1 Chapter 1 - Cube

The dark expanse of space flowed across the room. Stars sparkled and flickered, the entire room replaced with the vastness of space. The only thing that made it clear that it was a room were faintly shimmering blue lights outlining the room and objects inside.

A mystical looking bookshelf with five shelves, half filled. Each shelf had a few books falling on its side, and a small collection of board games were stacked up among the bottom shelf, with a small pile messily spilling onto the floor. A bed was clearly outlined in the corner of the room, the blanket piled up onto it. At the center of the room were four people, each turned into a dark silhouette outlined in the same magical blue.

All four of them sat in the center of the room, with a cube in the center. Each side was covered with archaic looking runes, as it spun slowly hovering in the air. To the side a small wooden box was discarded, its inside pulsing with an equally magical red.

After what could've been aeons, but also only a few seconds, the room stopped flashing blue, reverting the room to what it was before. Color returned to the room, from a mystical blue to a saturated yellow. Perhaps the only remnant of what had happened was the small window in the room being completely blacked out.

Each person was clearly visible, yet floating above them rather conspicuously was their name, as well as an interesting addition.

Katie, the determined, is a tall mature girl with long well-kept brown hair. She's half-Asian and her skin is fairly smooth. Her eyes were piercingly brown, almost sparkling hazel from time to time. Faint eyeliner let her eyes stand out more, with some soft pink lipstick causing her lips to almost feel alluring. She wore a rather cute fur-jacket, covering a black t-shirt. A long skirt went down to her knees. She was staring at the cube, but also seemed to be looking far beyond it, with a strange smile on her face.

Jess, the undecided, is Katie's twin, just as tall as Katie. They came out as gender-fluid a few years ago. Wearing a beanie over their head, with black hair going down to their shoulders. Winged eyeliner made their red eyes stand out. They wore colored contacts as much as they could, Their face was heavily made up to hide their natural blush. A bright red lipstick made them look extremely alluring. Drawing attention away from a choker around their neck that hid their Adam's apple. Wearing a small black crop top that showed just enough skin to feel decent. They were also wearing a skirt, but a mini-skirt that was just long enough to cover them up. Black stockings covered their legs up to their knees, with skin that only had a few noticeable blemishes. They gave a small glance to Katie, before giving a piercing gaze to the cube, the blue light contrasting to their red contacts.

Roy, the devoted, was the shortest in the room, but only by an inch. He has a messy brown hairstyle that goes down to his neck, while his hair is layered above his eyes, somehow, his hair is always messy in the exact same way. He has strong brown eyes that sometimes shifts to green under the light. He's white but his skin is a nice tan-color, it's layered evenly over his entire body, no tan-lines in sight. A slightly-too strong deodorant smell comes from him, but the smell is reminiscent of green apple candy. He wears a white t-shirt that was just tight enough to show off a well-sculpted body. He's also wearing long jeans that while ripped in both knees, look brand-new. He gazed across the cube at Katie, with a slightly misty look in his eyes.

Xun, the unmotivated, is a tall Asian boy, slightly taller than both Katie and Jess. His long black hair tied up into a messy ponytail, and his glasses haphazardly worn. His black eyes slightly misty, his face in a near scowl. His expression was dull but his eyes flashed with a strong gleam of intelligence and mischief. He wore a green long-sleeved shirt, with pajama pants, covered with tiny gen-1 Pokemon. He sat cross-legged on the ground, staring almost wistfully at the blanket behind him. He seemed nearly unaffected by the cube, but his eyes were quickly clearing up.

The four of them had been friends for years, and were having a meet-up before they split up for college. They met-up in Xun's room, the living room of his house having been covered with moving boxes.

Yet, whoever they were and whatever reasons they had to be there. Nothing would change the fact that they were going to play Cube, and that nothing would ever be the same.
