Chapter 89

The clicking of shoes made us turn. Jason stormed towards us with two nurses behind.

"Mr Danvier please calm down and let me attend to you"

He turned back and just a single glare had them running back to their post.

Jason grabbed me and examined me.

"I'm fine"

"Maverick?"

I gave him the warning eyes.

"Lena was attacked in her house by some woman"

"You tattletale" I slapped his arm until Jason pulled me away from him.

Maverick looked away.

"How's she?"

The doctor looked between me and Jason.

"She's fine. Nothing major except the bleeding on her head, luckily Maverick and this woman..." His eyes dropped to where Jason's arm circled round my waist holding me still. "... were there to save her from choking"

"Check her up"

"I don't need a check-up"

The doctor removed a pen with a flashlight on top and moved towards me.

I slapped his hand away.

"No, I don't want a check-up"
