****Ebele POV***

'' When will we be there?'' I asked, for the fifth time. It was like the time was ticking faster than usuall, or maybe he was just driving slowly.

'' In 15 minute Mamm.'' Herr Lehmann replied. I sighed, it seemed to be taking forever to arrive to my destination, and I was late by more than an hour.

I opened my WeChat, there were already a lot of messages in our group chat. I pursed my lips, as I scrolled through the conversations, that have taken place. It seems like, I'm the only that was yet to arrive.

In no way do I like to draw attention to myself, but it was clear, that I won't be able to avoid that tonight. They're all definitely going to gossip about, how much of an attention seeker I am.

I would have felt better, if Rupert will be there with me, but he can't at the moment, well that was what he claimed, after I had told him, that my engagement was rescheduled for this month. He had not replied to the text, I sent him this afternoon, about the whole fuss, my mum pulled the whole day.

I could do nothing, but sit in this big for nothing car, and watch numerous cars pass by and the shiny advertisements, on the road sides, as we drive pass them. My phone chimed, but I didn't check it, no point in getting cold feet.

Finally, we arrived at our meeting point. I quickly got down, and slammed the door shut, before the chauffeur could help me with it. '' You really don't have to wait for me.'' I started. ''I will just take a taxi back'' I gave him a pleading look, hoping, that he would listen to me this time.

'' You're aware, that I can't do that, especially when the people you're meeting are capable of bulling you. And besides, I've already promised Frau Meier to drive you back''

I appriciate, that he had always been there all my childhood for me, and also faithful to my family. But at the same time, there all need to understand, that I'm no longer a child, but a grown up, who will soon be engaged.

I could taste the strawberry lipgloss, as I chewed down on my lip. I was so frustrated, but it would be impolite to insist, he's just doing his job. '' Okay, do whatever you have to do, but please don't follow me inside, or call, when you think, it's too late to stay out.'' I blinked my big brown eyes in hope that he would cut me some slacks. I knew I was giving him a hard time.

'' Okay, I won't disturb you at all, and you can stay as late, as you want'' I couldn't hold my relief in, so I smiled sweetly, with all my white teeth showing.''

'' But I can't leave you all by yourself. '' He added. My face fell instantly, with a sollen face, I nodded.

I didn't insist anymore, It's of no use wasting my time fighting a loosing battle. I lead the way, towards the luxury hotel. The night breeze was gentle, my back length hair swayed, as I hurried towards the entrance. It was spacious, and the architecture illustrates extravagant. This is a compliment coming from someone, who her father deals with designs, of buildings, companies..and so...

Finally inside, I slowed my pace, and steadied my breath, before making my way to the elevator. Herr Lehman curtly followed suit, I pressed the third floor, and we waited in silence. In no time, it slid opened, and we stepped out at the same time. I checked our chat, to comfirm that I was at the right floor.

Self assured, I strode towards the third door. I hasitated before opening the door.

'' Please just stand by the door, it will feel wired just having you inside. I don't want to inconvenience my friends, so Please..please.'' I pleaded with him.

I After giving it a thought, he gave me permission to go ahead. I flashed him a thank~you smile, then I took a deep breath before opening the door.

I squinted my eyes, as the light was too dim. And slowly shut the door. I swept my gaze across the room, to navigate, which table I should head to. The atmosphere was filled with the aroma of citrus, alcohol, and even freashly brewed coffee.

Suddenly, My feet was stuck to the floor, I couldn't move. I would love to walk over, and say hello to everyone, but I could not. I felt really out of place at that moment. The outfit I went for tonight, was a white ruffle~sleeved blouse with a coquettish keyhole neckline, and a pencil end black trouser, with red ballerinas. I suddenly felt like a slut, not that their dressing were decent. It's just that it was obvious, that I put up some work. I even went as far as styling my long brown hair into, and a glossy lip. For god's sake, it is just a classmate reunion, but I took it as a big deal. I didn't want to under dress, so not to be picked on. But it's clear, that I would definetly be teased for being overdressed.

The music wasn't loud, just slow and smooth, that was the theme for the night, to hang out, take a break from work, for those of those, that were working, and catch up with each others life.

I had wanted to decline, when Rupert bailed. He always does. Night activities aren't his shade at all.

But me being so desperate to leave the house just for few hours, came all alone. It's much better than being with my overbearing mother hovering arround me like a motherhen, and singing about the engagement.

''If you keep standing here, no one is going to notice you.'' I recognized that voice, so I turned to my left, and saw Callum, who had always been the best in politics, seated at the corner, wearing that same look on his face, like everyone in this world is his enemy.

'' It's not like I wanted to be noticed either'' I muttered under my breath.
