Start of an Observer

Ever since that talk at dinner, 5 years have passed and Caitlyn has started to observe the people around her as a hobby and after a while it became a natural habit. She's learned so much about a person by just the way they present themselves. Like Caroline, I never would've suspected that she has so many insecurities and especially when it involves Elena. She is always so bubbly and cheerful around everyone, but once I started to observe the small details such as fiddling and looking into someone's eyes that surprisingly reveal a lot, I have discovered her hidden side of a little girl that just wants to be loved.

The people I once thought were kind in fact weren't and I've come to like the people I didn't before. I constantly watched Tyler's reactions when it came to the mention of his father or someone else's and the way he would tense or flinch. The way his eyes darted around like he was expecting an enemy to come out and attack him. Or when his father is with him and how he stays strangely silent and his eyes...the eyes are frightened and scared.

I never really liked Tyler with his rude comments, jerkish personality, and just his unkind personality in general. I never thought anything of the mayor, but when I noticed the interaction between him and his son I was furious. How could he do that to his own child!

Or with Vicki. I always knew she would turn into a stoner and thought nothing of it because she was a lost cause, but when I figured out her and Matt's relationship with their mother I understood.

Just like my mother told me a couple years back,

"Look underneath the surface and you might find something unexpected"

I sighed while watching Caroline and Elena chat across from me

'I looked past Elena's surface but nothing was surprising. She's just like I thought...…..dull' I thought and rested my head in my palms while sipping a smoothie, 'It's not like she's a bad person per say but.....*sigh* How do I put this? She's simple, there's no hidden side or anything at all. She's popular and expects the attention, but she doesn't do anything bad when she doesn't. The most that changes is her expression that turns into confusion or put off when something isn't directed at her.'

I just don't find her appealing and that's fine if Jermey would stop bugging me to at least try and get along with her, and that's why I'm here in the Mystic Grill listening to Caroline and Elena talk about boys. I would have joined in if it was 3 years ago, but ever since I started to naturally observe people I have become more of a silent listener and introvert.

"Elena there's a party tomorrow night, are you coming" Carolin informs

"Yeah, I'll just have to sneak out of the house. My parents won't let me go on family game night" Elena says

I suddenly shivered at her answer. For some reason I got a bad feeling about the party.

Violet P.O.V.

"Bye guys" I waved to Miranda and Grayson who were walking away from our house

"Violet" Liam says lowly from next to me

"Yeah, I know" I said with a sullen voice and leaned my head against Liam's shoulder

"We won't see them after today"

Tomorrow Miranda and Grayson are going to die from a car crash off of Wickery bridge after they pick Elena up from a party she snuck out to

We could easily save them but we won't. The reason is simple...why should we.

You might think that we're friends and care for them, but that's not true. We were fascinated with them at the start because they were fictional characters and the parents of the main character, and then started to like them as actual people a while after that. Though that changed fast. We know their vampire hunters and will kill vamps, but I hoped they would leave the innocent ones alone.

A year after Caitlyn was born Liam and I met a young vampire of 16 who stumbled across Mystic falls to live a normal life. Her name was Tia and she didn't want to hurt anyone and was scared of herself. We reassured her and tried to help her get settled in with her secret hidden, but the council found out and sent Grayson to kill her. Tia never did anything wrong and they still killed her just because she was a vampire.

We don't take kind to people discriminating a species for what others did

Another reason would be we want to know what happens later on so we can protect our daughter. Our top priority is her and if people still have to die, then it'll happen.

We don't care if we're considered selfish or bad, we've lived our whole lives murdering others so watching someone die is nothing.

Liam and I gaze intently at the backs of the two before turning around and entering the house.

Time skip

"Hit harder! What are you gonna accomplish with that pathetic punch!" Liam shouted at Caitlyn who was attacking a punching bag hanging from the ceiling of the basement

Gritting her teeth Caitlyn punched more aggressively without hesitation

*rip*

Sand started to pour through the rip Caitlyn made and spread all over the floor

"Good" Liam grinned

Caitlyn sighed and wondered why she was made to learn how to fight in the first place. Her parents never answered her when she questioned where they learned all their skills from.

"I heard there's a party tonight, are you going?" Liam asked

"Um.. I don't know" Caitlyn said a little hesitant

"Do you have a bad feeling again" Liam narrowed his eyes waiting for her response

"Yeah, I don't know what it is, but somethings going to happen"

Liam stayed silent and turned to leave

"You don't have to go just inform us if you are"

"Kay" Caitlyn mumbled grabbing her water bottle

...….

In their rooms Violet and Liam are in a deep conversation

"Violet, she's having bad feelings about the events that are going to take place. I thought it was fine when she was young and not wanting to be friends with Elene, but she can tell when something might happen." Liam explained serious

Violet was in deep thought and ran a hand through her hair

"She might be a witch" Liam continued

"I don't know. We're not supernatural and there's no way one of our ancestors were because we're not from this world, but ...." Violet stopped and put a hand on her chin

"But" Liam asked

"Well, we kinda were magically transported here after dying. So who's to say we don't have magical abilities. Our daughter can't have powers if we don't" Violet shrugged

"Hm" Liam leaned back on the bed and thought

A moment of silence passed between the two before they both bolted up with stars in their eyes

"We might have powers!" They both said excitedly
