6. Wedding Night

"Now you see me, Adrian."

Adrian realized that he was staring intently at Nadine. He immediately turned his gaze forward again. Nadine who saw Adrian become awkward just smiled a little.

Adrian's emotionless face came back again as he said their wedding vows. Nadine's satisfied smile in the past also did not appear on Nadine's face now.

Today once again, Nadine Merrick's ambition to marry Adrian Miller has been achieved. Unlike in the past, Nadine didn't seem happy at all. The only thing she has in common now and in the past is that they both can't have Adrian's heart.

Nadine and Adrian are currently saying their wedding vows and pinning rings on each other's fingers. But it's just a business deal and there's no love in it.

The event continued with parties and banquets. Nadine and her father, who was accompanied by Anna, were busy receiving congratulations from the invited guests.

"Nadine... Where is your husband?"

Nadine took a deep breath because it was the same question Henry asked in the past.

Because of that question, Nadine knew that her husband spent time calling Olivia during the party.

Nadine already knows where Adrian is without going around looking for him like that time.

"Ah he's in the bathroom it seems, it might take a long time."

Nadine tries to find an excuse to keep her father from telling her to call Adrian. Anna, who looked disbelieving, just shook her head.

"Tsk.... You find him now. At least ask him to meet a guest for thirty minutes."

Henry's voice interrupted her thoughts.

Nadine immediately rejected Ann's offer.

Nadine left her father who was receiving guests.

"If it had been the same thing. He would have been there."

Nadine muttered to herself and went straight to where Adrian was. In the past Nadine had almost fifteen minutes circling the whole place looking for Adrian. And when he found him, she had to be disappointed because she had to hear Adrian saying love for someone else.

"Haaah.... I have to get ready to hear it again."

Nadine took another deep breath as she went to the balcony of the room. And just as expected outside, it was Adrian who was ready to make a call. Nadine slowly approached Adrian without wanting to disturb him.

"Benji? Why did you call earlier?"

"Huh!"

Her voice was almost heard by Adrian. Nadine quickly covered her mouth and mumbled softly.

"Benji? Shouldn't he have called Olivia."

While holding a decorative flower vase in front of her, Nadine peeked at Adrian curiously. But then she began to doubt.

"I don't think this is an elegant attitude, peeking and listening to other people's conversations."

But her curiosity was bigger than her pride so she decided to eavesdrop on Adrian's conversation.

The sound of music from inside the room was faintly heard from there. And suddenly Nadine realized something.

"Haa.... It seems I came here too soon. Maybe after this he will call Olivia."

Nadine slightly approached Adrian because the sound of music from inside the room made Adrian's voice not very audible.

"Music? Ah yes Benji... Looks like there will be a dance soon. I don't know, I'm not interested..."

Adrian loosened his tie a little and asked Benjamin again.

"Huh? Aunty wants to talk to me?"

Nadine is getting more and more curious about Adrian's conversation. She leaned forward resting on the flower vase in front of her.

Nadine did not expect the flower vase in front of her fall. Adrian immediately turned his head because a loud voice behind him, seeing Nadine who was still stunned to see the flower vase in front of her shattered. Luckily no one noticed Nadine because they were busy enjoying the party in the main room.

"Nadine?"

Nadine, who is always planned in her life, doesn't know what to do at that time especially when Adrian catches her eavesdropping on her conversation.

Seeing the broken flower vase and Adrian's shocked face, Nadine panicked even more. But she is trying to calm down and make excuses.

"This vase has poor quality. I won't be using their services again."

Only those silly excuses came out of her mouth and Nadine put on a calm face as best as she could.

"Ah yes aunty .... Nadine seems curious about our conversation .."

Smirking and throwing a glance at Nadine Adrian answered his aunt's question. Nadine, who was embarrassed, wanted to leave immediately.

"Father is looking for you, at least please meet the guest for a while."

Adrian wanted to answer Nadine but his aunt had already spoken to him.

