Epilogue: A Promise for a Better Tomorrow

After that mission, we were given a three-day vacation. The night after, I finally understood the reason why I cannot sleep since I became a Psychic.

"Who could've known that Law's limitation of my ability to feel disgust and remorse is connected with my ability to sleep… I should've told him about it earlier."

A month after I became a Psychic, I finally understood the reason why I became one. And now, I have no regrets about this… This is the new me and I have accepted it.

"Now… Should we start this today?"

I decided to further train my body to accommodate more of Law's power by having a daily regimen of exercise and Psychic training in a Subspace away from my home. I decided to wake up by 4 AM everyday to jog for 10 kilometers around Sunogahara-cho and create a subspace near that diner that we use for meetings to safely train my skills and become better at it.

"Hah… hah… hah… Well, that loosens up my body."

By the last three kilometers, I would head to eastern Sunogahara-cho where the local market is located to shop fresh ingredients for our breakfast. Since I usually arrive here by 5:30 AM, I always get the best deals and even ask some vendors about rumors or news from outside this city that is in a tight lockdown.

"Hey! Can I borrow your notes? I forgot that math homework, you see…"

"Ahaha! I watched that show last night. It sure was a pretty good one so I'll keep on watching it."

"I heard that Takamura from the other class has had a pretty harsh break up last week."

"…Oh no… I have to avoid this street. I can't bump into one of them now."

I absentmindedly recognized the street that I was walking at after hearing the conversations of some and decided to take an alternative route to head home.

I successfully avoided them in that street and even in the train station, but as I took the last turn to finally get back under my roof, I recognized someone who rang the bell outside my door which was enthusiastically answered by Yukari.

"Coming! Who is it?!"

"Ah! Sorry, little one. I must've mistaken the address. Are your parents or elder sibling inside? I want to ask a question."

"Mm? Mio-nee is only a bit older than me. We do have Rai-nii, but he's not home yet!"

"Rai…nii?"

"Mm! I treat Rai-nii as an elder brother, but he's actually our adoptive papa! He's a really kind person who always cooks my favorite foods!"

"Rai-nii…? Sorry if I am mistaken, but is this Rai-nii's name… Ephraim Chronia?"

"Yes."

"Rai-nii! Welcome back! Did you buy me some taiyaki?"

Instead of listening silently from behind them, I cut their conversation short to answer it as Yukari ran to my leg and asked if I bought her favorite morning snack.

"C-Chronia-san…"

"…Since you're obviously here for answers, mind if I cook you a meal… Amakano Sayaka-san?"
