The Day It Began

Beep Beep beep...

I woke up to the alarm ringing from My phone next to me in My bed, which make it seems like I fell asleep while I was on My phone. I took My phone to turn off the alarm showing that it's currently 9 AM. I got up from the bed, drink some water then proceed to do My daily workout routine. After that, I took a quick shower to prepare Myself for work which starts at 11 AM.

After showering, I took a look at myself in the mirror, A young man in his teen, soft black hair with short bangs that cover his forehead, sharp, piercing eyes that seems to look through anything. Not handsome but not ugly either, the definition of average looks, except for the slightly fit body. I opened the weather app on My phone, and it shows a 70% chance of rain, so I took my umbrella and a pair of badminton rackets as well because I have a badminton activity after work. Just after coming out of My apartment, someone greets Me.

"Morning, Arnold boy. Early work again today?"

It was someone whom I call Old Sam, living next door with his wife whom I call Aunt Anne.

"Old Sam, morning. How is everything going with aunt Anne?" I replied

"Yeah just living our daily lives. It's been a long time since you came over right, my wife missed you." Old Sam asked

"Well, sorry I've been busy with work and studies recently." I said apologetically

"Ah, don't be sorry. It's just that since Our son went overseas it gets lonely here." Old Sam said with a sad face

"Umm, I'll try to come over anytime soon, but not today cause I have a club activity." I said

"Don't worry about it, just come over when You have time. Alright off you go, don't be late for work!" Old Sam Encouraged

"Gotta run now, see you around Old Sam!" I said then started running

My name is Arnold Graham, 20 years old. I was born on the 25th of July, 2001. I'm an Australian Born Chinese, or what people would call ABC. My parents died when I was 10 years old, leaving me the 2 bedroom apartment for Myself. Old Sam and his wife, aunt Anne was the ones who took care of Me since the incident happen, which I'm very grateful for but regretful at the same time as I've been busy with the activities that I can't spend any time with them.

I used the subway train to commute to work, as I don't have my own ride, not that I know how to drive a car anyway. It's quite busy today because it's Monday, and a lot of people are trying to get to work as well using the subway, so it's cramped on the train.

Arriving at My workplace, which is a ramen shop owned by Old Sam's friend, I'm working as a manager here. I start exactly at 11 AM with another guy named Johan, which is My close friend since we were kids. Army cut hair, skinny but muscular man with quite a tall height, that's Johan. We start preparing all the ingredients until a girl came at 11.30 AM, which is another one of our staff named Olivia. Long brown hair tied in a ponytail, black pupil eyes that looks dark, a curvy body proportion, but quite short compared to Johan. She's wearing a black shirt and jeans, which is our uniform code, with a TONKUSHA Logo on the left breast pocket.

At exact midday, we open the shop until it closes at 5 PM. Short trading hours indeed. After closing the shop, I started to get ready to go play badminton with Johan, as He is a fellow club member as well, while Olivia might go home.

Arriving at the badminton centre, we started changing and did the warm up excercise for badminton to avoid accident that might happen. The activity starts at 7 PM and it last for 3 hours. We were just playing normally when suddenly the door to the indoor stadium opened in a strong momentum.

BAAM!?

"Eh what?"

"Whoa that gave me shocks"

"That surprised Me"

"What happens?"

People started to ask after getting surprised.

And just straight after that, a green creature holding a wooden mace just walked in through that door.

A short creature, green coloured skin, Ugly face with few teeth protruding through their mouth, sharp pointy ears, it looks like a GOBLIN from a comic that I used to read.

"Eh what.. what is that?"

"Ehh??"

"Is that a cosplay?"

"Whoaaa it looks so realistic"

People start to gather around the goblin creature, while it suddenly smashed the mace to a nearby guy.

SPLASHH

A short splashing sound, and when I look at his face, it was bloody deformed with his inside showing.

"Kk... KYAAA?!"

The women started screaming and some even throw up. Everyone started running from the creature while it continue to smash the guy until He doesn't look recognisable anymore.

"Kiiiikkkkk!!!" The goblin screamed, then started chasing people around

"NOOO!!!" Everyone started screaming and running away from the creature

At that point I was thinking, it's just one goblin and if everyone works together we could've sealed its movement. But maybe because everyone is panicking due to the gruesome sight no one was in their right mind. Right after that thought passed my mind, another goblin entered the door. It was at this point that everyone's face went pale.

"No, no way..."

"There are more than one?!"

"Calm down everyone! Look carefully, they're small and there's just 2 of them while we have lot's of people!" I shouted to everyone "We can work together to seal their movement."

But due to other people's screams, my voice couldn't be heard. I then look at Johan next to me just to realise He's trembling as well.

"Shit!" I cursed as I started running toward the door and close it.

After that, I took both of My badminton rackets and ran toward the goblin that just entered and smashed my racket toward it, just to have it blocked by its wooden mace. I got frightened and jumped back when it suddenly overpowered Me and smashed its mace straight to My face. It was at that moment that I felt death so close to Me. I can't stop gasping and catching my breath.

It then started running towards Me and smashed its mace while I blocked it with My racket. The result? My racket head got separated from the sticks and I almost died for the second time if not for My quick reflexes in jumping back.

Maybe because I already felt death twice that I became fearless at that moment. I started running towards the goblin while it tried to swing its mace at Me. I deflected it with one of My rackets and stuck its eyes with the other racked that lost the racket head.

"KIIIKKKKKKK?!" It screamed in pain while I continued to stab it with the racket

"DIE DIE DIE!!!" I shouted at it

"Kiikk..." It screamed out its final breath as it died due to multiple stabs at both its eyes.

"KIIIKKKK!!!" The other goblin suddenly started running towards Me

I then ran towards the goblin as well and throw both my racket at it. It evade my racket just to find out that I jumped towards it and held both its hand open and started shouting.

"SOMEONE KILL IT NOW!!"

I screamed, but no one moved as they're too frightened.

"WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU ALL DOING?! DO IT NOW THIS SHIT IS TOO STRONG!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.

"Oo... Oryaaaaaaa!!!" Johan then started running towards Me holding an umbrella that I brought while screaming

STAB STAB STAB

And He stabbed the goblin's face until it become deformed

"KIKKKKKK!!!" It continue to scream until it died.

"Haah.. hah... hahh..." I tried to catch My breath and saw Johan trembling as He throw up.

I looked around and saw that everyone was watching us in horror.

"Hah... FUCK" I cursed.
