Chapter 17 Reasons of each other

After leaving the gym, the atmosphere among the Fang Li's group of four was somewhat subdued. Clearly, their recent experience had left them with mixed feelings. Fang Li, in particular, had learned about the authority of the Student Council and Student President during the club recruitment meeting.

"It seems like the Student President will be keeping an eye on me after today," Fang Li said to himself, though it was only a guess. With that, Kushida Kikyou waved goodbye and left, leaving Horikita Suzune, who had been somewhat absent-minded, to return to herself.

Thus, only Fang Li and Ayanokouji Kiyotaka remained.

Ayanokouji Kiyotaka turned his head to look back at Fang Li, his eyes calm like the stillness of dead water.

"Is it bad?" Ayanokouji Kiyotaka asked rhetorically.

Fang Li suddenly smiled.

"Maybe," Fang Li ended the topic with this short reply.

Afterwards, the two began walking towards the first-year student dormitory. During the walk, they engaged in a brief conversation.

"What do you think of the Student President's words about the student skipping the written examination in the entrance exam? And skipping the interview directly?" Ayanokouji Kiyotaka asked without warning.

Fang Li did not react excessively. "Who knows?" he replied. "I care more about the person who can score 50 points on all subjects on the written test."

Ayanokouji Kiyotaka responded unemotionally. "Isn't it simply accidental?"

"One or two can be accidental, three or four can still be coincidental, but more than that are not possible, they are absolutely inevitable," Fang Li said. "There are five subjects in total, Japanese, mathematics, English, social studies, and so on. Not to mention the rest of the subjects, so many accidents, do you not think it's a bit too much?"

"But you still have no way to deny that this may be accidental," Ayanokouji Kiyotaka said in a flat tone. "But the one who gave up the entire entrance exam is really unusual. If he didn't want to attend this school, why should he take the entrance exam? And why not attend the written test and interview if he participated?"

Upon hearing this, Fang Li stopped. Ayanokouji Kiyotaka also stopped immediately and silently watched Fang Li.

"....That's me," Ayanokouji Kiyotaka admitted after a moment of silence. He fixed his gaze on Fang Li. "It's your turn to answer my question."

"Sure," Fang Li replied simply. "It's true that it's me."

In other words, the two unique students mentioned by Horikita Manabu happen to be Fang Li and Ayanokouji Kiyotaka.

"Can I ask another question?" Ayanokoji Kiyotaka asked in a serious tone, "Why did you leave the written test blank and skip the interview? Weren't you afraid of not being accepted into the school?"

Fang Li didn't answer immediately. Instead, he replied, "I have a question for you too. If you can score so precisely, it means your academic ability is not low. So why did you do it?"

After a moment of silence, Ayanokoji Kiyotaka sighed and said, "There's no special reason. I just don't want to stand out too much."

It was clear that Ayanokoji Kiyotaka wanted to maintain a low profile and avoid drawing too much attention to himself.

It appeared that Ayanokoji Kiyotaka had decided to maintain his modest outlook from the beginning.

"Your turn," Ayanokouji Kiyotaka prompted.

Fang Li grinned and shrugged, "There's no special reason. I just felt those tests weren't necessary."
