The orphanage problem

Dan's P.O.V.

Near the slums of Entropy was an orphanage. There were some angry sounds coming out of the orphanage, showing that it is still active during the day. Dan approached the desolate looking orphanage, vines and overgrown plants could be seen on the walls of the orphanage, from this Dan inferred that the nobles aren't supporting them. Bad news for them, but good news for me, since nobody's supporting you, I will do so for a price.

[System, what's that statue?]-Dan pointed at the tall and mighty statue in front of the desolate orphanage building. It looked as if it had past its expiry date, with obvious corrosion all over its body one could tell that it was extremely old.

[That is the god of Helm, it is a god who has died before the Dusk demigod came. It was the main religion of this country until he died horribly. He was killed in a battle with an evil god. Killed by the goddess of plague.]-System answered.

[Ah I see I see. So these people still follower their ancestors' teachings and stuff.]- Dan nodded his head.

[That is correct.]-System replied.

Let's go in and take a look.

Meanwhile at the entrance of the orphanage,

"Hurry up and pay the rent, if you can't pay then let us borrow one of your nuns for the night hehe." The bulky and muscular man looked at the young skinny women hiding behind the middle-aged lady in a nun outfit.

"We have already paid this month, haven't we?" The middle-aged lady spoke in a concerned tone. She was worried over the current rents, worried that she would not be able to pay them on time.

"Rents were raised again, our job here is just to collect rents. Come on, if ya can't afford it you can try paying with your body, hehe hehe." The man said again as if he was irritated by a beggar, his eyes stared at the middle-aged nun with lust. The nun shivered slightly from this gaze but no one came to her rescue.

"This is clearly unreasonable!! You told us that the rents were raised last month and won't be raised further again!!" She retorted angrily, her face reddened slightly from her anger.

"Look here beauty, that's what the city lord ordered. I am just here to collect the money. Now then, are you paying or not?" He said with a hint of threat, stepping even closer to her showing off their height difference.

"You... liers this is a holy place for the God of Helm. These children are already starving, if you continue this... we won't be able to support them anymore." Another nun pleaded sincerely to the man.

"What helm god? He's already dead. How many times must I repeat myself? Take out 10 gold coins right now." He laughed at the statue, making a fool out of the dead god.

"You... Stop right no-" Before the nun finished her sentence, a young and skinny boy ran out of the orphanage building and threw a rock at the man who was collecting rent.

A piece of large rock flew towards the head of that man. Without flinching even one bit, the man caught the stone with one hand and crushed it.

"Oi, you really got balls. Don't worry, since I am in a good mood today, I will only break both of your arms." A sinister smile appeared on his face.

"You are all bad guys, the god of Helm will punish you." The little boy screamed and hid behind one of the nuns.

"Hmph!" With a snort the man kicked the statue, causing it to collapse into specks of dust. "Look, I disrespected your god, what are you going to do now?" He laughed at the nuns who were trying desperately their best to keep their calm.

To a man like him, he enjoyed watching others suffer from their inner struggles. Just thinking about forcing them to abandon the children gave him thrills.

The man ran towards the boy and pinned him to the ground.

"Wait, he is just a kid. Please don't do this." The middle-aged nun pleaded.

"Haha, I am a man of my words. You don't have to struggle anymore, those useless arms won't heal quickly." With this, a loud crack sound could be heard followed by a screaming and crying voice of the boy.

"Look I broke his arms what can you do to me? I will be back with my friends later on to collect the debt." The man said joyfully savouring the expressions of the nuns while he walked out of the orphanage. He had colluded together with Count Barry to capture those girls. First, they would force the nuns to abandon the orphanage, then they would capture and 'play' with them. After this, without the nuns' protection, they would capture the children and sell them as slaves.

In exchange for doing this, he was promised with a huge sum of money as well as the choice of taking any nun he liked. Count Barry was a 25-year-old man, he had a clean record, but actually, he enjoys little children especially those who have tiny bodies. He loves them, often raping one each day. The orphanage was the perfect place to vent his desires without getting caught.

After the man left, the middle-aged nun ran towards the little boy while shouting his name, " Sam! Why did you come out of hiding? Do you think just because we are stronger, we can resist him? If he notified the city lord where would you and the other children go?" She was extremely worried about Sam's reckless actions, immediately casting a healing spell on both of his arms after the rent collecter left.

"Sister Emma, I am alright... why must we let them do as they please? They insulted what we believed in and they extort money from the poor. So why must we tolerate this?" Sam pretended that he was alright however, his expressions say otherwise. The other children nodded their head in agreement with Sam's view.

Hearing this, Emma sigh and answered his question in a solemn tone, "We wouldn't be in this spot if there were other religions influencing this region of the humans' territory. But over here, there are no religions in this kingdom that would support us. The temple of Dusk only accepts blood offering which we cannot afford."

"If I leave now, who will support you all? Even the residents of the slum are starting to aim for the little supplies in this orphanage." Emma was extremely lost on what she should do to continue running the orphanage as well as protecting the children who live here.

"The descendants who believe in the Helm god lessens every generation, leaving me the only one left. All that is left is the anti-demon formation built at the core of this orphanage... But having this formation won't help us. What we need are food and money... I am sorry please leave me alone for now. I need time to prepare." Emma looked towards the sky while smiling wryly.

Listening to sister Emma's explanation, even the 3 other nuns felt hopeless about their current situation. The children left without comforting them as even they themselves felt the severity of this problem. The 4 nuns left in the room started discussing on their next action.

"So, anyone has any idea on how we should pay the rent?" Emma asked

"Impossible, we are only left with 50 copper coins this month... even if we sold ourselves it is impossible to earn 10 gold coins in such a short period of time. They are really too much this time, they only asked for 1 gold coins earlier this month. And now they want 10 gold coins? We can only drag ourselves to barely scrapped up for a single gold coin." One nun replied.

Another nun added on, "This must be done on purpose. Obviously, one of the nobles was attracted by a few of us working in the orphanage as well as some young children... He probably wanted to righteously take their purity without being blamed by the public or breaking the law... Collecting us as a form of payment. Even the law doesn't stop them from doing so..."

The last nun had already given up hope, "How about we sell those children as a s*x slave for those nobles with 'special' tastes? They would probably fetch a high price, then we could live in peace without caring for all the other children."

The other 2 nuns were considering this except for Emma.

Our Mc probably loves to watch real-life drama...
