A New World

It was in fact, a beautiful day outside, at least I think so. The world is so grim these days that there can barely be peace from reality.

"If only I can free my mind..." I mumbled

My life is already a big burden, with Mom and Dad in constant argument that can be solved in one way, to the death of many fellow people, such as Uncle, and my only sibling, who "died" at 3. My dad was a successful person, who uses the power of business works, and gambling, like most other people. He told me an old tale that success doesn't come to you, but instead it guides you to the path of peace, and sincerity. To this day, I still don't know what he meant by that, but all I know is that he can afford almost anything he can, and still have enough money to support his companies. My mom, however, really suffered a great life, with constant abuse and laboring, she had to escape her house and sheltered on the streets for 2 years, until she met my dad. The two somehow magically managed to marry each other, and here I am, having to live with a corrupted family from the very beginning.

The "death" of my baby brother happened when I was 10, where the worst tragedy happened. My dad and my mom was having arguments again, except this one was different, it felt like this wasn't just a normal one. They were trying to abandon the young poor child. I heard about it for a while, and it fears me, the fact that my parents, the intelligent ones, trying to do stupid, immature stuff. I knew this was going to happen, as the family all went to an adoption center, and left the kid there, for him so survive on his own. This really affected me, as I see the dark side of the world, how the world really works, and the idea that every good thing has to come to an end, and mostly formed who I am today. I had way too much to handle as a teen, and this break would give me back that energy I had years ago.

I walked out of my room, and washed my face in a relatively large bathroom, as always. I put a shirt over my extremely weakened body, and headed out for chores duty, like every typical day. The house that we owned were massive, like an old castle back in those medieval times. We have a butler, who really only cares for the money, but can sometimes be a helpful person for me. I tried greeting the butler.

"Hey there, man." No replies came out. I gave out a stank eye. He did the same.

I continued walking out, until I reached the rice farm. That's where I work most of the time. A stinky, disgusting place for weaklings like me. I took the rake from the corner of the fence and started working the field off.

About 2 hours of hard work, it was noon. The sweats were building up on my shirt. I wanted a break, but the problem here is that my parents usually don't allow me to go on a break when I'm working, as corrupt as always. So I did what most 9 years old always do, although I'm 15; Ask their parents for permission. Without hesitation, I ran up into dad's room as fast as my tiny little legs could and asked.

"Hey dad, you don't mind if I have a quick break for the day?"

"A quick break? How about you hustle back to work before you get in trouble?"

Just like that, a big fat fist into the face. I knew I wouldn't be able to go anyways since my dad is just a grumpy little sandbag who's always mad at something's like always. I even remembered that one time when my dad was mad over the fact that I did my homework. But it's just the way my family functions as I knows it, punish your children so they become better people in society. I have no other choice but to bring the problem over to mom.

"Mom, can I please go outside and play?"

"How many times do I have to say it? I don't want you to get into bad habits from outsiders."

"But… I..."

"No buts or anything else. Now be a good boy and go back to work"

Another one to the face, and I knew it was over. There is no such thing as peace for me. I was the most broken child, from the beginning to now. As depressed as I am, I sat on the table in my room, and kept staring at the window of my room, looking at the bright sunny, beautiful sky. I was always alone. There would be no one that would talk to me, or accept me as a friend. Loneliness will always be in me, always.

Suddenly, a feeling deep in my heart rise. It almost feels like I'm determined to exit out of this wrecked place and form a new life. This is where I started a new plan for my own life. I want people to know what I have done, as in a contribution, but anything would do. I pulled out a map from my dusted cabinet and started examining what possible location I can explore. As I search and search endlessly, I discovered a mountain near my house, Mount Ebott to be exact. The mountain is known for its size and history. I once heard that Mount Ebott was the place where monsters were held at, under a special spell casted by humans. It has an interesting background overall, like the battle of the Monsters And Humans and the enslavement of the monsters. With such a great history and overall interests, it caught my attention.

I started thinking about possibilities that I can do there. I thought about it and figure out the perfect plan, jump down to Mt Ebott and try to explore it fully. I thought it was a good idea, since if I survive the jump from the mountain to the Underground, I can set an unwritten page in the history books. Excited by this, I started gathering my stuff together, from the map that I examined to the slightest thing like a pencil and a notebook for notes. I waited until it was night, and sneaked out of the house through the window and dashed towards Mt. Ebott. Soon, I reached the destination, and looked downward to the never-ending darkness. The mountain is pretty deep as the tales said so, and there's no coming back. I took a deep breath and jumped down into the black hole.

Thump!

Everything went dark. Just silence.

