Chapter 4

The person stepped into the light.

"Alexia" Kelvin got down from the driver's side of the vehicle and moved towards her.

"Umm, hi" she said shyly and he nodded his head in acknowledgement to her greeting.

She passed him several take away plates piled in a nylon.

He collected it from her and eyed the food inside.

"What's this for?"

"It's for your sister, I know you boys have a lot of appetite and would not have waited for her, so I decided to pack a little something for her. Tell her I am sorry again, okay?"

"Sure"

She hesitated a little before tiptoeing and brushing her lips gently over Kelvin's lips.

Kelvin froze and before she could move away, he grabbed her firmly by her waist and placed a hot kiss on her lips.

I wolf whistled and they broke apart turning red in the face.

"Would you look at that, my ship is sailing. I'm so happy, I'm getting emotional" I wiped a fake tear from my eyes.

"Stop teasing Pumpkin" Kelvin growled struggling to act boldly with his red face.

"What? Can't handle it" I teased.

Alexia greeted us bye in a hurry and walked back to her restaurant, her eyes trained to the floor.

She slammed her face into a streetlight and muttered something under her breath.

"Careful, you don't want to ruin that pretty face for Kelvin" I shouted after her.

Kelvin looked away but the redness of his ears gave him away.

Alexia only hastened her steps and disappeared behind the restaurant, I saw a shadow slump against the wall and cover her face.

I chuckled and tapped Kelvin.

"Still in a daze? Let's go"

"Hmph"

He entered and drove off.

I tapped my fingers against the dashboard of Kelvin's pickup fighting the urge to laugh.

His face was straight and serious but I could tell he was thinking about what happened and why it happened.

"What did you say?"

"What? I don't know what you mean" I denied the allegations leveled against me.

"You know what I am talking about. I have been trying to figure out if she liked me for two years now and you just got me a kiss in like two hours after we arrived at my house. Damn, what did you say?"

"Oh, nothing much just stuffs about you liking her and her giving you a chance, blah, blah, blah"

"Thank you" I turned confused to see a sincere face.

"I don't understand? Why the thanks?"

"For..."

"Kel, we're family. Family help each other, I just did what had to be done, no need for the thanks. Besides that's your sister's girl power for you, you need to experience it firsthand"

"I don't doubt it at all, I don't pumpkin"

Kelvin smiled at me warmly.

"Hey, put on the radio" I reached for the radio.

We turned the radio on and blasted music on our way back.

I leaned my head against the window and studied Kelvin from it, at first I caught a small smile escape his lips.

'Thinking about the past, eh?

Then he caught me staring at him and gave me a big goofy smile.

"Don't stare through the windows, look at me" he smiled widely.

"Still thinking of Alexia, are you?"

"You tease me a lot" he pouted adorably.

"Are you? Don't change my topic" I pinched his cheeks.

"I always think of her, ever since my highschool"

"That long?"

"No, you misunderstand. We went to the the same highschool, she left to Britain for her university and we met again three years ago..."

"And you still have a crush on her?"

"What's wrong with that" he spoke defensively puffing his cheeks.

"They do say love makes one go bonkers, anyway I'm happy for you two. Looking forward to seeing my nephew or niece"

"Selene?!!" The car swerved dangerously off the road.

"What?"

"Stop teasing?!" Kelvin managed to stabilize it.

"I'm glad though, I don't know why but it makes me glad" I smiled.

Kelvin squeezed my hand with his big ones.

The drive was taking too long and the terrain looked like the same boring old landscape, I didn't know when my eyes closed shut.

Kelvin parked his truck and opened the passenger's seat, he stared at his beautiful sister.

"I will protect you, I will. Sacred Orlandian Promise"

Selene turned and muttered something about food.

"Glutton"

He tapped her lightly and Selene opened her drowsy eyes.

"Where am I?"

"We're home"

"Home? Home where?"

"Do you seriously not remember that you are in America, this is the second time you are asking me that today and no less in the space of about two hours"

Kelvin chuckled.

"Come on, let's go in"

Kelvin brought out his bunch of keys, he held the knob but the door opened with little force.

"She's here" he whispered.

"Who? Your mother?"

"Yes. Let's go in"

A woman staggered from the kitchen, a bowl of cereal in one hand and a jug of milk in the other.

"Mother"

I always thought that Kelvin was a gentle soul but this "Mother" contained enough poison to fill two male King Cobra.

"Awwnn, my baby is home" she moved towards Kelvin and placed a kiss on his cheek.

I had to step back to breathe properly, this woman really reeked of stale alcohol and vomit.

Her eyes twinkled when they met mine.

"Ohh, I see. I'm disturbing something, am I not? Brought one of your hoes over, she's a mighty fine one, yes she is"

"Mother!?"

"Does she scream your name when you hit it from behind, I'm sure she does. I trained you well" she patted his back and dumped the cereal bowl in the sink.

"Are you staying in?" Kelvin asked.

"No, I'm heading out now"

"Not even going to take a shower?" I asked her.

"Hoes don't put their mouth in family issues, except you want to bust your pleasure for the night" she stepped closer to my face and I had to nod quickly so she could move away.

"When are you coming back?" Kelvin asked dejectedly.

"When I feel like, you should know that by now" she smiled again and kissed his cheek before hugging me.

I almost choked on the smell of vomit.

"Mother, let her go" Kelvin growled at his mother.

"Bye sweetie" she blew him a kiss and closed the door.

"She really needs a bath"

Kelvin chuckled.

"Yes, she does. She'll do that in her 'friend's house"

I yawned.

"To bed, to bed says sleepy head" Kelvin sang.

"Wait a while, says greedy Nan, we'll sup before we go"

"Speaking of supping, let's check what Alexia packed for us" Kelvin opened the nylon and brought out the take away plates.

"Us?, She packed it for me. You're acting as a freeloader"

"Meanie" Kelvin stabbed a finger gently into my side.

"I'll go get plates" I hurried to the kitchen and brought plates and spoons.

"Ohh, curry stew with chicken, plain white rice, veggie mix"

"Stop talking and start dishing" I raised my spoon excitedly.

Kelvin dished food for the both of us before carefully packing the take away plates.

We ate till our satisfaction.

"I'm so full, I don't think I'm can eat another spoon and I think you need to carry me" I said as I spooned rice into my mouth.

Kelvin chuckled at the act.

"You know, now that I think of it, this food was definitely for 'Us . There is no way a person can finish it alone. She just had to think of you when putting for me" I harrumphed.

Kelvin's response was to glare, but with his red face it looked adorable.

"Done?"

"Yes"

I took the plates to the sink and washed them before arranging them neatly.

"Come let me show you your room"

"Ohh goody" I jumped with renewed energy and followed Kelvin.

We climbed some stairs and walked down the corridor.

Kelvin opened the room and I stepped back shielding my eyes.

"It's pink"
