282 The teleportation station (1)

I look down and see that the last five pages are covered in splattered blood.

I am so done with this!

"Well, it's past ten and you still have to pack stuff for tomorrow. Better hurry home for now."

"I can't just leave this mess here, can I?"

"Archibald will certainly take good care of this mess as well as your finished skill book for the throwing skill."

I guess that would be a fair arrangement. With a solution for the mess I made, I leave work and return home where, not to my surprise, I find Navi chatting with Melody. No wonder she wanted me to hurry home.

"What is it this time?"

"Guy, I don't always bring bad news, you know! I was just here to bring you your tickets, discuss a few things, and help Melody put the girls to sleep."

"Well, thank you for the latter part but what is there to discuss?"

"Well, mainly your accommodation. Titus has been very excited about meeting your daughter so he might have gone a little overboard."

Since Melody doesn't take part in the conversation, I assume that Navi has already discussed this with her.

"How so?"

"He got you the penthouse suite in one of the hotels inside the park. He also conveniently resides in the penthouse suite of another hotel. And there are bridges that connect all the penthouse suites."

"So, he wants to meet Quinn I take it."

"He most certainly does."

"Will declining his offer stop him?"

"He'll just meet her when you aren't looking."

"Then why are you even asking me?"

"I can't have you staying in a penthouse suite against your will, can I?"

"Can you at least make sure that nothing inappropriate happens when they meet?"

"Guy! Titus is not interested in that kind of thing! His interest in your daughter is purely intellectual. Quinn is a minor so any of that would be illegal!"

I doubt a super dungeon master like Vespasian would be deterred by that but I refuse to let anyone ruin this little vacation.

"Anything else?"

"Well, just a general rundown. Valeria will come by in the morning, she has the teleportation pass, here are your VIP tickets. You'll be shown to your accommodations when you hand in your tickets at the park. Have fun and don't think about work… at least not too much."

"I guess I'll try?"

"I'm sure you'll do great."

With that, Navi hands is the VIP tickets and leaves. After a bit of cuddling, Melody and I retire for the night.

Morning comes quickly and brutally in the form of our doorbell being rung. We usually sleep for a while longer during weekends so Valeria has to sit and watch us eat breakfast. She doesn't seem bothered though, she looks kind of spaced out.

<She's blocking me out again but from what little got through to me, she's not had a pleasant night.>

Will lack of sleep cause problems for her?

<A few days without sleep shouldn't bother her but she's been off ever since her relapse. I think the lack of sleep might be getting to her.>

Let's hope nothing bad happens.

After a hearty breakfast, we are on our way. The teleportation station is a fair bit away and with everyone having a suitcase, using public transport may be inconvenient. Fortunately, Navi has got us covered as a taxi arrives right as we exit the house.

A quick drive brings us to the plaza in the middle of which the teleportation station is located. This one is a station specialized in teleportation within the alpha plane. All stations can do any kind of teleportation but for convenience they were separated by type. No one wants to travel to another city and be greeted by blood soaked adventurers stumbling out of the station.

When we arrive, there is already a long line. I guess we should have come sooner. It looks like there are at least two hundred people ahead of us and by the speed that things are moving, we need to wait in line for at least half an hour.

Resigned to our fate, we begin to move towards the end of the line when Valeria stops us.

"No need to wait in line. I have a gold pass so we can skip the line entirely."

"Including us?"

"The privilege of a gold pass is that you can bring up to seven people along with you."

My daughters immediately get curious and while we walk past the line, they ask her questions.

"How do you get a gold pass?"

"Is there a silver pass too?"

"Can we get one too?"

"Is it expensive?"

"The gold pass is given to adventurers who reach a certain level of combat power. In my case it's because my level has reached 200. Before that I had the silver pass given to adventurers with combat powers of around level 100. Above my pass is the void pass given only to adventurers who's power is considered legendary. They can pretty much do what they want with that pass. As for the price, we pay the same as any normal user, we just get more benefits."

As we move further up along the line and it becomes clear that we are heading for the teleportation station, people start to get noisy. Individual who qualify to receive a gold pass are usually quite famous, so no one dares to complain when they make use of their privilege to skip the line.

However, Valeria isn't well known, probably because of her trying to hide from her former family. Therefore, we quickly get into a not so comfortable situation.

"Oi, what are you doing?"

"Are you to blind to see the line, idiots?"

"Think you are special because you're in a hurry? Screw you, we all are in a hurry but we have to wait in line too!!!"

"Get your sorry behinds to the back of the line, now!"

"Or go home altogether and rethink your life choices. Must be embarrassing to miss a line this big!"
