Chapter 15: Perilous Pursuit

Light looked at Chris and grinned, then turned to Elina. "Elina, take the wheel."

"What?" Elina's voice was filled with surprise and anxiety.

"Do as I say," Light insisted.

"Okay, okay," Elina responded, scrambling over to the driver's seat as Light moved to the back with Chris. His eyes gleamed with excitement, while Chris struggled to grasp the situation.

"Chris, we're going to use our Crystals to stop them."

Chris's voice wavered. "But how? I don't even know how to use mine properly."

"Diamonds are built under pressure," Light said with a grin.

They flung the backdoor open to prepare their attack, but the enemy car continued to ram into them. Suddenly, two masked men appeared, guns drawn, and began shooting. Out of desperation, Chris raised his arm, and a black wall materialized, blocking the bullets. Both Light and Chris stared in amazement.

"Nice one, Chris!" Light said, impressed. Then he focused and invoked a new power, "Nightmare Circus." Darkness enveloped the enemy car, creating an illusion of a circus tent. Horrified screams filled the air as the men inside experienced terrifying hallucinations.

"Light, what did you do?" Chris asked, bewildered.

"They're experiencing hallucinations right now. They won't be able to drive for much longer."

"Wow, that's amazing."

Light laughed. "Look who's talking. Your power saved us in the first place."

At the front, Elina was trembling as she focused on driving. "Guys, did we lose them?"

"Not yet, but soon. Don't worry," Light reassured her.

They watched as the darkness around the enemy car began to fade. When it cleared, a man emerged through the sunroof. Light's face fell. "Silas," he whispered, paralyzed with shock.

Chris noticed the change in Light's demeanor. "Hey, what's wrong?"

"That guy... he killed my friend. He's Silas."

Both Elina and Chris were speechless. Light couldn't move, haunted by memories of Fin. Chris turned back to the enemy car, anger flaring in his eyes. "What do you want from us?" he shouted.

Silas laughed coldly. "I want all of your Crystals... and your dead bodies too."

"Then try and get them," Chris retorted, summoning a massive black fireball and hurling it at the enemy car. The driver failed to react in time, and the explosion engulfed the vehicle. Silas leapt out just in time, watching them escape.

Elina drove on, still in shock, while Chris tried to snap Light out of his stupor. "Come on, partner. We escaped."

Light's eyes focused. "Silas... he won't stop coming after us."

Light took a deep breath, regaining his resolve. "I swore to take revenge for Fin. I'll make sure he pays for what he did."

"We'll do it together,Partner." Chris said firmly.

Chris took over the wheel as Elina remained shaken. They had about an hour left to reach Alexandria. Despite the tense situation, their bond grew stronger, forged in the crucible of their shared peril and determination.
