin." Li Jain rubs his hair and turns to the other boys. "Were you guys asleep?"

"I'm not sure about Han, but I was meditating." Li Yujian answer

"You could have just said we weren't sleeping." Li Yuhan mutter underneath his breath dissatisfied

"What did you say?" Li Yujian pretend to have not heard him and asked

"I wasn't sleeping as well, father." Li Yuhan decided to ignore the jerk Yujian and pay attention to his father.

"Good, stretch out your hand and let me check your pulse." Li Jain requested as he held Li Yujian's wrist gently. After checking his pulse for some seconds, Li Jain nodded, "As expected," Li Yuhan also possessed an unusual bloodline. But the one that surprised Li Jain the most was Li Yujian. It seems as though something was sealed inside of him.

"You boys should go to bed now. Make sure not to eat anything tomorrow morning for the medicine bath."

"Good night, father." The two of them said their goodbye and left.

Although it wasn't shown on their faces their heat was filled with joy. According to them, they awakened their bloodline by bathing in a medicine bath prepared by their father. The two of them secretly rejoiced together at the fact that it was finally happening.
