Chapter 22

End of flashback:

"I have been so foolish, I should have seen through Diana's words and masked facade," she cursed at herself, with a bitter smile as she recollected her memories.

"How are you realizing that now?" Cullen chuckled behind her, leaning against the door frame, "It's foolish to let people walk on you,"

Amelia frowned at the sudden sound of Cullen's voice. Her mind had been so occupied, that she failed to notice his presence.

Also, what's that thing with his voice?

Seductive… That's not a strong word, enough to describe his voice. His voice rattled her soul. She hadn't realized it yet, but since last night, she began to take notice of his voice.

Whenever he said something, her heart clenched. It was as if something deep inside her had woken up. His voice was hard to describe… it was so deep, with the perfect amount of dryness.

So velvety, and strangely, she could listen to him for an hour and not stop. His voice practically reverberated in her chest.

Very captivating… yet provoking. She imagined how lucky his girlfriend was, listening to him every day.

Well, she doesn't care. His voice can keep on melting her for all she cares. She would resist his charm. Regardless, what was she thinking?

She gasped, 'Was Daniel right when he called me nothing but a whore? How can I admire another man's voice so badly?' she scolded herself.

She veered around to face Cullen, only to see a ghost smirk at the corner of his lips. His expression explained to her that he perfectly knew what he was doing.

Amelia rolled her eyes and returned her gaze to the counter table. Too bad his face matched his voice. Had it not, she would have been the first to laugh the hell out of him.

"Did you consider my offer from last night?" Cullen spoke up after a long period of silence, breaking Amelia's train of thought.

Amelia frowned, "You have a girlfriend ready," she said in a low and uninterested voice.

Cullen walked towards her and stood before her. Amelia was forced to raise her face. When she did, Cullen made sure to lock their gaze.

"She wasn't my girlfriend. I keep my women monthly. Every month, I sign a new contract with a new woman. Her contract expired today, so I called her to pay her off," he explained in the same mellow voice.

Amelia shrugged her shoulders, "That's not my business."

"Too bad you need my help," Cullen retorted, mimicking her gesture as he picked up an apple from the fruit tray behind him. His eyes held mischief in them.

Amelia blinked in surprise. His choice of words and actions surprises her most of the time. It makes her doubt he was the same man who saved her.

"Can I ask a question?" Amelia asked after searching his gaze. Cullen winked at her, and she went ahead to ask, "On the night you first saved me, in your hotel room that day, why did you save me? Why did you not just have your way with me since I was heavy on Flibanserin?"

Cullen's expression turned serious. "That's because I knew you weren't acting on your own will. I saw a lady mix something inside your drink from where I sat that night, but I never imagined you would be the one my secretary would send to my room for the night. Also, you looked younger than my women," he said.

Amelia swallowed and looked away. She could still remember that night. That was the night she found out she would get married to Daniel.

Claiming she wanted to help, Diana took her out to one of the clubs. The loud music and everything disturbed her, but Amelia tried to endure it for Diana's sake. She can't stand seeing Diana unhappy.

However, she barely lasted fifteen minutes after returning from the bathroom. Everything changed, and she became so hot and restless.

She had no idea about what was happening around her anymore. Only for her to wake up in someone's bed the next morning, naked with a heavy hangover.

When she opened her eyes, she saw Cullen sitting on the couch beside the door with a scornful expression. The moment she opened her eyes, he walked out of the room without giving her an explanation of what happened.

Panicking, she went to the hospital for an all-through check-up. She was lucky she still had her V-card, but the nurses and doctors couldn't stop congratulating her on how lucky she was to have consumed something like that without having sex.

There and then, Amelia there numb and fell to the floor. She wished to be able to thank the handsome man she saw in the room with her.

It was never possible since she didn't know his name. As fate would have it, he attended one of Daniel's business parties, and that was where she knew Cullen's name.

Time passed, and she never heard from him again, until days ago at the bridge. She can't thank her lucky stars enough.

"Thank you," Amelia muttered with wet eyes.

It wasn't until after her marriage she found out Diana was behind the whole plan. She planned the whole act with Daniel, so he would refuse to marry her without blame.

The plan was to film her having sex with a stranger, and show it to the whole world and not have to marry her anymore.

However, the cleaner sent to take her to the scheduled room took her to the wrong one. Rather than room 302, he took her to room 320 and that was how the wedding pushed forward.

Amelia wiped her eyes dry. She raised her face to Cullen. Her eyes turned a bit mischievous, yet playful.

"Can you sing?" she questioned.

Cullen said nothing and just stared at her. He felt that was a dumb question to ask, and she wouldn't do anything with the reply he would give

Amelia chuckled. She stood up from the floor, folded her arms across her chest, and looked into his eyes, saying, "Since you can't sing, I don't think this would work. You have a nice voice, but it seems you have to work harder. The moment you learn how to sing, our deal will automatically be signed,"

Cullen was dumbfounded by what she said. He lifted one of his eyebrows, challengingly. Amelia said nothing, she just gave him a playful jab with her shoulder and giggled her way out of the kitchen.
