1 Chapter 1 Ruïned before it started

April opened her eyes. It was only 6 o'clock in the morning, but she was already awake for over an hour. Today was very important. This presentation couldn't go wrong. This was her very first project. She worked on this for weeks. She slowly ascended the stairs in her pajamas and started eating breakfast. She opened her laptop on the table and wanted to make a second back-up of her project. Suddenly she heard the sound of an incoming message. She unlocked her phone and opened Whatsapp.

Wait! Why is the app in an odd language? It must be a virus. She opened her new message. Copied and pasted it in Google Translate. She was about to translate to Dutch when she saw that the message she just copied was already in Dutch. She dropped her phone in shock. Her world stood still for a moment. And it seemed like an hour before she could think normal again. She walked towards the living room and switched the tv on. Only to be unable to follow the news. What's wrong?

She grabbed her phone and typed a random sentence in Translate. Romanian? That's impossible! She was born in the Netherlands and has never set foot in Romania. How can she suddenly master their language? Then it dawned on her. Her presentation. It was already ruïned before it could start.