"Huh? You want to talk to Nadine?"

Nadine immediately turned around when her name was called.

In her haste, she accidentally stepped on the broken vase in front of her.

Adrian shook his head and walked over to Nadine. He reached out his hand to help Nadine dodge the broken vase in front of her. Covering his cell phone he warned Nadine.

"I don't want Mr. Henry to cancel his contract because you hurt your leg when you called me."

Nadine was just stunned as she accepted Adrian's hand. She was still surprised by Adrian's offer. In one small jump, Nadine managed to step over the shards of the vase that were scattered in front of her. Adrian immediately let go of his hand and went back talking to his aunt.

"Ah yes aunty ... Are you sure you want to talk to her?"

Adrian glanced back at Nadine who looked confused. On the other hand, Nadine seems to be thinking while talking to herself.

"My poor heart.... You are so weak. Just one kindness makes you flutter like crazy again..."

After criticizing her own heart Nadine took a deep breath and muttered to herself.

"Nadine! Don't be tempted and stick to your plan. Your next three years of life are at stake from now on!"

Adrian just shook his head looking at Nadine who was acting strangely.

"If aunt insists... I'll ask her first."

Adrian approached Nadine who was still making determination to herself.

"Auntie wants to talk to you..."

Again, Nadine was stunned, still not believing Adrian's offer. There seemed to be a change from the events in her past.

"Huh?"

Adrian looks impatient waiting for Nadine's answer.

"Hello Aunt? Looks like Nadine doesn't want to talk to you.."

Nadine immediately shouted at Adrian.

"I want to!!!"

Nadine, who realized that she was shouting too loudly, cleared her throat.

"Ehem... I want to talk to auntie."

Without waiting for long, Adrian immediately handed his cellphone to Nadine.

"Hello Nadine?"

For some reason Nadine suddenly felt sad when Adrian's aunt greeted her. In her past life even though Adrian's aunt didn't like her much she was always kind to Nadine. She had the wrong impression of her.

In her past life Nadine thinks that Adrian's aunt is two-faced. On one hand she sided with Olivia and on the other she was nice to her. So Nadine thought she was being nice to her so that Resort Miller would be handed over to Adrian immediately.

But her mind was a little bit changed when she got pregnant, accompanied by Benjamin, Marie always took the time to visit Nadine. She visits her to give her food or just to see her. Even though in the end Nadine always rejects her. Maybe that's why Benjamin hates her.

"Hello? Do you remember me Nadine? Marie, Adrian's aunt."

Marie could be heard taking a deep breath before starting to speak again. Nadine looks nervous waiting for the words that will be spoken by Marie.

"I ask, please help Adrian..."

Nadine immediately answered Marie's request quickly.

"Of course... You don't have to worry Marie."

Adrian was seen occasionally glancing at Nadine suspiciously. He seemed worried that Nadine would be rude and arrogant to his aunt.

"Thank you... Could you please return the phone to Adrian."

Nadine immediately handed her cellphone to Adrian.

"Yes aunt?"

Adrian looks seriously listening to his aunt.

"I'll try to get there tonight. Don't worry."

This sentence made Nadine a little surprised. Flashes of the past running through her mind again. The words that Adrian spoke were the ones that she heard when she found him that night.

"Yeah.... You should also take good care of yourself."

They said that at the same time, causing Adrian to turn to Nadine. He immediately hung up the phone with an annoyed face.

Adrian, who wanted to be angry, failed to do so because he saw Nadine's stunned and confused face.

"You want to make fun of me?"

Nadine just shook her head. Adrian sighed and went inside leaving Nadine still struggling with her thoughts.

"Wait!! So... The caller of that night is? Adrian!!!"

Adrian, who had almost entered turned quickly when Nadine shouted his name.

"You called your aunt!!"

Nadine approached Adrian who seemed offended by Nadine's words.

"So what if I call my aunt? You're going against me?"

