1 Desperate

In this life filled with questions, a person asked herself in disbelief, "Why?" Yet she was unable to answer her question.

She looked away and admired the waves of the raging ocean as she asked once more, "Why are you doing this?" Before her, is a man—her CEO kneeling on one knee, offering an expensive ring to marry him.

Normally, everyone would be delighted to have the richest man in the world propose to them.

However, the woman is in shock, not only because of the sudden proposal, but also because the man before her thinks that she's a man!

Her name is Jang Seo ya, a female in her early 20s, one of the most successful business women in the world. Due to some reasons, she had to pretend to be her twin brother for some time and work under his homophobic CEO.

Seo ya hated those kinds of people the most. She has always respected the LGBTQ community all throughout her life, and she has always been someone to work under, not somebody to work under someone.

Yet, what would happen if Seo ya, who lived her life like a queen, suddenly becomes a secretary—what's more, a man overnight?

'This is a problem,' Seo ya thought. What made the icy and homophobic CEO fell in love with someone in disguise of a man? Is this a new start of a love story? Or something new?

Seo ya grinned at the CEO before her and raised her chin. "I don't want to," she replied, making the CEO dumbfounded. "Why?" The CEO asked with a long face.

"Because I'm too good to be yours, or anyone else's," she said with a smile. A sudden downpour filled the entire land, causing Seo ya to look up and feel the sensation of the light drops of rain against her garments.

She smiled amidst the downpour and the image of her smiling was stuck in the CEO's head who's gazing at her, with butterflies filled in his stomach despite getting rejected. Perhaps her smile is his happiness that makes him feel at ease.

'Your smile is too perfect,' the CEO thought with a smile. Seo ya looks at him with a confused reaction as to why he's smiling and once again asked, "Why? Why are you In love with someone like me?"

In this life filled with questions, that question was the only question that Seo ya couldn't answer. Hence, she lives her life, pretending to be her twin brother, and at the same time, she tries to find out the answer to the question.

So, where did this romantic tale started? It all started during March 11, 2021. On one of the biggest building there is in South Korea—Seo corporation. A lady In her 20s, Jang Seo ya, lies on her swivel chair as she whines, "There are too many workloads! Am I a machine or what?"

"Miss Jang, your trip to Sydney has effectively been arranged. Do you want to go to the airline now?" Her secretary, Ahn Min Hyuk, inquired. Seo ya whined to communicate dissatisfaction, "Ugh, imagine that I'll be going on an outing to Sydney just to sign a few pointless papers." She brushed her hair.

"It's not simply marking a few futile papers, miss Jang. You're going to meet Miss Cindy Venicee and sign a few papers that will ensure our undertaking to be effective," he said, arguing with her. "Tsk, whatever. I'm tired of everything! My regular daily existence is all work and that's it!"

Her secretary—Ahn Min Hyuk chuckled at her remarks and said, "Aren't you used to it already, miss? Of course your regular daily existence will be all work. You are one of the successful young ladies who made multiple businesses with high benefits, Jang Seo ya, a 23 year old person, CEO of 15 organizations, and destined to be the inheritor of the Jang Company, the greatest organization there is." Mr. Ahn gave her an espresso.

"Jang Company—my parent's business. I can barely handle it. Regardless of whether I have 15 organizations, I cannot beat Jang company regardless of how hard I work," she whimpered, stroking her hair in agony.

"You don't need to stress about beating your parent's organization since you'll be inheriting it at any rate. Worry about the present, miss Jang. You need to go to Sydney now," Secretary Ahn said.

She feigned exacerbation and said, "Fine, I'll go."

Seo ya stood up from her seat. Her phone abruptly rang, showing that somebody was calling her. As she saw the name of the individual calling her, she was shocked and quickly acknowledged it since it was a call from her twin sibling who had ventured out from home, Jang Seo hyun.

"Greetings, sister," her twin brother said with a chuckle. "After a few years of not having communications, what made you call me? Do you need money or what?" Seo ya asked, irritated by the fact that he only called her once in a while.

"Oh please, haha. I'm not in need of money, sister. Rather, I called you to ask for permission," he said, making Seo ya confused since all their life, Seo Hyun always did what he wanted without even asking for his sister's consent. So what made him ask all of them abruptly?

"How weird. What is it this time? You want permission? Permission to do what? A crime? Cut the sass and go straight to the point," Seo ya said in a low tone.

"Oh well, I understand that this feels weird because I do things my own way, but this time, I have to ask for permission if I'm able to disguise as you, and go to Sydney in your stead," he said, making Seo ya speechless.

Her brother is filled with schemes. What scheme is he planning now, after all the years? "Are you serious?" Seo ya asked, raising one of her eyebrows. With a sigh, Seo Hyun said, "Yes. I'm desperate."
