Critical Hit: The World’s Clumsiest Sword Saint

[Target in sight.] [Skill Critical Eye has been activated.] Being clumsy is quite common. But Luke Hunter’s clumsiness is on a different level. As the young man quite literally stumbles through life, he wonders if there’s something more he could be doing in the world. His dreams may come to be realized, as a freak accident causes Luke to wake up as Klum, in a completely different setting than his day-to-day life. His Dexterity, a skill that measures things such as flexibility and how well one holds themself, sits at the level it was in his past life; 1. And yet, he finds his skills to be suited for an extremely coordinated individual, especially after he meets the only other Sword Saint to have ever existed, an individual who is the strongest Swordsman among those both alive and passed on. It’s up to him to find his way in his new life, and strive to reach the path of the highest Swordsman — the Sword Saint. Will he be able to transform his 1 Dexterity into a 1000? Or will he be dragged into something much deeper — much darker? Credits to valeri_mirley on fiverr for the new cover! Updating 5-10 chapters a week, and now posting on RoyalRoad!

Chapter 6 - Fight!

Okay.

I can totally do this… Right?

Focusing on the Boar, I will my eye to do the purple magic I had used earlier. Thankfully, it activated, just as I thought.

[Target in sight.]
[Critical Eye Skill activated.]

My vision turns slightly purple, and sure enough, another X pops up upon the Boar's body. And yet, this revelation of causing my skill to activate only further pushes my hope of surviving into its grave.

The Critical Mark is right between its eyes.

"The hell is with my luck," I mumble to myself, holding the stick up to try and… intimidate the Boar. Looking at its even angrier expression, my doubts that it would work grow quickly.

"Uh? Tutorial? I'm sorry about what I said. Please come back?"

The Boar, in the meantime, begins pawing the ground with one tiny little hoof, and by now I know very well what that meant. I squeak, lowering down as if that would make me less of a target somehow. Judging from how silent the messages had become, I begin to figure that there was no hope.

Suddenly…

[Strong-Armed Boar has activated Skill Bash]

[*Note: You can inspect the info on your items. Hmph.*]

I gawk at the attitude radiating from the transparent screen only I could see in front of me. Yet, I hold my tongue. I needed it. Badly.

I jump to the side to avoid the two giant tusks swiping at my legs. They drag into the dirt below where I had just been standing, throwing dirt into the damn thing's eyes and buying me a few seconds. I roll several feet on the ground before stopping on my hands and knees. Hurriedly, I bring the stick up to my face, thinking about 'wanting to see its info.' Sure enough —

'Ding!'

[Eldwood Stick]
[Rank: None]
[Description: Literally just a stick. Though, this stick comes from a 103 year-old Eldwood tree, known to be the sturdiest wood in all of Puria. Tip: you should still check your Inventory for a weapon. Idiot.]
Atk: +2
Def: +6
Spe[Speed]: +2
Dur: 20/22

A long sigh escapes from my lips. 'I would prefer a system at this point.' It was clear that the closest I would get to one was what I have with this tutorial.

'It'll have to do.'

[Strong-Armed Boar is using Bash.]

The Boar begins charging at me, a duller red hue than before covering its tusks as it raises them up to slam them down cruelly on me.

I yell at the top of my lungs, thinking 'Inventory' repeatedly in my head as I reach behind me into empty space. I hear a small 'ding!' from behind, much quieter than before. Or maybe, the tusks falling like judgment from the skies were cutting off the rest of my senses. The red hue of the tusks reminds me of how my past life had ended, due to one idiot girl in a fancy car.

My yells now fill with newfound anger as my fingers go from holding air to finding and tightly gripping the handle of something. A message pops up but I immediately mentally swipe it to the corner of my peripheral vision as my sight tunnels in on the X right in front of me. My voice grows hoarse quickly; even though it had only been about two seconds of yelling, I never yell, and I clearly wasn't accustomed to my new vocal chords yet either. Nevertheless, I empty my lungs as I twist my body to the side, the tips of the Boar's tusks cutting a rough line on both my back and left arm. Ignoring the searing pain that immediately shoots up from both areas, I thrust forward with the weapon from my inventory with all the strength I could muster, plunging it into the Boar's forehead.

[Critical Mark has been hit. Dmg adjusted to 350%.]

BANG!!

I feel a shattering pressure happen inside the hilt of the weapon I had used at the same time that an added force slams heavily into the large pig's ugly skull. This time around, the Boar didn't squeal. The only noise comes from its hulking figure slamming down, completely limp, into the ground. The angry expression that had seemed normal on its face is now twisted into a still ugly, yet peaceful look, which looks far more unnatural than the one full of rage.

[*Congrats! The user has defeated their first beast. Wasn't sure the user would make it.*]
[*Strong-Armed Boar description was unlocked.*]

[Strong-Armed Boar (Lv. 4) defeated.]
[Distributing rewards.]
