Dream Away

People say dreams are a look into the subconscious, that they reflect what you are feeling.

'"So why is this place so empty?" His voice echoed throughout the space and he listened as it faded away. He can see himself clearly, so he is not in a dark place but somehow everything around him is black.

The only color in this space, his pale white skin and plain pajamas seemed to faintly glow.

"Hello? Anyone there?" Again, there is no response other than his own voice. Nothing appeared in the darkness. "It worked! It finally worked!" He had been trying to get one for days.

"This must be a lucid dream! Mr.Morton didnt describe it like this but... what else could it be?" Earlier this week had been a Physcology unit on the sub consciousness, and since he was interested in how the brain worked he decided to test it himself.

"So what do I want to happen? Crap I didn't think this far. Uh.. flight! Yeah I should start with something simple. Concentrate." The darkness started to flicker, suddenly replaced by open sky and fluffy clouds. Somewhere under him, green pastures expanded throughout the darkness.

"No way!" This whole experiment has been planned out until now. He didn't know what to do after he actually had a lucid dream but whatever works.

The scene had almost been painted now, hilly wide open expanses of grass and the occasional tree, accompanied by the blue sky and fluffy clouds.

As the last bits darkness faded away, and he began to fly he realized one very important thing: 'I can't fly!' So instead of flying, he fell. Faster and faster, the ground approached.

He closed his eyes and willed himself to stop flying. He knew this was a bad idea, but his curiosity got the best of him and now he is paying the consequences. "Ahhhhhhhhhhh!"

"Um, hey kid. Joseph, right? So yeah I uh-" A voice spoke into his ear, but Joseph did not hear him. He was to busy screaming.

"Ahhhhhhhhhh! I'm to young to die! Ahhhhh." Jospeh is starting to lose his voice at this point, which is saying something. He is in a dream after all.

"Jospeh, Joey, whatever you want to be called stop screaming you have been frozen there for two minutes now!" The new voice is starting to sound frustrated.

After another minute of no response, unless you count screaming for your mother a response, the voice decided to take things into his own hands. Water appeared above Joseph and ,with a small snapping sound, the water soaked Joseph.

"Ahhhh! Put-ugh! What the?! I'm alive!" Joseph sputtered and opened his eyes and to see the ground far below him. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhh..... Hey! I'm floating! I did it!" The teen celebrated.

"You! I just saved you from waking up in a cold sweat and you try and take the credit. I'm learning very quickly that you humans are very annoying!" The disembodied voice got angry, how dare this human ignore him!

"What the?! Who are you? I don't remember imagining you?!" Now he was confused.

"You still think this is a lucid dream? You idiot! You just learned this, you know how a lucid dream starts! Also, turning my #&<×@* into a pasture?! Really?" The voice started gaining volume, exasperated.

"I don't understand..." At this point Joseph felt confused and maybe a little afraid. The darkness that he had previously pushed away started reappearing covering the pastures and sky. The only difference this time is the stars.

"Here, I'll speak slowly so you'll understand," The voice said. "I need a favor." That's it!? A favor?! Maybe Joseph's subconscious has taken the dream over.

"You see, I'm on a collision course with your planet." The voice had quieted back down now, and the stars surrounding Jospeh began to move. No, he began to move.

As he moved, Earth came into view right under him. Joseph sucked in air, speechless. Beauty was one way to describe Earth was vibrant and the two moons floating around painted a beautiful picture. Two moons?

"Your world's governments have just found out about a strange 'meteorite', and from what I've learned of your language they plan to bombard my %@^@& with missiles to tear me apart.

Jospeh was pushed toward the ship, which did look strange. It was all angles and craters, like it had been through a lot. Granted, without knowing what it was Joseph might have thought it was a meteor too. Then the voice said something that shocked Joseph out if his stupor.

"So if you could stop them for me, that would be great. If not I could die so... good luck!" Thr voice seemed encouraging. "Remember, this is real. Don't let your primal fears control you. Bye." The scenery started fading away.

"How am I supposed to help you?! I am a teenager that has absolutely not connections with the government besides 991! I have so many questions!" Instead of fading into black, everything started turning white.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Wake up! Joey! Mom said to wake up!" An annoyingly cute little girl shook him awake. The boy just pulled the covers farther over his head. The girl pouted

"Mom! Joey won't get up!" The girl yelled and started jumping on his bed. Jospeh sighed, here it comes.

"Jospeh Elijah Anderson! Get up now if you want breakfast! Your gonna miss the bus! Samantha, stop jumping on the bed!" His mom threw out orders like a drill sergeant. Joey's sister giggled and ran out of the room.

Joey groaned and hopped out of bed, already halfway into his closet doing so. In a few seconds flat he was dressed and ready to go. He had everything ready.

"Joey get on pants! Why are you so tired today?" His mom questioned his abnormal behavior. Usually he was up fifteen minutes early, and wide awake.

All she got in respond is a grunt. In contrast, today he seems to be a zombie. Five minutes later, pants on this time, Joey was ready to go. His sister skipped through the hallway and smirked at him. This did not bode well.

"I just heard on the news that a meteor shower is happening tonight. Don't worry I already called your club friends' parents, they're fine with it." Joey rejoiced! Maybe this bode well after all. He started walking out the door, he was late as it is.

"By the way, Sammy is coming with you. Have a good day! Love you!" The door shut.

"Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!"

This story has been in my mind for forever, and it just has to be told. Any mistakes you see, tell me. I want the book to get better. I want to be better as an author. I'm not super good at any of this, but I like it anyway.

Enjoy.
