Chapter 10: Ranking of Students!

Fang Yuan was surprised by the offered amount. He didn't know what made the wood in his hand so special, but since he was the seller, he couldn't ask the boy for it.

"I have thirty kilograms with me," He responded after a lot of conviction. The price offered by the boy was higher than the maximum cost he had expected, so it was very difficult for him not to give up to his greed and break the plan he had made for himself.

The boy noticed the conflict in the seller's eyes, making his eyes light up.

"If you're worried about me becoming greedy for the item, you are mistaken."

"I am Shengong Linfang."

Fang Yuan didn't take the first sentence seriously but when he heard the name of the boy, he couldn't help but look shocked.

Shengong was a rare surname, and the majority of the people with that name belonged to the Shengong family. It was a powerful family on the Qingtian continent with several Golden Core level cultivators and had a direct connection with the Shenhai Sect, one of the seven major sects.

The head of the Shenhai sect had always come from the Shengong family, so it wouldn't be a lie if the Shengong family and the Shenhai sect were considered the same.

Fang Yuan wanted to immediately sell the entire tree at his disposal, but he soon calmed down and thought carefully. The descendant of the Shengong family wouldn't need to come to a backward city like Yellow Peach City and set up a stall to purchase Crimson Wood. They would only need to ask for it, and the top providers of the material across the continent would form a queue.

Shengon Linfang noticed the change of expression in the boy before him and immediately understood what was going through Fang Yuan's mind. He would act in the same way if he were in the latter's shoes.

"I know what you're thinking. I can't tell you why I am doing what I am doing, but to show my sincerity, I will show you something."

Immediately after that, a badge appeared out of nowhere in Shengong Linfang's hands, surprising Fang Yuan. Having a storage treasure reduced some of the doubts in Fang Yuan's heart, and when he saw the badge, he trusted the boy to be telling the truth.

The badge showed the identity of Shengong Linfang as an elite student of the Shenhai Sect. The sects on the Qingtian continent followed a uniform ranking for the disciples.

The first rank was the outer disciples, who needed to fulfill the admission requirement to get admission into any of the sects across the continent; after that were the inner disciples. The outer disciples could be promoted to inner disciples after completing one year of study, and the students who would directly get enrolled into the sects without needing to take the entrance were also considered inner disciples.

The third rank was elite disciples, and for the students to achieve it, they would need to step into the top level of first grade within three years after their admission.

The fourth and highest rank of the student was core disciples, and only the students who had stepped into the Foundation Establishment level could be considered for that title. The Federation of Sects stipulated a ten-year course for every cultivator, and after the ten years, the students would graduate, but those who would have become core students would be allowed to remain in the sect and enjoy the vast resources it controlled.

The knowledge of rankings and differentiation in sects was common knowledge among the people, so Fang Yuan immediately recognized the badge of Shengong Linfang.

When he noticed the elite badge, he immediately turned respectful since Shengong Linfang was at least at the 10th level of Qi refining.

"Senior, I am not lying. I only have thirty kilograms of crimson wood," Fang Yuan respectfully stated.

The cultivation level dictated the relationship between the two parties, so even if Shengong Linfang were to be younger than him, he would have to call him senior.

(A/N: Shengong only looks younger. He is older since only those above 15 can enter sects, and Fang Yuan is only 14.)

"Okay. If you get the same quality of wood in the future, you can sell it to me," Shengong Linfang no longer pestered Fang Yuan. He was sure that Fang Yuan had more Crimson Wood with him.

"Here are your 8,550 spirit coins."

Shengong Linfang threw a small pouch filled to the brim with spirit coins. Fang Yuan immediately caught it, and his breathing turned rapid since he had never seen that much wealth at once.

"Thank you, senior!" Fang Yuan transferred the spirit coins into the bag he used to carry Crimson Wood and returned the pouch.

"You can keep it. It can store ten thousand spirit coins without any issue," Shengong Linfang returned the pouch and stated.

Fang Yuan had noticed there was a hint of space factor in the pouch since it was not adequate in size to carry that many spirit coins, but it did without any trouble.

He didn't dare keep it since the pouch would cost around a few hundred spirit coins, but when he tried to return the pouch, his back turned wet with sweat, and his legs started trembling.

Shengong Linfang was a carefree guy, but when he saw Fang Yuan returning the pouch despite his refusal, his eyes turned cold, and a hint of pressure attacked Fang Yuan.

"Thank you for the gift, senior," Fang Yuan bowed and thanked since he could only keep the pouch after that.

The other party was not only higher in cultivation than him but also extremely wealthy.

Fang Yuan turned around to leave but stopped for a moment when the other party's voice rang in his ears.

"I will come here every Wednesday, so you can come to me if you find more wood."

Fang Yuan turned around and nodded since the other party was senior to him. He then didn't stay there any longer and immediately left.

His destination was the meat store since he wanted to treat his family to a good dinner that night.
