4 Practical Exam

Stepping out of the bus, I was certain that whoever owned the U.A. definitely possessed the Money Quirk. I mean, how else could someone afford to build a small city for mock battles?

Anyway, it seems we have a bit of time, so I decided to check out my competition.

There were over 30 people here, some wearing normal sports clothes, others wearing princely attire... yeah, let's not talk about that one… And others wore outfits with special gear that suited their Quirks.

It appears there are about 10 students with mutation quirks, which are the most obvious ones, since they permanently alter your body. Like the white-haired guy who seems to have multiple arms.

Even though I learned fast in this world that people look strange even without having a mutation Quirk. Like the one guy in my class who looked like an alligator, but his Quirk was to spawn swan wings out of his body… And he looked only like one because his father had a mutation Quirk that made him an alligator-human.

The other people either have emitter Quirks like mine or Ochaco's, where you get various superpowers, or transformation quirks where you can change your body while using the Quirk. These two Quirk types are mostly not visible from the outside, so it is impossible to tell what kind of Quirk they have.

And lucky me, the protagonist was also here. No idea what his problem is, but he looks like a nervous mess. This makes me want to tease him, but I'm afraid if I do that, some plot will happen where I'll be the one looking stupid...

So, I better stick to my original plan and stay as far away from him as possible… Stepping further away from him, I start to relax and allow my body to perceive the surrounding energies. Another perk from my father's Quirk, that granted me sensory abilities.

This made the Flying Thunder God Technique even possible, since I couldn't sense my seals without it. It's also one of the reasons why my mother couldn't teleport, as she cannot sense energies around here.

If I had to describe it, I would say it's like having a sixth sensory organ, that can absorb a small amount of the surrounding energies. Then it tells my brain what kind of energy it is and where it's coming from.

There are basically two different types of natural energies I can sense. The first one is the normal energy that is in the air, and the second is the energy of living beings. Without pushing it, I can normally sense it within a radius of 250 yards (229 m) around me.

For example, at this moment, I can sense our school DJ standing on a strange tower not far away from here... "Let's start!" he screams, as the giant gates of the Battle Center open up for us.

So I focused my energy into my feet and dashed past the people who were still staring in Present Mic's direction. He then screamed, "Get moving! There are no countdowns in real battles! Run, run, run, listeners!"

And when the others finally began to swarm in, I was already on a skyscraper and took out my scroll. Which were smaller than the ones in Naruto. Since you only need enough space for the signs to fit in, it was unnecessary to make them bigger than necessary.

Unrolling the scroll, I found a bunch of seals inside that I had prepared beforehand. However, for this exam, I would probably only need one. So, I placed my hand on the round seal reading ᛊᚢᛗᛗᛟᚾ᛫ᚲᚾᛁᚠᛖ᛫ᛊᛏᛟᚱᛖᛞ (Summon-Knife-Stored) and infused it with my energy to make ten marked knives manifest on it.

After leaving one knife behind, I stuffed everything else into my pouch and began to dash across the rooftops. My goals were simple: Getting an overview of the battlefield and strategically placing my knives around it.

Thanks to my energy-enhanced speed, I accomplished both in just half a minute, while gaining also a good overview of the robot's locations. Now, the only thing left was to take them out before the others could reach them…

After teleporting myself to one knife that I had placed on the other side of the Battle Center, I looked down at the different numbered robots waiting for me on the street below.

Let's see if the training paid off…

I jumped down from the house, and the robots spotted me instantly. But instead of using the weapons like miniguns and rocket launchers they had on them, they stretched out their arms while driving towards me.

This made me smile since even though these were mock battles, it was clear that the students were not in real danger, and these robots were just punching bags.

So before smashing into them, I threw a knife behind one scorpion-looking robot that had the number 2 on it and triggered the teleportation to the confusion of the villain bots. Before the scorpion robot could turn around, I jumped onto it and concentrated my energy into my fist before slamming it into its back head, *crack, crackle, crackle*.

Then body flickered to the next one—a one-eyed robot with miniguns, driving a unicycle. And used my knife to decapitate it before turning around and throwing the same knife into the last one, which had two rocket launchers on its back. Before teleporting and catching it again after the knife penetrated the head and destroyed the robot.

"Well, this will be easier than I thought," I say to the broken scrap metal under my feet and teleport into an alley that leads to another road with a bunch of other robots...

*Crack, slash, crackle…* After decimating the robot population for nearly 6 minutes, I used one arm of the one-point bot to destroy a three-point one before allowing myself a break to catch my breath.

I didn't know how many points I had because it became too bothersome to count them all. But since I cleared nearly all robots from the north of the town to the middle part of it, it should be enough to pass. There are probably not many left anyway because of the other candidates.

After taking my short one-minute break, I didn't know where to go next, so I decided to go to my first knife I placed here to see what the others were doing.

But when I looked down from the skyscraper, I had to scratch my head because they seemed to have spent more time arguing about who gets the next robot instead of splitting up and getting more points that way…

Yes, there were a bunch of robots near the entrance, but it was not worth getting them if others disturbed you or stole your kill.

And who would have thought that, amongst the crowd, is also our green-haired protagonist who runs hectically around as if he still had zero points…

Sadly, Ochaco didn't manage to escape the crowd as well. And even when she was in the front with the stoic blue-haired guy, killing robots. She still gets mostly the leftovers. But at least I could see her Quirk in action.

It seems she has only to touch the villain bots with all of her fingertips on one hand to make them float. Then she puts her hands together, and the bots get their gravity back before crashing to the ground. I can only imagine how powerful this Quirk can become if she gets stronger…

Not far from her was the stoic-looking guy, and even when he is talking like he has a stick up his ass, his movements appeared unaffected by it… It seems that he has a mutation Quirk that grants him six engine-like exhaust pipes that are coming out of each of his calves.

And whenever he is running or kicking, smoke and flames come out of them, which seems to boost his speed and kicking power in some crazy way.

After seeing him deal with the bots effectively like that, there was no doubt that he had been trained by someone, and considering how he acted, probably by a hero or some stoic military guy…

*Bang, bang, bang, bang.* Suddenly, the earth starts to shake, and I need to hold myself onto the edge of the building to not fall down … What the hell was this?

Looking towards the downtown part of the city, I see a kaiju-like robot crawling out of the ground before showing everyone its true height. So this is the thing they placed as an obstacle? A pretty big one if you ask me…

And it seems it has a target because it heads directly towards us.
