Unbreakable Oath- 3
It was the first time Ling allowed an expression to show on his face.
His eyes went wide. Things hardly shocked the wizard but this one froze Ling to the spot.
The man didn't have a tongue.
[Why], Ling thought.
"What happened to you?", Ling asked. He wasn't directing the question at the assassin at that moment. Ling was asking himself because he had never seen such a situation before. [Someone's tongue... removed?], Ling thought.
Ling remembered the time and the fact that he had to wrap up here as the effect of his magic would soon wear off.
"So you can not talk", Ling said.
"But I know you work for the queen and I know you can hear and understand me. So, this is how we will do it. You will nod your response to me. Do you understand?"
Still no reaction.
Ling ignored that. He was determined to get something from the assassin before the break of dawn.
