1 New Life

Ba Dumb!

Ba Dumb!

The sound of his heart kept beating and beating, louder and louder causing him to slowly wake up from his deep slumber. As he slowly woke up Chris could clearly hear the sound of his heart and at the same time feel a pain that was spreading from his heart to his whole body making him slightly numb. It was like an electric wire that had been struck in his left chest and electricity started running through his body with it at the center of everything.

"Aaargh"

Chris couldn't bear any longer and tried to stand up ignoring the pain and the numb sensation running through his body. As he placed his hand down in an attempt to stand up he could clearly feel the cold and hard texture of wood which made him slightly confused.

With confusion filling up his head he sat up, ignoring the pain in his heart, and started taking in his surroundings.

The first thing that came into Chris's view was the window at the wall in front of him and the three different lights that illuminated the room through the curtains. Crimson, Azure, and Silver respectively were the lights that came into the room.

Curious Chris tried walking towards the window to draw the curtains and see from where those weird lights came from, only to find himself stuttering due to the pain coming from his chest. Making his way slowly to the window, he arrived before it and drew open the curtains in one strong swing, only to be stunned at the same spot.

The view that came before him was that of a quiet street in the middle of the night with barely any people walking around as well as the buildings that were surrounding the roads. They weren't the usual modern buildings that he was used to, but that wasn't what shocked him, what truly shocked him was the sky. To be more precise the three moons in the sky. The three moons all together made the shape of a triangle and were crimson, azure, and silver respectively like the lights that shone and still shine into the room.

" Beautiful. "

Exclaimed Chris in surprise, before realizing something and turned around hastily to inspect the rest of the room he was in.

What he saw first was the wall on the left, painted in a faint yellow color like the rest of the room, before his gaze descended on the wooden wardrobe that was placed in the corner at the end of the wall. Following his gaze at the wall in front of him was the brown wooden door that probably led to the other rooms in the building and a little further away was a desk and some bookshelves on top of it filled with a variety of all kinds of books but most of them were novels and literary works from the looks of it.

On top of the desk was a book open with some ink that had yet to dry and some other weird things that he didn't pay too much attention to them for now. After that, he looked upwards only to see an old lamp hanging from the middle of the ceiling. Lastly, he turned to the right wall only to see a mirror there precisely at the height of a person.

He walked up to the mirror to get a better look as the light of the lamp was off and only the three moons from the night sky shone into the room.

As he arrived close to the mirror Chris saw his reflection on it, or more accurately he saw an unfamiliar man with a somewhat terrifying appearance standing in front of him. At that moment Chris started to panic before quickly calming himself down.

Chris took a few deep breaths before muttering to himself.

" So it turns out that I really transmigrated into another world, huh? "

"Luckily I grew up reading all kinds of novels so I am not unfamiliar with a situation like this, but still it feels too unrealistic for me to believe. "

" Moreover, before I transmigrated I was in the military and managed to build up my calm character quite well otherwise I really wouldn't know what to do. Of course, my calmness in this situation has also something to do with the fact that I didn't have anyone dear to me in my previous world to miss, or to miss me since I grew up as an orphan and after high school joined directly the military, becoming a member of the special forces at the age of twenty and a commander at the age of twenty-one leading my own squad for a year before disbanding due to the retirement of some old members and causing us to have insufficient members to continue our missions. And due to all my focus being on my career I naturally didn't have a girlfriend to care for, and thus I remained single all my life till the age of twenty-two when I transmigrated here."

" I really don't know if it is my fortune or misfortune to not have anyone to care for in my previous world. Well, given the circumstances now that I transmigrated I think I should count myself lucky?" said Chris with a tone filled with some self-doubt.

' Now having said all that and berating myself let's check what situation I am in first, before deciding anything else ' with that thought Chris lifted his head and looked at the mirror once again.

The figure that appeared in the mirror was of medium size, not too small, and not too tall about 180 centimeters of height and he was even slightly fit as it could be seen from the muscles in the body. He currently only wore black jeans like those of a formal suit. His upper body was naked and at the same time, black veins that could be seen clearly with the naked eye were spreading from the place where his heart is to all over his body. That was what left him terrified previously and made him lose his cool, as he didn't know what was happening to his body.

As they say, the unknown is the most horrifying thing one can experience.

Still somewhat scared, he continued to look up in the mirror and lifted his head ever so slightly to see his face. He currently has black dark hair and a pair of brown eyes that were as deep as the sea, and handsome refined features. Overall he could be considered to have quite a handsome face.

" Well, having seen my current appearance I must say I am very pleased with this body, at least I am a lot more handsome than my previous life. " Having said that he once again focused his gaze towards his left chest where all the black veins were spreading from.

As he focused his gaze he vaguely noticed a tiny silver dot in the spot where his heart was supposed to be, he reached out his hand and slowly grabbed that tiny dot. When he grabbed it, he sensed something and with a grave face, he pulled steadily outwards. As he pulled a silver needle three inches long started to be revealed in his field of vision causing him to be stunned as he wondered how could his heart still be beating with this needle pinned on it. Not long after he pulled the needle out, he could hear the sound of his heart beating ever so rapidly.

Ba Dumb Bum!

Ba Dumb Bum!

And at the same time, he heard his heart immeasurable pain hit him, causing him to grit his teeth and endure as he knelt to the ground hitting the floor to vex himself.

After who knows how long the pain started subsiding and his mind started to clear again, but before he could gather his thoughts a huge torture took place once again but at this moment the focus of the pain wasn't his heart but his mind as an enormous amount of memories started pouring onto him.

"Aaargh"

" C... Chris ... Alexander " that was his name now.

After five minutes all the memories had finally merged with him and his mind finally cleared up.

" Huff Huff " he started panting as cold sweat soaked his back from the continuous long amount of torture he had suffered. Fortune or misfortune again he was a commander of the military special forces in his last life so he had a firm mentality and managed to get through all this pain.

" Chris Alexander, so that's my name now, the first name Chris like my previous life and the last name Alexander, a nice name if I have to say. "

" Now that I merged with your memories you can rest assured from today onwards you are me and I am you, now that I have a second chance at life I will, of course, live it to the fullest and regret nothing. "

As he finished saying that his eyebrow suddenly furrowed and he turned towards the desk as if he recalled something out of nowhere.

He reached the desk and looked at the open book on it. Previously he didn't pay much attention to it but now when he looked closely he could see that the ink still hadn't completely dried off which meant that the words on it should have been written exactly before he arrived in this world.

Now looking at it he noticed that the weird symbols on it were readable. According to his " new " memories, those symbols were Memnis the language of the eastern continent, and the Azue Kingdom which he currently was at.

He looked at the memnis language and started reading with a grave expression.

" This world will end, and all will die. "

" The only way to survive is the way of metamorphosis. "

" A mystic is the way I chose. "

" And at last, all begins from the pain in the heart. "

When he reached here Chris's expression had become somewhat strange as he tried to recall and organize his new memories.
