The Family That Carries The Legacy Of Heroes

(Third Person Pov)

The main cast breathed a sigh of relief when they learned that the expulsion penalty for losing wouldn't be implemented.

Instead, they would lose all their AP for the month.

But that wasn't all. They were all told to move to the new dormitory, α.

The building seemed to have appeared overnight on the academy grounds.

This new dormitory had a total of 21 floors, one floor for each student. Each floor had its personalized training room and various types of facilities available, not only that but there were butlers and maids assigned to the building, to assist the students.

Most of the main cast had felt overwhelmed by it and for some who have lived in luxury, they hadn't felt a thing.

To those rich ones, this was normal.

At any rate, all their belongings were shifted to the new dormitory by the butlers and maids. So, after exploring their rooms and the rooms of their friends, they called it a day and went to sleep.

This had happened on the night they had lost the duel. Noah hadn't yet visited the new dormitory. He simply didn't have the time for it.

He was busy after the duel had ended.

In that sense, the new dormitory and their new environment had helped the main cast ease up from the events that had taken place in the duel.

...But the fear came back, tensions gripping their bodies.

Just sitting in the same class as him was torture for them.

The cold, freezing air seemed to make one's body numb.

Their fears resurfaced as they saw him enter the classroom.

He sat down on the empty first-row corner seat.

The room was dead silent, and no one spoke a single word, they just sat silently in their seats.

After a few minutes passed, the door of the room swung open and a woman appeared.

She was wearing a white shirt, the upper button of her shirt was undone, and the hem of the shirt hung untucked over her black pants, her shoulder-length black color hair was disheveled, and under her azure colored eyes were huge dark circles.

She put what seemed to be a packet of cigarettes inside her pants pocket and strode inside the classroom.

Despite her unseemly appearance, her beauty still stood out, if anything her unseemly appearance seemed to add charm to her beauty.

And this made it clear for everyone in the room to understand that the woman was a high ranker.

Leaning her back on the whiteboard and putting her hands inside her pocket, the woman looked at all the students in the class.

"My name's Laura Spencer, an SS- ranker, if you are wondering about my age, it's 29." She shrugged and continued with her lackadaisical attitude "Congratulations on making it to this class. I will be your homeroom teacher for the rest of your high school time. If you are not satisfied with me being your homeroom teacher then you can file the complaint to the headmaster." 

Her words and attitude left the students a bit baffled and taken aback, they didn't know how to respond to her.

Ignoring them, Laura continued.

"Start introducing yourselves and tell me why you decided to come to this academy." 

The students in front of Laura had gotten into this class because they were special and precisely because of that she knew better than anyone that many of these brats weren't going to even talk to each other if not forced to, they were perfectly capable of spending their next three years without ever learning the name of their own classmates.

It was true that they had shown decent coordination during their duel but that was brought by nothing but a shared sense of survival among them.

"Go in whatever order, I don't care. Just start the introduction"

"Aden Alves, E+ ranker. My class is a necromancer and elemental affinity of dark. I simply joined this academy because it's a prestigious academy." With that, the creamy-colored hair boy with silver eyes sat back down on his seat and started looking out of the window.

The next student in front of him stood up and began to speak.

"Margaret Liv, an E+ ranker. A sword magi. I have two elemental affinities. I came here because I didn't have any other place to go to" Saying so, the beastfolk girl sat down on her seat, leaving students confused by her words but no one questioned her. As for her having two elemental affinities, they all had already learned about yesterday.

Of course, just because they know about it doesn't make it any less incredible. They still found it quite unbelievable.

In a world, where many people don't even have a single affinity Margaret has 2 affinities.

"As you guys already know, Daphne here! I am an E ranker and my class is Gunslinger! Nice to meet you all! I hope we can get along...." Her high-pitched voice wavered when her eyes landed on Noah as yesterday's events replayed in her mind and her voice dropped. She shook her head and then continued "The orphanage I grew up in has an unspoken rule that all of us knew, once someone turns 15 they will have to contribute to the orphanage and I didn't want to contribute to the orphanage, and so, I simply ran away and came to the academy."

Daphne said with a smile on her face, a smile that didn't reach her eyes and then she sat down on her seat.

"My name is Ash Amberson. I am the son of William Amberson"

Willaim Amberson is one of the strongest humans alive. Everyone in the world knew about him but what they didn't know is ...he had a son.

That sure came as a shock to everyone in the classroom.

This was quite an information to learn about. Of course, what Ash said could just be a lie, in the end, it wasn't information the students knew how to perceive as.

"I am an E+ ranker. My class is Polearm Master and my affinity is fire. I came to this academy because it's my best bet to meet that fucker, that's all" His amber eyes shone radiantly as he sat down on his seat.

"Ah, right, my turn" Stumbling a little, the beastfolk boy stood up, a little taken aback by the display of Ash's clear hatred.

"Max Lenchaster. I am an E-ranker and my class is Corrode, it's an on-and-off type of class and my affinity is earthMy dad's last wish was for me to join the academy and so I did." For a moment, Max could feel that his voice had trembled a little but pulling himself together he spoke up with a smile "I hope we can get along!"

In this world, classes were categorized into two types active and passive, For instance, a swordmaster is a passive class that tells about the person's talent for becoming a swordmaster and gives some physical boost and stats to the person.

While Max's class, Corroder, is an Active class that can be triggered by the user and controlled, it's not something that is in effect all the time.

