11 Academy's Entrance Ceremony

"Finally, it's starting," Ares muttered to himself, since today was the Academy's Entrance Ceremony.

He stood in front of a mirror, fixing his hair, and then stopped to admire himself; he was dressed in a black loose T-shirt, black jeans, and black sneakers.

Though the Academy has uniforms, they will be used after class allocations. There will be some exams, and the top scorers will be assigned to a special class, while other good and average students will be assigned to Alpha and Beta classes, respectively, and different class students will have different uniforms and dorms than other classes.

And of course, treatment for Special class students will be more lavish and extravagant than for other classes...

As the Academy adheres to the "strong deserve the finest care" and "survival of the fittest" principles.

It makes no difference whether you're a prince or a princess; if you're not strong enough, you won't get the best treatment.

POV Ares ~

After getting dressed and styling my hair, I checked on the Quest that I received from the System a few days earlier; I had no idea the System had this kind of functionality, and I had never heard of anything like it in my previous world.

The System prompt seemed different from my typical status screen...

[SYSTEM NOTIFICATION]

1) GET THE HIGHEST SCORE IN ACADEMY'S ENTRANCE EXAMINATION ( NOT COMPLETED )

2) GET RANK #1 IN THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION ( NOT COMPLETED )

3) GET INTO THE SPECIAL CLASS ( NOT COMPLETED )

QUEST REWARD ~ ABILITY: UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE

QUEST FAILURE ~ ???

***

I will become involved in the main storyline if I complete the quest, hence the mission's objective is to get me involved in the tale.

'...I wasn't intending on avoiding it anyway,' I pondered while checking the quest.

"If I finish the first and second quests, the third will be completed automatically," I mumbled to myself as I examined the reward section.

'The ability universal language, though its description is not given I knew exactly what that ability is, it will help the user to speak and understand every language available,

it was in the form of blessing rather than ability though, it helped 'Lucas Eugene' the main character of the novel to talk and understand the language of constellations.

One of the constellations gave this blessing to Lucas to help him understand and communicate with her because not all constellations speak the human language.

But it wasn't supposed to appear this early in the story though, it's like a major spoiler...'

I shook my head and got out of my thoughts.

"I have to complete the quests first," I muttered to myself and left Mika Amami's mansion.

And soon in front of the mansion's gate I was met with Helena who was waiting for me, we both greeted each other and got in Helena's car, unlike Mika's sports car Helena drives a muscle car.

Helena started the car as soon as we both got in, and we were soon on our way to the Academy.

I could have gone there by myself but Helena insisted on giving me a ride so I didn't refuse, I know she just wanted to show off her custom-made muscle car so I just played along.

"Where is your luggage, Ares?" Helena questioned while puffing her cigarette.

"Inventory," I replied

"Inventory?" she asked me with a questioning face.

"I mean Storage ring" I corrected myself as they don't know about my inventory.

"Oh, I see," She accepted my answer and spoke again.

"Will you be visiting Mika Amami's mansion on weekends?"

"I don't know, if I got some free time I will come by," I answered nonchalantly.

"Give me a call when you are visiting, I still have many things to teach you," Helena said.

"Sure," I replied to her while watching the scenery from the car's window.

We arrived in front of the Academy entrance after a few minutes of travel.

I stepped out of the car, said my goodbyes to Helena, and showed the guards at the gate my invitation.

I was allowed to enter the gate after gaining permission from the guards.

As soon as I entered the gate, I saw a small city-like landscape with a huge building in the center where 'S'OREH ACADEMY' The next generation of heroes, those cringing lines were written.

"I suppose that's the academic building," I muttered to myself as I looked around, the huge building surrounded by many other buildings ranging from luxurious to average, which appears to be the dorms, I tilted my head towards other places where other necessities shops, restaurants, and many other shops could be seen.

I went to the main building, where the entrance ceremony is taking place, and then to the auditorium.

As I entered the auditorium, I was greeted by a diverse group of students, many of whom were staring at me, some with fascination, some with curiosity, and some with.....jealousy?

I ignored their stares and sat in the hall's corner seat, leaned back, and observed others. I saw many familiar faces in the crowd, and as I watched them, I noticed a figure entering an auditorium stage.

It was a middle-aged man wearing glasses with a well-shaved beard, long black hair and a well-built body wearing a black suit, who shortly introduced himself as a Vice Dean of the Academy and delivered a huge ass speech about the academy's history, which I disregarded, and then he got to the main point...

"The Examination will be a battle royal between all the 300 students present here which will be held in a special magical space and the top 40 students with the highest score will be allotted to the special class and the rest will be allotted according to their ranks," he explained.

Soon a student raised his hand and asked a question.

"What should we do to eliminate other students,"

The Vice Dean and other professors who were standing in the corner of the hall chuckled hearing the student's question, but soon vice dean answered.

"Of course, you have to kill them,"

As soon as he completed those words murmurs can be heard all around, seeing them vice dean shook his head and clarified.

"Of course, nothing will happen to you even if you got yourself killed in that magical space, you will just be thrown out of magical space to reality.

There will be some backlash if you died brutally though, but you will be alright after getting some rest,"

He said and started to explain the examination again.

So in simple words, the magical space will get smaller as time went by and for every student, you kill you'll get 1 point and the more you kill the more points you get.

You wouldn't get any points by just surviving so hiding is not an option.

The magical space would be like a massive forest that would gradually shrink and push everyone remaining in the center out.

The examination will last 3 hours, and your scores will be announced with each kill you earn, and the examination will conclude when only one candidate remains or the time limit ends, and scoring will be done after that.

The examination will be held tomorrow in front of an audience of second and third-year students, as well as all faculty instructors and some other guests.

"It's like giving them a break to enjoy themselves while watching the first-year students kill each other," I grumbled, shaking my head in displeasure.

'This world is harsher than I imagined.' I reminded myself once more.

The speech was soon over, and everyone exited the auditorium.

'There will be a massacre tomorrow,' I thought to myself as I departed for my temporary assigned room..
