1 Chapter Eight

Adele walked into the huge expanse of the living room, her mouth open as she admired the whole interior of the house. She had thought the exterior was breathtaking but the interior was more enchanting to her. Stepping through the sleek, glass-paneled entrance, silver lights, strategically placed throughout the space, cast a gentle glow that accentuated the elegance of the grey and white design plan. The atmosphere was serene with no noise as maids stood lining the entrance in welcome to whichever guest they received. The butler took over from the driver, leading her into a well lit, huge living room that seemed to swallow her.

The living room, a sanctuary of comfort and style, was lined with plush grey sofas adorned with white throw pillows. Silver light fixtures, resembling delicate works of art, hung from the ceiling, casting a warm radiance over the room. A large, abstract painting served as a focal point, its vibrant colors contrasting against the neutral backdrop of the walls. It was a painting that drew everyone's attention and her attention was not an exception.

Throughout the house, large windows stood, allowing natural light to filter in, creating an airy and open feeling. Silver curtains framed the windows, adding a touch of glamour and maintaining the cohesive design scheme. The flooring, in a seamless blend of grey and white, added to the modern aesthetic, creating a clean and polished look.

Paintings and murals were not left out. They adorned the walls of every space, creating a gallery-like atmosphere. From vibrant abstracts to minimalist compositions, each piece adding character and personality to the modern abode. The silver lights strategically illuminated the artworks, turning the house into a living canvas that seamlessly blended contemporary design with artistic sophistication.

It made her wonder why she never noticed Mr Greg as a man who loved paintings. Something was off, she realized as she stepped closer to admire the large abstract painting that hot her attention earlier. It was a vivid painting of two cars facing each other, she couldn't decipher if there were people in the car. She was never a lover of paintings but something drew her to it. Pausing, she trailed her eyes to the artists signature.

Perry and E. He didn't sound familiar to most famous paintings she knew making her wonder how it made it way into Mr Greg's house. Shrugging out of her thoughts, she turned to see a vase. The intricate lines and seeming smoothness of the vase made her want to touch it but a shriek stopped her, catching her off guard and making her heart leap in fear.

"Out of bounds! Out of bounds! Out of bounds! Not to touch! Not to touch!" The guy wailed, his hands flailing around as he shook his head furiously. He had a stained apron draped over him, his hands coated with clay and dirt's all over his red hair. He struggled to maintain eye contact with her but she was able to decipher his sharp emerald eyes and the freckles all over his pointed nose.

Raising her arms in surrender, she stepped back, shocked as he immediately rushed to the vase and bent to observe it, turning it around as if checking for any dirt or stain. Finding none, he retrieved a white handkerchief and proceeded to wipe it spotless clean before replacing it back and turning to her. His head was bent as he looked around profusely.

"You must be Eddy" she said and he nodded. He looked to be around her age in his early twenties.

Eddy Greg, the autistic third grandson of Wilson Greg. After what seemed like ages, he finally looked up and stared at her.

"You look pretty" he complimented taking her by surprise as she raised her hand and cupped her cheeks, a blush creeping up.

"Thank you Eddy, how are-" he didn't let her finish before he turned abruptly and started leaving

"Hold on! I-" Adele started as he stopped.

"Dad said to prepare for a meeting, Dad said to prepare for a meeting" he muttered as he started pacing again. Adele ran towards him and tried to hold him but someone stopped her

"I wouldn't advise you to do that" another husky voice said as she turned to see a brown haired guy walking in with a gorgeous red haired. Her first thought was why he was wearing a sun glasses inside the house and she knew she disliked him already when she stopped at the painting she liked and tsked.

"Old guy's still in love with this painting, don't get why its still here" he paused and turned to Eddy and waved at the guy.

"Your pottery skills has improved brother, I'm proud" Adele didn't know if the remark was meant to be a compliment but it didn't feel like one to her.

Finally his gaze was trained on her as he stood straight and checked her out shamelessly, a smile curving up his face.

"You...you don't seem familiar" he said as she tried to smile, already uncomfortable with the daggers the girl he was with was shooting at her.

"Adele Mattews, I work for the chairman" Adele said as he nodded and plopped onto the cushion in front of him. He turned to the girl he came with and immediately took her lips in a deep kiss, flustering both Adele and Eddy, who's cheeks had turned red as he looked away.

"Dad called for a meeting, Dad called for a meeting" he muttered and scurried off while Adele immediately walked to him, anger building up gradually.

"Are you usually this rude!?" She asked, watching as he slowly drew out and sent her the most chilling gaze she had ever received.