"Elinalise! I am an E+ ranker! My class is Brawler and my affinity is fire! I came to the academy because Allen did! Allen and I have always been together! It's my job to look after him since he is so weak, so I have to protect him!" The red-haired beastfolk said with a smile and sat down in her seat.

People who didn't know her didn't know but Allen did, he noticed, that Elinalise's smile was a bit strained, he could easily guess her thoughts as he saw her taking subtle glances at Noah.

Elinalise hadn't lost to another person of their age, not even once before. Sure, if she were to fight Aqua or Alyssa she would lose, their ranks were simply monstrous but at least she would know that she needed to get stronger if she wanted to win ...but with Noah's rank that's lower than hers, she didn't even know what she needs to do next.

To her, it was like hitting a wall.

"Allen. I am an E+ ranker. My class is a Gambler, it's a pain of a class to have. The graduates from this academy earn a lot and I want to earn a lot. That's why I joined the academy." Allen shruggingly said and sat down on his seat.

The girl with lavender-colored hair stood up next.

"Ashly Wilson, daughter of Charles Wilson and Aurelia Rose." It was clear from the way she had spoken how proud she was of her parents.

"I am an E+ ranker. My class is that of a Grim Reaper. I don't have any affinities. The reason I joined this academy is to become a hero" After listening to others Ashly once again thought about her reason for joining the academy and she once again came to the same conclusion, she wants to become a hero.

And that was all.

Her eyes shone with fierce determination as she took her seat.

This time, two students stood up at the same time.

"I am Sofia," A calm voice said.

"I am Maria!" This time it was a voice filled with energy that said it as she showed her white teeth.

"We are both E rankers and our class is the same as well, we are both mages. Maria and I are step-sisters. The reason we are in this academy is because we don't have any other option. We killed our parents and as a result, were sentenced under juvenile law but then shit happened and now we are told to spend our time here. They said our character will be observed thoroughly throughout our time in the academy. So, our objective is simple, to get the green pass and live a comfortable life after graduating from here." Sofia concluded and sat down. 

"Yup! Don't wanna go in that stinking jail again!" Maria remarked with a disdainful expression, closing both her eyes as she playfully stuck out her tongue in a gesture of distaste, and crossed both her hands in the shape of an X, showing her clear reluctance about going back to jail. 

The other students gasped when they heard those words.

None of them had heard anything about them killing before! And they were talking about killing their parents!

Some blinked their eyes again and again as they looked at the sisters struggling to grapple with the information.

"Next" 

It was Laura who said those words and brought everyone's attention back to the task of their introduction.

"Ah, r-right!" The girl in front of Maria said as she stood up from her seat in a hurry.

"Marianna Miller! I am an E ranker. A summoner! Um... I am sorry for the trouble I caused yesterday!" Saying so, she bowed her head in earnest and apologized.

"I think it was quite amazing what you did Marianna. Actually, I thought of something when I watched you yesterday, how about you try summoning it again and getting it in control, we can try as many times as we need to. We will use the barrier's property to our advantage, it's property to negate death"

It took several seconds for Marianna to register what Laura had just said and when she realized what she was told she started panicking.

"Um, eh, w-what! No!"

And she refused.

Sure, she was happy to be complimented but no way in hell was what Laura suggested was something acceptable to her.

Marianna was basically being asked to experience death over and over.

"I came to the academy to get away from my parents and focus on my music! I don't want to become a hero or even an adventurer! I am not here for any hardcore stuff! Yesterday was enough! I didn't even wanna get into this special class but you sent that message saying I will be expelled and all that!"

Hero's Nurturing High School has a rule. No outside contact is allowed.

And that was why Marianna had come here.

"That so"

That was all Laura said, there was no disappointment in her voice, it was as if she knew that her proposal would be met with a no.

Marianna with a huff sat down on her seat.

"...Um, pardon me if it feels personal but are you from The Millers family?" It was Max who asked the question as curiosity took over him.

Biting her lip, Marianna simply nodded.

Allen clutched his head right away after the confirmation, he had thought that might be the case but in the end, he dismissed his thoughts thinking she couldn't belong to that family if he had known she really did, he never would have used her as bait.

Unlike William Amberson or others in the world, The Millers were different in every way.

This family had produced nothing but heroes since the days of the Great Cataclysmic Event.

Their public reputation and their social standings were totally different levels.

People revered this family.

For many, they were gods.

At that moment, the entire classroom knew who stood at the top of the social chain and the one who shouldn't be messed with at any cost.

Marianna was a princess, in quite a literal sense.

"Now that you say it, she does have the blonde and clear sky-blue eyes..."

"B-but isn't their daughter different? The girl on the TV excludes some Royal aura about herself. You on the other hand look like a delinquent."

This was why no one really thought of her as someone who belonged to The Miller family.

The girl they had seen on their screens was totally different than the one they were seeing in front of them.

Their body language was totally different.

"Tch" Marianna simply clicked her tongue and then removed the rubber band from her hair as her hair flowed down to her waist.

Seated on her seat, she slowly crossed her legs with an air of nonchalant elegance. 

Her left elbow resting on her desk and her left cheek is on her left arm.

"I am Marianna Miller"

Her eyes had a look of icy detachment in them, her expression indifferent, and her voice left no room for question.

At that moment, she looked like a queen whose words were the orders.

Everyone's gansta until you realize that the person you didn't think much about is actually some real big shot lmao
