Chapter 04 – This Place Might Be Strange, But I Am Even Stranger.

Written By Dr Armstrong

...

The Dentis Myotis is like a primaeval spring trap, lunging into the enemy's face with one ferocious leap. A swarm-cum-ambush predator that resides in massive colonies that festers the Dungeon ceiling.

They possess a gargoyle-like appearance, hound-sized Bats with as many legs as the Dragons of Myth and Fable. Curved tusks jut out from the sides of their maw, not actually from the inside, but from small, hollow pores in the cheeks.

They have the tail of a fanged Lion, the eyes of a watchful Owl, and the clawed feet of Reptilians. Their tongues are forked like that of a Serpent's, yet they don't use it for smell. Instead, the best and greatest sensory feature of a Dentis Myotis would be its terrifying hearing capabilities.

But beware of the newly spawned Juveniles, for they are even more aggressive and hormonal than the average youth.

Particularly sensitive to sound, an absence of fear due to a lack of experience, and loner-like tendencies that push them to 'prove themselves' before they can rejoin their swarm.

It is generally not the best idea to provoke these beasties, so take care to stay quiet down there!

->Drakka POV<-  < p>

Now how in Gork's green arse was he supposed to get down?

Drakka was burning hungry, he was damned hangry, starving even. That Dentis Myotis needs to enter his stomach, he can't let this opportunity go...

The skills available for purchase were of no use in this particular situation. The only one seemingly useful would be [Climb], but his hands were broken, damaged from the fight.

He wouldn't be able to climb down even with the skill.

So he was left with a couple of choices, first to simply wait out until his hands healed back.

That wasn't really ideal considering the WAAAGH would only boost his healing factor in battle, the [Regeneration] skill was also still level 2, so it would still take a while...

But...

He was Armzstronk!

'Just because my hands are broken, that means I can't climb down, who decided that?' Is what could be said in the current situation.

Drakka quickly forgot about buying any new skills, he wouldn't need them. All that he would require was already in his possession...

The plan was simple, yet frighteningly genius.

Drakka frantically grabbed the nearby leaves and branches, using his mouth and whatever remains of his hands to collect the softest of the greens.

With a weird glint in his eyes, a subtle aura invisible to the untrained eye emanated from his chest before it floated and enveloped the leaves, being absorbed into the flora.

In the Snotling's past life, he had encountered a particularly weird caste of Humans, those guys would be the equivalent of purple Orks for the Imperium.

He remembered an odd phenomenon he had seen regarding those Humans, they would usually battle on rooftops and run away by the shocking strategy of falling off with a dashing grin in their faces.

If it was an Ork who had done that, Drakka would have been surprised by their stupidity, but he wasn't since it was very well expected of Mankind.

Yet he was only met with shock  when those guys somehow managed to survive...

It looks as if those purple Humans had prepared for the outcome of fleeing and had placed soft beds on the local domestic flora beforehand, shielding their fall with cinematic grace!

Of course, that wasn't really the case. Such meagre hay wouldn't be able to shield a grown man's fall. Something else was definitely happening there, perhaps some kind of impact-absorbing technology...

But that didn't matter, for as long as the Greenskin believed it would work, it simply would...probably.

Spreading his arms open, the Snotling dropped down the many leaves onto the floor far below, just enough to maybe not kill him.

This was one tall tree, after all...

And then, he simply jumped off into his potential demise, like a depressed college geek.

~BAAM

Oh, that looks like it hurt.

The leaf bed rustled and bustled as a bleeding green hand suddenly emerged from the top, which quickly gave a thumbs-up to the world, showing its 'okay' status.

A burst of green was sent into the air as a gust was sent alongside, the Snotling jumping out with a crazed glee as it looked toward its price.

He quickly rushed to the dead Bat, saliva dribbling down from his maw as his goblinoid eyes shone a malevolent red.

Before digging in, he quickly sent a prayer to Gork and Mork as gratitude for the good fight.

[You have consumed a new source of Biomass: [Juvenile Dentis Myotis] — 1 Biomass awarded.]

"Hm—mh~ da flavours are meltin' in me toungue~!" The Snotling literally cried tears of bliss as water streamed down his verdant green face.

Although it would be better if cooked or at least roasted, he had no time or the means for such a thing. So he'd have to suffice with raw meat butchered with his bare teeth.

Blood dribbled down from his chin as he chewed the Bat meat with fervent glee, it wasn't one of those moments where any food became unreasonably delicious in the point of view of a starving creature—this Bat's meat was actually scrumptious!

It was so mouthwatering that Drakka ended up wolving the whole thing down his oral orifice, his stomach bulging out as it gave a show of gluttony to the world.

[You have gained 1 Biomass.]

...And he even got another Biomass out of it!

Biomass...Drakka quickly remembered what that was and opened up the Mutations screen before not wasting any more time thinking.

[Do you wish to purchase [Hide +1] and [Eyes +1] for 2 Biomass?]

"Yep."

There was no time to waste, predators could be anywhere, and there might even be more Bats up in that tree. He would save the Biomass and Skill Points later. For now, he'd spend all he could get.

Survival was the priority, then came good fights, then personal power.

Hide would strengthen his defences, which was not only good when fighting against strong foes but also for surviving in the harsh environment.

Mutating the sense was a must, though Ears would be redundant this early on as he already had a [Hear] skill.

As a Snotling, he made use of his eyes far more often than his nose, so he chose to enhance his ocular sight of things...get it?

...Then there comes the itch.
