Exposed

The atmosphere within the teacher's office was filled with awkward silence as both student and teacher were waiting for the other to speak as they stare at each other with different intensities.

'How is she maintaining her composure when I called for her? Isn't she curious as to why she was summoned to the office? Or is she just playing dumb about the duel?'

'Well, this seems interesting, calling me to his office only to stare me down. Hopefully not because he's a pervert.' Ciobara frowned at her thought in silence

Adjusting his goggles with his hands, he inquired in a serious tone, "What are you? A demon? An undead or a devil?", before adding, "and don't you dare lie.".

In an equanimous manner, she answered, "None of the above".

The former banged his fists on the table as an outburst of anger emanated from him.

"Just tell me what kind of creature are you or I would just cast a spell to reveal it myself".

"And, why do you believe that I am not a human?"

He took his seat as he answered, "Let's just say I was there in the forest".

Tilting her head while pondering she spoke "Interesting… What do you want?" a nerve turned visible on his face "Just tell already what creature are you?".

"What do I get from telling you?"

"If I find it interesting enough, I might help you hide from the academy. They have already started the investigation to look for a dark creature" he smirked

"Sounds nice… but what do you want?"

He took a deep breath to calm down "I want you to be part of my research on dark creatures. In turn, I will hide you from the authorities", with a slight pause he continued, "They will find you in a maximum of five days otherwise"

"Vampire," she answered to see his reaction.

"What!!?" he could not make up what she meant by that word.

"I, am a vampire" she clarified indifferently continuing "I accept your deal. But, I have a few conditions of my own"

"A vampire?... What kind of dark race is that? I've never heard of them." Pushing his glasses to the eyes he curiously looked at her while the rest of her words registered in his brain "What conditions?".

"First, you cannot bisect me. Second, you will later provide me with a way to meet the sage. Third, you will not interfere with my revenge. Fourth, if you ever want to be turned into a vampire let me know."

"If we are adding conditions like you dark creatures love to turn everything, into a deal. I have one of my own."

His eyes turned menacing with a hint of madness as he spoke "You are to help me with taking down the empire."

"You don't need me to tell you what to do next, do you?" The professor huffed, presenting the platinum contract to her view.

Finding no loopholes, Ciobara signed it in a relaxed gesture. "Goodbye!" she left with these words

Sensei shouted as if he remembered something "Wait!"

Halting her steps, she looked back at his nerdy face "What is it?"

"You have yet to answer my question. What is a vampire" Starry-eyed sensei, Aku Bakarashi, asked.

"Nightcrawlers who feast on blood. They are more agile and have ungodly strength compared to humans, making them a nearly unkillable race. That's who we are, the vampires" She answered with a puffed chest, brimming with pride

"Wait…" he shouted as he wanted to ask more but a ruthlessly closed door answered.

'All she said makes vampires most suited to physical classes. Why is she learning magic? She didn't say a word about a vampire's talent for magic' Aku Bakarashi was left wondering

'Wait I locked the room with magic. How the hell did she walk out as if it never existed?'

~Outside the office~

'What the hell she lived for 12 years in this world and was never found out. I reincarnated yesterday and get exposed the next day

Not like it's a bad thing this guy can save me trouble'

'If even this guy who is researching on dark creatures doesn't know about vampires then I doubt the library would be any help.' Her thoughts painted a frown on her face

'But I should still go there to learn more about this world'

Walking towards the library "Ah… I should run" she suddenly realized the library was too far.

The grandiose building of the library would have stunned anyone but her as she had a grander castle in her last life.

"Where is world history and encyclopedia?" she asked the receptionist, who pointed a direction for her.

As she reached the section. It was filled with humongous shelves so high that if it was a world without magic you would need stairs to climb.

There were still some stairs placed for freshmen students, who could not use magic yet while most of the books would be flying toward the students using their magic.

She also noticed intricate inscriptions and magic circles that would stop any offensive or harmful magic cast.

She randomly picked up a book and opened it to study as she had planned to read every history and encyclopedia book in the academy. It didn't matter which she started with.

The book was titled 'The World – by Ciel Redford 800 CE'. According to her memories, it was currently 823 CE, 'this should be a recent book' she thought as she opened it to read.

This world was called Trifon and is subdivided into Eight different continents and different races fill them up each with its unique specialties.

The continent she is currently in was called, Acos the continent where only two sentient races lived humans and the beastmen.

There were two kingdoms of each beastmen and humans while humans had an Empire on the continent as well.

Humans were the dominant race here on the continent if it wasn't for the fact beast king of the lionheart kingdom was strong maybe there would only be human kingdoms and the Empire.

Empire was the one to propose the idea of the academy shared by all kingdoms which took a lot to expand and Sage Siano living at the time of its creation helped.

"This is interesting. So, the random sage my predecessor read the book of turns out to be such an important character. Just how lucky were you?"

At the time of the Academy's proposal both the beast and kingdoms had rejected claiming it to be part of the empire's plan to dominate other races.

This was when the sage clarified it was not Empire's but his idea and he would see to it that no kingdom or the empire can take control of the academy.

As part of this plan, he proposed a few ideas like making a council with equal vetting power at the top of the academy.

While each department would be helmed by the best person of the profession on the continent. This would have no relation to how strong the empire or any kingdom is.

And a contract that would ensure it's fairness and impartiality will be signed by each of department head and council member.
