Chapter 5

I stood no chance against Tristan. Despite the fact I was faster and could be stronger with proper training, Tristan was a raised warrior. I didn't waste time. I flipped around and bolted back in the direction I came. I would have to run for hours in order to get back to my new pack. Mason. He wouldn't have realized I had left. I couldn't remember how long before the heat had stopped and even if he had stopped hours before who was to say he realized I was gone.

Tristan was slower. I knew for a fact I could out run him but I kept stumbling. My wounds hadnt completely healed and I had too much on my mind. The more I tried to push away the thoughts and pain the worse they got.

Me feet stumbled again and this time I could feel Tristan behind me. I felt as his breath brushed up against my neck. He was trying to grab me by my neck and pin me. I jumped to the side and slid into a tree. Pushing off it for a head start I began running again.

A growl ripped through the air. I thought it was Tristan until a familiar black wolf came running up to me. Misa. I stopped short and looked back at Tristan who stopped short and went as still as death. I stepped backwards and immediately felt something behind me. I flipped around to see Mason glaring ahead at Tristan. Misa appeared next to me and held out an outfit. I shifted and quickly slipped it on while backing further back and up against Mason. He tensed up but didn't take his eyes off Tristan who was on the verge of running.

"You just dont know when to quit do you Tristan? I let you keep your mate and your pack and you treat my mate with disrespect?"

Tristan growled and back up some more. Mason just took a few steps forward, making sure I walked with him.

"Don't make me regret sparring you Tristan."

Tristan immediately shifted back and balled his fists.

"You didn't spare my father. He killed father, Amora. He killed him. He's a murderer and a monster. He's weak and a pathetic excuse of an alpha. He's the reason the pack is falling apart and everyone is leaving."

His words rang in my head. 'pathetic excuse of an alpha', I had been called that to many times to count. my stomach twisted and rage ran through me.

"Father deserved what he got and the pack falling apart is because of your bad leadership. Had you ever treated the females with respect or actually trained and cared for the wolves here instead of pushing that job onto me you wouldn't have this issue. Don't blame Alpha Mason for your failure."

"You can't even call him your mate Amora. You need to come home. We could forgive you if you returned and did your job."

"I can do what I want and make decisions for myself now Tristan."

I pulled off the bracelet that had our pack signal on it off my arm and tossed it at him. He caught it with ease and dropped it. I backed up into Mason again and felt his heat against my cold body.

"Good bye Tristan." Mason said as he turned around with me.

I tensed up as we walked two steps forward. Misa was already ahead of us. I knew something was wrong. I flipped around away from Mason just as Tristan came flying as us while shifted. I shifted quicker than he could move and jumped into the air. Mason turned around just as I threw my brother into a tree. Shock temporarily showed on his face.

I growled more viciously than I ever had, feeling a sudden protectiveness to Mason and Misa. Tristan fell the the floor and looked between me and Mason over and over again.

Masons hand brushed up against my back as he walked along my side and up towards my head. My tail began moving and wagging on its own. thank the goddess Mason was ahead of me and didn't see.

"I'll see you soon Tristan. Your disrespect will not go unpunished." and with that we finally began walking away.

I shifted back once we were out of sight. I shivered against the cold wind.

"Sorry Amora, you shifted in the only outfit I brought for you." Misa said.

"It's fine really."

"No it's not." Mason piped in, "Wear this."

I watched as he slipped off his shirt and handed it to me without looking at me.

I slipped it on and joined them again. I was still cold though so Mason pulled me close to him. The warmth of his body was nothing like the heat from earlier. It was pure and simple. So comfortable.

"You just don't know how to stay out of trouble do you?" Mason laughed.

I huffed and crossed my arms.

"You brought all this trouble to me."

"You're the one who refuses to stay with me to stay away from all of this mess. I get that you don't want to be Luna but it's dangerous-"

"I wasn't leaving."

"What?"

"I was just going for a run, I needed air and I lost track of time because I was lost in thought and I guess I just navigated here on accident. I wasn't leaving. I planned to come back."

His face darkened.

"is this about Ophelia? I know you don't want to be mates but I get that you might be uncomfortable with the feeling of me sleeping with other people. I could stop if you wanted."

He seemed to strain the words out and my face grew hot and I oddly liked that he wasnt going to sleep with Ophelia anymore.

"It's not about the feeling or anything," I paused, he paused with me and looked down as I lifted the shirt up just enough to not see my chest, revealing the bruises, making sure to cover my lower parts. "Ophelia is from my pack and is the one who caused these bruises on my stomach. I guess I just feel like she's using you to get to me."

I dropped the shirt and began walking again. Mason didnt move for a second until I looked back at him. He quickly joined my side again and we began walking into a clearing. In the middle stood the car and Misa who was sitting on it.

"For someone who is the fastest wolf I've seen you sure don't walk fast in human form." She sighed.

She jumped off the car and made her way to the front seat.

"Don't you even think about it Misa. You're not crashing another one of my cars."

"Hush brother. I've improved I swear. Trust me and relax."

She jumped into the car quickly before he could stop her and started the car. He sighed and laughed. It was such a real and kind expression, I couldn't help but smile.