Nadine, who is aware that her tone is loud, is trying to calm down.

"Ehem.... No, I'm not against it. It's just a little weird to hear you say you love someone."

Adrian sighed again.

"Aunt Marie is like my mother. So there's nothing wrong with me telling her I love her. Haven't you ever told your father too?"

This question pierced Nadine's chest right in her heart. Honestly, she had forgotten the last time she said she loved her father.

"Who knows..."

Seeing the change in Nadine's facial expression, Adrian wanted to mock Nadine but again he said otherwise.

"If we don't hurry, your father will get angry."

Nadine nodded and followed Adrian inside. Inside Nadine's father looked annoyed when he saw the two of them coming.

"I don't know what business you guys have behind my back. But I hope you will respect the guests who are here tonight."

Adrian calmly answered Henry.

"I have a problem with my stomach so I need a little time on the toilet."

Henry smirked and replied to Adrian's words.

"Even your reasons are the same."

Nadine glanced at her father who was still wearing his business smile to greet the invited guests who approached them. Then she glanced at Adrian who also did the same.

Nadine just shook her head. She glanced back at Adrian. Now Adrian is right beside her accompanying her, in the past because of her frustration she left Adrian just like that and did not call her. She went back to her father's place and said Adrian couldn't come to greet the guests.

Adrian, who entered not long after Nadine did not approach Nadine or her father, instead making himself talking to guests at different places from Nadine.

"What a huge misunderstanding."

The party was still in full swing, Nadine's father left the two of them to talk to the guests.

Adrian repeatedly looked at his watch and looked restless. Nadine tried to calm him down.

"The party will be over in 45 minutes."

Adrian took a deep breath and looked worried. This time he looked at his phone and checked his messages. Nadine who felt disturbed finally spoke up

"If you want to go.. Just go. I'll tell dad if there's a problem with you moving to my house and you have to handle it."

Adrian was surprised to hear Nadine's words. Again he was kicked out by Nadine from that place.

"I'll be leaving after this event."

Nadine, who remembers when Adrian left without saying goodbye in her past, suddenly got angry. Instantly she was annoyed and for some reason Nadine suddenly remembered Olivia.

"If you want to see Olivi-..."

Nadine's words were stopped when Adrian cut her off.

"I've told you many times not to involve Olivia with my problems!"

Several people who were near them turned their heads to hear Adrian's shout. Noticing the questioning gazes of guests who were nearby, Adrian smiled and apologized to them and he was just joking with Nadine.

Nadine realized that she was jealous again. He tried to recall his determination and took a deep breath.

"Sorry...."

Adrian took a deep breath.

"Haaaah..... Aunt Marie will have surgery in an hour. Benji says it's okay if I'm not accompanying them. Just before this event I also called them to make sure. But..."

Nadine couldn't count how many times she had received a surprise today.

"Wait... You left in a hurry that night because you were in the hospital?"

Adrian was confused by Nadine's question.

"That night?"

Adrian tried to make sure of Nadine's question.

"I mean tonight."

Adrian just nodded and smiled at a guest who approached them.

"Wait here."

Without waiting for Adrian's approval, Nadine immediately rushed towards Henry. He was seen talking to Henry who looked a little annoyed.

Adrian just looked at both of them in surprise while receiving congratulations from guests who came to him. His gaze still couldn't leave Nadine, who looked like she was discussing something with Henry. Even Anna was called by Nadine to help her talk to Henry.

Finally his father took his cell phone and called someone. After Henry hung up the phone Nadine rushed to where Adrian was.

"Let's go from here."

Adrian looks confused when Nadine drags him out. Until outside Jim was waiting for the two of them.

"Jim... Father told you right?"

Jim nodded and smiled at Nadine. Adrian looks very confused.

"Wait... I don't have time to play kidnapping dramas with you. I have to go to the hospital ASAP."

