1 Comfort zone

I don't know where I once saw this quote about how "the comfort zone is a great place to be but there's no room for growth". It has been on my mind lately, I feel like I'm stuck in this comfort zone.

*BEEP BEEP!!!* My alarm sounds, I've been up the past hour thinking about my life... or the lack there of.

Going through my morning routine is a slow and dull process, especially since my minimal makeup skills are non existent today so I end up washing my face and opting for a "no makeup day".

I arrive late at work, good thing I'm the boss so I can make it seem deliberate.

The shop is already full swing with the morning rush so I jump in and assist at the register so we can beat the rush.

That's when I saw him... in the midst of all that chaos, I saw him.

"Expresso, make it quick I'm in a rush", he said sporting an annoyed look.

Well he's a douche, such a pity because he looks like every woman's dream.

I ring up his order and he walks off once Sindy hands him his drink.

"Who's he?, I've never seen him around before." , Sindy asks checking him out as he leaves the shop.

I shrug and carry on with the customers till the rush dies down and I retreat to my office.

I own this small coffee shop slash bookshop. Books have always been my love but as the times progress people have switched to digital thus I had to keep up with the times. There's a coffee shop that also sells a few baked goods. There is a sitting area where you can enjoy your coffee whilst reading your favorite book whether it be an old fashioned book like me or online using our free wifi with every beverage.

The shop makes enough for me to survive and my employees make a decent earning.

I spend the rest of the day catching up on the paperwork before going to help around the shop during the lunchtime rush.

The shop is opposite a big investment company and most of the staff are regulars.

"Hey girl", Lily greets me soon as she walks in the shop. She works at the opposite building also and we've become friends.

"Have I got news for you!!", she says beaming true to her extroverted personality.

I ring up her order and we have lunch together at our usual table.

"So spill, what's up?" , I ask once we are seated.

"Eager much?", she jokes but I she loves sharing juicy news as much as I love listening to her over exaggerated stories.

"You know how dull my life is, I could use some juicy office gossip"

"Well you remember the big boss is retiring? Well a young billionaire just bought the company and is looking for someone to help run the company since he can't be here full time since he has like a ton of companies to run."

"That's great news Lily, I know you've been working your ass off so the promotion is yours."

"I hope so girl", she says not looking convinced.

"What's wrong? Why aren't you excited?", I ask.

"Well the new boss is a total hunk and Stacy is all over him. Finally she can put her over priced assets to get her the job.", she says sighing.

Stacy is her colleague who has so much work done that men find her perfectly attractive.

"Why couldn't I be straight then I could try and seduce him too.", she adds sadly.

"Come on girl stop second guessing yourself, you got this! Besides if he is such a hotshot businessman then he will pick someone based on their work not the amount of silicone in their bodies."

That earns me a smile from Lily and I'm glad I cheered her up.
