First Text

After finishing my shift, I felt exhausted and rushed back home and took a shower.

Tossing myself on the bed, I looked at my phone as it buzzed and showed a notification. It's him.

"Hey, this is Riley! ∩^ω^∩ I hope I'm not bothering you... but are you free this Thursday?"

Ah.. he seems so cute even through text.. Thursday... that's in two days, I shouldn't have anything scheduled. Would this be a date?

"Evening, I should be free on that day. What's the occasion?"

'My text looks so stiff...' I thought as I tugged at the towel on my head.

I got a reply almost instantly.

"Well I was wondering if you'd like to hang out ^^ this... could be considered a date if you will //(////)// nothing big, just a movie, on me of course!"

I felt my ears redden at the word 'date'.. reality finally crashed in.. I'm really dating Riley now.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to follow along since I'm already here,right? Besides, it's free, should be no harm in indulging a bit.

Jake: "Sounds alright.. what's the time and place?"

Riley: "6pm at xxxx theater!"

Jake: "Alright, I'll see you then I suppose. Gn.."

Riley: "Night! ヽ(*＾ω＾*)ﾉ"

I stared at my ceiling, a bit dazed. A date... I hadn't been on one since my 2nd year of highschool..

It wasn't anything special, I just made plans with my girlfriend but it ended up being my last one..

I shook my head to wave away the bad thoughts and turned off the lights. Crawling into my blankets, I drew in the warmth and fell asleep.