Adrian was angry with Nadine's behavior. Nadine was about to explain their purpose but Jim suddenly cut her off.

"Mr. Adrian... We did go to the hospital… Mr. Henry asked me to take you there."

Nadine is a little touched when Jim helps her to explain their goal to Adrian. He recited his thanks to Jim who could see it through his center mirror.

"Huh? So you asked Mr. Henry's permission to leave the party early?"

Nadine nodded casually and asked Jim to leave immediately. Adrian couldn't say anything because he still couldn't believe Nadine did that.

"You can thank me later."

Nadine again teased Adrian and only got a smirk from Adrian.

The roads were quite smooth so they could quickly arrive at the hospital. Adrian went straight inside and didn't realize that Nadine was following him. Until he arrived in front of his aunt's room he realized that Nadine was with him.

"Huh!! What are you doing here?"

Nadine who also seemed to be unaware of following Adrian looked confused.

"Huh? Looks like I unconsciously followed you."

Nadine seems to make Adrian even more angry.

"Nadine Merrick you-...."

Adrian stopped when the door of his aunt's room opened and Benjamin came out of it.

"Adrian!!"

Benjamin pointed at Adrian in surprise and looked more surprised when he saw Nadine.

"Miss Nadine!!!!"

His mouth gaped to see Nadine there.

"Benjamin? Are Adrian and Nadine there?"

His aunt asked from inside. Adrian sighed and couldn't help but take Nadine into her room, leaving Benjamin who was still stunned.

Inside the room, Nadine saw Marie's beautiful face, which looked pale and weak. Even so, a smile still graced her face.

"Hello Nadine?"

Nadine tried to smile as best she could at Marie. Benjamin, who seemed to have realized what had happened, immediately accompanied Marie.

"You look handsome Adrian.... And Nadine is also very beautiful..."

Again Nadine smiled at Marie's compliment. Benjamin didn't seem to like Nadine's presence.

"You guys are okay with leaving the party like that?"

Nadine immediately shook her head quickly.

"I thought I'd never see Adrian's wedding."

Adrian approached his aunt and gave her encouragement.

"Aunty will have surgery soon. So don't think about it."

Marie smiled at Adrian's words of encouragement.

"Benjamin said that I needed to move to another hospital? Adrian.... You already sold your car for aunty. I don't think we need to move to a new place."

Hearing Marie's words, Adrian glanced at Nadine.

"Aunty... Everything has been taken care of, after this operation you will be transferred to a better hospital."

Nadine nodded reassuringly at Marie.

"You don't need to worry, Adrian has already got to the hospital. If the doctor agrees we can move immediately."

Benjamin assures his mother that everything is taken care of.

"Haaah..... I hope I didn't trouble you guys."

Nadine this time confidently answered. Her face looked seriously reassuring to Marie. Marie who saw Nadine's confidence smiled faintly. Unlike Benjamin and Adrian who were a little surprised.

It wasn't long before the doctor who was going to operate on Marie had arrived. They informed them that the preparations for the operation were complete.

Marie was finally taken to the operating room followed by Benjamin, Adrian and Nadine. They were waiting in the waiting room as Marie entered the operating room.

"Miss Nadine...."

Nadine looked at Benjamin who was standing in front of her.

"I've been informed by Adrian of the matter of transferring to my mother's hospital."

Adrian just glanced at Nadine without wanting to comment.

"I don't know what your motive is... But after mom's treatment is over I'll pay you every penny."

Nadine chuckles hearing that.

"Tsk... Just take good care of Aunt Marie. We can talk later."

Benjamin couldn't believe what he heard. He chose to sit next to Adrian and whispered to him.

"Adrian? She seems to have settled the account with you."

Adrian smirked at Benjamin's words.

"Maybe... We'll see."

Nadine glanced at Benjamin and Adrian who seemed to be talking about her. Not wanting to bother it, Nadine leaned her head back on the chair and muttered quietly.

"What a wonderful wedding night...."