"Partner…" A voice echoed across my mind,

"Wake...up.."

I woke up, concussed, and confused about where I'm at.

"Urgh… My head…"

"Hello child, are you ok?" A mysterious voice called

"Uh...yeah…Who are you?"

"It doesn't matter right now, I'll go get you some help. Wait for me."

I struggle to stand up, and found myself lying on a patch of fully grown sunflower, wondering to myself on how a broken child survived such a drop. I tried looking back up, seeing if there's a way back to the surface, but there was no light shining down whatsoever, just darkness and darkness… But, that doesn't stop me from exploring this place, and find all the secret hidden under here, the Underground. I started to walk towards a dim light right across the golden flowers patch. The darkness and injuries gave me chills, as I was unable to fight, or get into a conflict. As I kept walking and walking closer to the light, a maniac laughter echoed throughout the darkness, giving it a scarier mood each step, to the point where I was shaking, scared to death.

As I reached the tiny emitting light, I noticed another patch of golden flowers, but this one was different, as if they were living things. I walked towards the patch of golden flowers, just to hear the ground shaking, and punching the terrain as hard as it could. A golden flower grows out of that patch of grass, but it's different than the others, with a pair of eyes, and a big smile in the center of the petals.

"What ARE you?" I asked with an eager voice.

"Manners, manners, did anyone teach you manners?" the flower replies

"How am I supposed to have manners when a FLOWER is talking?"

"You new to the Underground? Because stuff like these are normal for us. You probably don't even know how to survive." It teases me.

"Survive? I know everything about survival, how about you, flower?" I asked in such a tone that made the flower felt disturbed.

"Jeez… just do you want to know how to properly survive in the Underground?"

I thought about it for a while, and finally comes up with an answer.

"Flower...I guess it doesn't harm me to learn about the 'basic' of survival."

"Sweet! Let me show you the way of survival!" The flower happily replied.

Everything started turning dark again, but this time in particular, I can myself facing the golden flower, one on one.

"Uh. Why are we trying to kill each other?" I questioned

"No we aren't stupid enough to try and kill each other, my attacks are simple to dodge, and I assure you you'll defeat me, human"

"Whatever you say… flower boy"

It gives out that disgusted face, but remained calm and nicely said "It's Flowey, but i don't mind flower boy, but I think we should move on. You see that heart glowing in your body?"

I looked down, and saw my heart glowing bright red. I took a deep breath.

"AH! Why is my heart red, first of all?" I screamed.

"Eh? It's normal, get used to it, because it represents you." The flower calmed me down.

"So? What do I do with the heart?'

"The heart is your SOUL, and this is what you are in this world, and that's how you interact with people, and dodge, I guess."

"You currently have 20 HP right now, but that can increase when you acquired Levels. You want some Levels right now, don't you human?" The flower asked

"... I guess?" I responded.

"Sweet! Just walk into these friendliness pellets!"

I saw the pellets coming towards me. As panicked as I could be, I ran around, dodging all the pellets. It noticed this, and disappointingly said:

"You were supposed to let it hit you, not dodge it…"

"No, flower, I ain't gonna let that hit me, I could die, you know?"

"You know what, fine. I'll show you the hard way."

It gave out a maniac laugh, and surround me with the pellets. The mood just completely changed.

"What are you thinking?" I asked with a nervous laugh.

"Me? I'm just doing my job, teaching new players…"

"That in this world, it's." The flower stopped

"Killed or Be Killed."

The room was quiet just like a night street. Nothing happened, at least not yet I thought. It was filled with cold air. The flower stood there, doing absolutely nothing, but waiting. Suddenly, a fireball came out of nowhere, and knocked the flower away, causing the pellets to disappear. A figure appeared, and looked the same as the person who helped me out in the beginning.

"My child, are you ok?" The figure asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine, except that flower murderer."

"It's time I introduced myself, isn't it child?"

The figure walked towards the dim light. It was a goat. A white goat, with a purple dress, with a symbol of a delta, with wings in the two sides from the delta.

"Hello, child. I am Toriel. The caretaker of the Ruins, where you are right now."

"Ruins? But this place doesn't look ruined at all." I questioned.

"Child, do you want me to guide you across the Ruins?"

"Yeah, definitely. I don't want to get lost again."

"Ok, child. Follow my lead!" Then, she slowly makes her way to the entrance of the Ruins.

I knew that once I walked through that gate, the true adventure begins, with no resources or knowledge of the Underground. But this will set me on a journey of the legend of the Underground, and a tale that I will never forget. Without a doubt, I entered the gate, and hastily followed Toriel into the abyssal path towards the Ruins
