22 The Party

Fantasia Hotel, Ballroom.

The massive ballroom was showered with lights as the enormous chandelier shone right in the middle.

Rich red coloured curtains covered the large windows, allowing little light to enter from the moonlight night outside.

In one corner of the room, a band of highly trained and well know orchestra group performed some of their well know tunes, as waiters bustled here and there with glasses of champagnes for the guests.

While the guests enjoyed the lovely night as some of them tapped their feet to the tunes, while others tried to increase and build their connections with some of the most popular faces of the business world who were invited.

But, in the room filled with such happy and careless people, there was a group that looked anxious as they talked among themselves, nervousness apparent on their faces.

The group was oblivious to the stare of the majority of young women who looked at them with lust apparent in their eyes.

Looking dapper in a custom made black suit which fitted his body like a glove, Damon looked at Oliver, who was wearing a silver suit, as he sighed and told him.

"I lost my private investigator."

Oliver, who was sipping on a glass of champagne while giving the ladies his signature killer smile, looked over to Damon as he asked lightly.

"How?"

"No idea, he just suddenly disappeared. Just now, I received some news which suggests that he has left the country.''

Damon told him.

"Hey, guys!"

Roy, who was also standing there in his royal blue suit, attracted both Damon's and Oliver's attention.

Seeing that he had their attention, he pointed towards Jack, who despite wearing a magnificent grey suit, looked like he had not slept for a few days.

Looking at him, Oliver couldn't help himself as he asked him,

"What the hell happened to you man? You look as if your lover has just left you!"

He said, earning a snicker from Roy.

But as soon as Jack heard them, tears pooled in his eyes as he told them.

"Yes! That's exactly what happened! My darling left me!"

Oliver, who was once again looking at the ladies nearby after finishing his duty as a friend by making a joke on the same said friend, nearly choked when he heard this.

"The hell!"

Roy exclaimed,

"Bloody traitor! I thought I was your bestest friend in the whole world and you didn't tell me? Me?"

Damon, who was also shocked at hearing that his friend had a partner, ignored the fact that a grownup man called another grown man his 'bestest friend' and looked at Jack as he asked him.

"Can you tell us how it happened?"

Jack, who was still emotional, looked at Damon before lightly nodding his head as he told them his love story.

''I met her around six months ago, that day I had just gotten out of one surgery before I was rushed into another one.

After the long and tedious surgery, I came out to inform the family about the condition when I saw an angel in the waiting room.

Oh! How heavenly my darling looked. With her long golden locks in a ponytail, she stood up to greet me and that is when I learnt that the patient on whom I had just operated was actually a soldier, and she was their commanding officer.

After that, I kept on meeting her here and there inside the hospital as she sometimes came to see an injured colleague or sometimes to get treatment herself.

And before long, I knew that she had stolen my heart, so I pursued her until she said and the two of us began dating.''

"Wait a minute."

Roy stopped Jack as he asked him,

"In which hospital did all of this happen?"

"In the army hospital of course."

Jack replied as if it was a matter of fact.

"What were you, the heir to the country's pharmaceutical and hospital chain, doing in an army hospital?''

"I was there for some research."

Jack replied.

It was Oliver who then asked,

"Then what is the damn problem?"

At this Jack, once again felt like crying as he told them,

"Last time when we talked about Ivy and her involvement with the army, I remembered that my darling was also in the army, so I thought of asking her if she knew anything about Ivy, but the second I opened my mouth and told her she...she looked at me in horror and left...left! My darling left me!"

Jack said before dissolving into a sob.

"She left you despite knowing the fact that you are the heir to the Shaw family, and in the future, you would inherit the country's largest pharmaceutical and hospital chain?"

"Of course not...my sweetheart had no idea about my real identity. When we started dating I thought that she would be overwhelmed by my real identity so I hid it from her and told her that I was from an ordinary family."

Jack said.
