3 Chapter 3.

( Change back to MC's POV)

The signal has been fired to the sky, which lights up the whole region and I hear cannons firing. 50 Winged Hussars, 150 Hussars, and 200 Polish Swordsmen behind me ready their weapons, 5 swordsmen sneak toward the gate of the Fortress with several bags of explosives on their backs. After spotting the Fortress in the morning, I've hidden my troops to the north while taking these men to go round to the south and will perform a sneak attack from behind. My Marshal Kawasaki is commanding the troops I left to distract the enemy.

Going to the back of the enemy is hard, I have to find my way through jungles, bushes, and rocks. But luckily tonight the moon is bright so I could navigate the direction and lead my troops safely to where I wanted. The rain has stopped, horses and men are tired from the forced march but I do not have time to spare, I have to take Olumia before the Holy Order is defeated by the Vassal States Coalition. I bring the elites of my army here so I hope with some inspiration they will be the fine soldiers they always are.

A loud sound can be heard and the South Gate is blown up, revealing a huge hole ripe for me and my men to charge. I mount my horse, put on my helmet, and then turn back to my men:

- MY WARRIORS, THOSE STAYING THERE IN THAT FORTRESS ARE THOSE WHO HUMILIATE POLAND, YOUR MOTHERLAND. WILL WE LET THIS HUMILIATION PASS UNANSWERED?

- NO!

- SO COME WITH ME AND BRING GLORY TO POLAND! CHARGE!

I advance my horse, point my lance toward the front and charge with full speed to the fortress. I hear

the rustling of wings from my Winged Hussars ringing behind my back, which gives me the confidence to go forward to crush anyone who gets in my ways. I can see the streets of the fortress insight and dozens of men are forming formations pointing their muskets at us. I shout:

- HUSSARS! FIRE!

The Hussars fire their pistols, the smell of gunpowder spreads all over the place. More than 10 of the Olumians fall to the ground but they fire back, kill some of my soldiers. I notice there are still about 20 musketeers on the wall, it'll be hard to kill them with guns. Never mind, the swordsmen will be enough to punish them later on. Leading the charge, my lance pierce a soldier's chest and kill him immediately. Unluckily, the pointy end of my lance break makes it useless. I throw it toward an Olumian who is about to fire. Although it doesn't kill the man it is enough to stop him from firing, creating a chance for a Hussar to cut his head with a sabre.

I take down my sabre and swing it crazily, intending to kill anyone that gets in my way. The defense line of the Olumian break, the musketeers from the walls continue to fire down on us but 200 swordsmen have got in the city, they climb to the walls and chop the musketeers to slices of meat. Not stopping the charge, I and my riders continue to push forward the north gate. On the way, there are still several resistances but they can't stop the advance of 200 lances and sabres.

The north gate appears with about 300 of soldiers defending the choke points. There are more than I expected, the gate has been broken by cannonballs but as I can see, my infantry is still far away. But I will not stop the charge, success or not, I will only move forward. Suddenly, I see a man wearing distinguished clothes on the walls, staring at me. I take out my pistol, aim, and fire. I've been training with every type of weapon I can find since I was 6, especially guns and swords. The distance is only around 50 meters, no way I can miss it. As I predicted, the bullet pierces his head, sending his body collapsing to the ground.

Seeing their general has fallen, the Olumians' morale starts to be shaken. My horse crushes the body of a spearman trying to intervene in my charge, my sabre swiftly cuts another one's head. I dismount my horse and climb the stairs to the walls. Some musketeers aim at me and fire but they all miss. A bullet hit my breastplates but unlike the modern age bullet, it can not pierce through my master-crafted exquisite armor. My chest hurts a little but I do not feel it is a big problem. With some Winged Hussars who have followed me to dismount, we make corpses out of Olumians on the walls. I hear the war cries of my infantrymen downstairs which means my main army has entered the fortress. Now there is nothing that can save the Olumians.

( Two hours later)

I have taken off my armor and sat on a wooden box in the middle of the battlefield. The battle has been over with the victory belonging to Poland. 67 Polish has fallen but as my captains speak, nearly 400 Olumians are killed by my men and the rest is kneeling near the head office of the fortress. Aside from the soldiers, about 70 civilians are captured, it seems like their purpose of being here is working as camp followers for the Olumian army. That makes sense since an army needs many things aside from the soldiers to keep them refreshed in fighting. My army has nearly 500 camp followers to take care of soldiers' daily needs.

A nurse is taking care of the wound on my chest. Although I didn't feel very much pain, it may be adrenaline's works. The nurse says if she does not cure this early enough, I can suffer from severe infection. I look at her, she seems to be around 16 and a student of the medical academy in Warsaw. With long blonde hair, purple eyes, and a charming body, she makes me feel excited. I had some bad lucks with women in my past life but now I'm a lord and from constant training, my body is well made and I can see the nurse blushing while treating me. I ask her:

- What is your name?

She lowers her head and speaks:

- It's Abigail, my Lord.

- I'll get straight to the point, have you had a boyfriend?

She blushes and tries to hide her face:

- No, my lord.

I put my hand on her waist and whisper to her ears:

- Then come to my tent tonight, I'll be there after meeting Marshal Kawasaki.

- Yes, my lord.

She picks up her stuff after curing and leaves. It's a pity that I've to discuss with Kawasaki how to deal with the prisoners before spending time with her. But that'll be alright, waiting will make the fruit more delicious upon taking. I stand up and try to find Kawasaki among the crowd, I intend to kill all the prisoners but surely he will not agree. He's been helping me consolidate my power from the day my father dies, I respect him much so at least I will listen to him. I need to move fast to attack the city of Rhanes, prisoners will just slow me down.

...

After discussing, we decide to release the camp followers while sending the Olumian soldiers with 50 of my men as escorts to work as serfs in mines. After the war, I'll decide their fates which depend on the obedience of the Olumiansl

I walk toward my tent, which is guarded by several soldiers looking at me with weird eyes. Don't be like that, dudes, I'm your lord so at least I've some privileges and as a wise man once said ": There is nothing better than a woman after a fight."
