CHAPTER 2

The double doors in front of them opened. Leah took a deep breath for one last time and then she started walking down the aisle with her father. All the guests that were seated turned their heads to see the woman who was getting married to this heartless man. Nobody thought that a day would come where they would witness his wedding because he chased away every single girl that tried to get close to him, it's almost as if he was immune to them.

Some guests whispered to each other about how unlucky Leah was, she was only twenty one years old and yet she was getting married to a beast. Some asked themselves what kind of a father Ludwig was, they said that no parent in their right mind would let their own child get married to a man like him. They made sure to not talk out loud because if they were heard then their lives would probably end right there.

After what felt like a century Leah finally stopped at the altar. She claimed the two stairs and she was now standing in front of her soon to be husband. She raised her head to see him. As soon as her eyes landed on his face she was hypnotised by his looks. He had porcelain caramel skin and freckles on his face. His hair was long, silky and black. It's like he took care of it every single day.

His hazel eyes shone under the bright light of the chandeliers, he just looked perfect. He had a serious look on his face, his eyes showed no happiness or excitement. Just darkness and anger, which was understandable because he was forced to marry a girl he didn't even know. He never wanted to get married in his life. He hated women for a certain reason.

Leah smiled at him, hoping that she would get some kind of reaction from him but she got nothing so she decided to look down at her feet. She thought that maybe he was just nervous like she was, but why would a man like him be nervous? She didn't know either. Maybe he did not want people to see what he was feeling. She thought of all kinds of reasons but none of the ones that she had in her head made any sense.

"We have come together in the presence of God to witness the joining together…"The pastor continued talking. "And now, by the authority invested in me as a minister of the Gospel, and in accordance with the laws of the State of Carlibe, I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride."The pastor concluded.

Alexander, Leah's new husband lifted the Vail off Leah's face slowly, and he then rested his hand on her cheek, he leaned closer to her face until their lips touched, he then kissed her slowly and gently. The feeling of his lips on hers made Leah's body shake. This was her first kiss and it felt like magic to her. She wanted this moment to last forever, as she was enjoying the kiss Alexander stopped kissing her, he then gave her a wicked smile. She didn't know what she had gotten herself into by marrying this man.

—-------------------

Before she knew it the wedding was over and she was now sitting in the car with her new husband. He did not dare to look at her even once, he only looked outside of the window as the driver drove them to his mansion. Leah was not enjoying the silence,to her it was just uncomfortable and awkward. She wanted to start a conversation with him but she did not know how she was going to do it. She wanted to break the silence but she couldn't, it felt like the words were stuck in her throat.

"So Alexander-"She said but Alexander cut her off.

"I prefer silence so don't bother talking."He said still not looking at her.

"Okay… but how am I supposed to pass time?"She asked, looking at him.

"That is none of my concern. Now be quiet."He said in a harsh tone.

"It is, don't tell me that you expect me to just sit here and do nothing."She said but this time she didn't get any answer from him. So he did not really want to talk to her. 'Asshole.' She thought to herself. She just hoped that he was not going to be like this everyday because she was not going to be able to put up with him.

—------------------

After an hour they finally arrived at Alexander's mansion. They both got out of the car, Leah just stood there looking at the huge mansion that was in front of her. It was at least two times bigger than her father's mansion, it looked like a palace. She didn't understand why he would live in a house like this one when he only lives alone. The mansion was too big for one person, maybe if it was his family's mansion she would understand but maybe he had use of all the rooms of the mansion.

"Do you want me to tell you to get in?"She was brought back to reality by Alexander's voice. She followed him.into the mansion. The interior of the mansion was much bigger than the outside. It was just very spacious. "Drew escort her to the room, I have something that I need to attend to."Alexander said and he walked off to who knows where.

"Come with me madame."Drew said. Drew was Alexander's butler and he always made sure that everything was done according to Alexander's orders.

Leah followed Drew up the stairs and he led her to Alexander's room. He opened the door for her and she entered. "Your clothes are already in the closet."Drew said and Ember nodded her head in response and then he left. The room was really big. She had expected the room to be decorated for her wedding night but it wasn't. She sighed and then she went into the bathroom which was the size of her bedroom. She decided that it was best that she took a shower because she was sweating. The wedding had drained her, there was a lot of dancing and crying. Her body was sticky from all the sweating.

After taking a shower she put on one of the robes that were in the bathroom. She went out of the bathroom and she sat down on the bed waiting for Alexander to return. While she was seated she saw a small album that was on the nightstand, she took it and then she opened it. The first picture that she saw was a picture of Alexander wearing a military outfit, he was holding a gun in his hands and just like all of his pictures he was not smiling. He never smiled in any of the pictures.

Maybe he didn't even know how to smile at all. This man was just so mysterious, he kept his life private. Nobody knew what he did behind closed doors, they only knew the information that he himself wanted them to know. Maybe he was a lonely man who was stuck in the dark and needed someone to bring him to the light and experience what it is like in the light, but nobody has been able to do that so far, not even his own family.

She paged through the album and she came across a picture that caught her attention, it was a picture of Alexander when he was ten years old and he was smiling, this was probably the only picture of him smiling. She took the picture out of the album to take a closer look at it. His smile was bright and beautiful in this picture, his eyes were full of happiness, which was something that was not there in all the other pictures. Maybe something had happened that made him like this.

A few minutes later the door opened and Alexander walked in. "Who told you to touch my things?"He asked as soon as he saw the picture on Leah's hand.

"Uhm I just wanted to take a closer look at it, that's all."She said, It sounded as if she was afraid of him for some reason. He walked closer to her and he took the picture and the album from her hands.

"Don't touch my things with your filthy hands, got it?"He said. Leah was shocked, she was not expecting this from him. People labelled him as a heartless man, but she did not know that he would be like this with her too.

"But I am your wife-"She was cut off before she could finish her sentence.

"You are my wife. Of course you are my wife, but only in name. You and I are nothing but strangers, so if you thought that marrying me was the best thing then you were wrong, marrying me is the worst thing that could ever happen to you."He said and then he went into the bathroom slamming the door behind him. Leah just sat there, thus was not what she had expected, was marrying him really the worst decision that she had made? Maybe things were going to change for the better, or maybe not.
