Crown Of Frosted Glass

“And I’ve just got the green light everyone!” Barbara announced. The crowd silenced, and the competitors looked at her. She sighed. “There…….there were a few hilichurls, but they were taken care of by the Knights before they could cause major trouble. Remember, use your Visions only when necessary. I would’ve confiscated them before the entire thing started if I didn’t know the pain it would cause. Plus, with the hilichurl incident…. “But anyways, it’s been taken care of. Looks like the competitors are ready to get going. All of you will find your first clue in those chests over there,” she said, pointing at 5 wooden chests lined up together in a perfect circle. “Remember, only open the chest that bears your team symbol. And now, for the grand count down! Five- “ "Four" "Three." "Two." "One." "And...." Or, a fic where the Abyss Order plots yet another devastating plan and almost succeeds, trapping everyone in one hole with no way out... DISCLAMIER: All the chapters were prewritten prior to Sumeru's release (especially 3.5) so yeah it's gonna divert a little from canon

Interlude I- A Twist Of Events

The blonde looked outside from the cave, her face stern. She knows they would arrive. They might take a while, but they would come.

The others however…

"My liege, you said they would have to arrive here, but I don't see any signs of them arriving," said a Cryo Abyss Mage, leaning against her staff for support. The girl turned around to face it and adjusted her scarf.

"They will come, in due time. We have to be patient. The plan is set, and they will fall for it."

"But- "

"That's enough!" she said, clutching her fists. "Remember who you're talking to, Mage."

The Mage cowered back, mumbling incoherently before saying, "I'm sorry, my Princess."

The girl nodded sharply and turned to look at the snowy view once more. The plan had to work this. It must! They failed already with the whole Storm Terror incident, they couldn't afford to lose again.

"Oh, Aether," she whispered softly-her heart ached to see her twin again, but she reluctantly and willingly pushed the feeling aside. She couldn't think about him now, as much as she wanted to. Not until her brush with destiny comes to its end. Until his journey is over. She also can't think about their unexpected meetup a few weeks ago. There was work that had to be done. The Abyss Order was growing stronger with each passing day, and once Khaenri'ah was avenged, she could finally reunite with her brother. Finally.

The time for retribution had come.

"For Khaenri'ah," she whispered again, and turned around and walked into the cave to meet her soldiers.
