Save Yourself

He frowned as his cold eyes stared deep into those emerald eyes. How could he (Olivia) be so brazen!

But before he could shout, his mouth coughed blood again.

Looking at the amount of blood he had shed, Olivia's eyes cracked. The man had a strong will to survive or else he would have died by now.

There were three arrows that had pierced his chest. Yet the way his proud eyes were looking at him!

He did not relent. Even if he could not tell his real identity, he should have told a fake name to survive but the thought did not cross the mind of the man who was rather glaring at her than requesting again.

Somehow it reminded her of her father who was an upright man, the man who could die but never bow!

She stared at the expensive cloth of the man and his eyes narrowed. Could he be a countryside noble or a rich man who was here to hunt?

If she could save him she could ask for a reward at least. Though she had a few silver coins, it was not much for their long time survival.

With that thought her eyes twinkled and she crouched in front of the man who had closed his eyes to control his breathing.

"Hey, you! Are you alive or already dead?" she knocked his forehead as if it was a door making the eyes of the man open instantly as he glared at her.

Not only had this fool refused to help him, now he (Olivia) was also making fun of him!

Without giving a second thought, he forwarded his hand with the speed of a lightning to strangle her neck. Since he (Olivia) was not going to save her, why should he  keep her alive?

"Hey, let go!" shouted Olivia as she felt the pressure of his tight grip.

Her reflex had always been sharp and she was able to defeat more than half of his knights. Then how could he get a hold of her even when he was injured?

She concluded that he was not an ordinary man and she should stay away from someone like him.

"Let go or I will kick your chest. Cough cough! Right where you have been injured!" she threatened as her legs were just a few inches away from his when his eyes narrowed on his (olivia) face.

As if wanted to deduce if he (olivia) serious yet the pressure did not lessen!

"You scoundrel? Do we treat our benefactors like that?" she shouted in between her coughs as she used all her force and energy in getting rid of his hands and finally she succeeded but a part of her knew that he had let go of her.

"Benefactor? Ha! Didnt you refuse to help me?" This time his voice was faltering and she knew that he would not survive for long.

"Will I change my decision if you offer me a good reward?" his blurry eyes were not able to focus anymore and even if he wanted, he could not get hold of his (olivia) neck again.

But reward! He could do that. He was sure his clothes had enough gems to give him if he was saved.

He nodded his head slightly as he did not have much strength left. But that was all she needed.

She had already calculated. The man had 5000 gold coins ruby in his broch and 3000 worth gold coins ring.

If she would be able to extort all his jewels, she would be able to survive for a year. Or maybe she could spend all the money on buying a small house and furnishing it.

Her mind had already started calculating various expenses she needed to pay when she would reach the town.

"Hey, save me first!" she felt him tugging his shirt only then did she remember that she needed to save him first to get all the jewels from him.

How foolish she was! She shook her head and then nodded as she moved closer.

"This would hurt a lot. So, bear with it!" without waiting for his reply and giving him further warning, she pulled out all three arrows at once.

The man closed his eyes and winced. No matter how strong he was! That hurt like hell! She felt a lot of blood start to pour out again and he felt like dying.

Was he (Olivia) trying to save him or kill him at once. If only he would have strength, he would have taught him (Olivia) a good lesson.

He was about to open and complaining to him (Olivia) when he felt his warm hands covering the wound as if she was trying to stop the blood flow.

"Don't just sit like a dead body. Cover your wound with your hands until I find something to cover your wound!" she chided him in a cold voice when she noticed that apart from wincing he was not doing anything.

As if saving him was only her duty. Typical noble being who thinks everyone should be on his beck and call.

She looked at him with disdain as she looked around to find something useful.

Olivia did not know much about the medicine, but she had injured herself a lot while running in the wilderness and exploring it and she had to treat her wounds by herself every time. As she did not want others to know about her secret visit, she always treated herself out in the wild.

So, she had a good experience in bandaging the wounds and finding herbs for treatment.

"What is that? What if it was poisonous?"

"If you are this much scared, why don't you go and find herbs for yourself and save your life?"
